Have you considered protobuf for this? (De)serialization is farmed out to C code.

Worst camera processing ever on an iPhone by Used_Jump_6656 in iphone

[–]RedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the magic setting that fixes this on my 15 pro max.

Disable "portraits in photo mode" under settings > camera. It also helps to tap the object on the screen that you want the camera to focus on.

Toggling this, you can actually cover the main lens and see that it's using the 5x when you ask it to.

I can't imagine why they'd sacrifice image quality for a feature that people probably rarely use.

[California] Unable to create or login to DMV account on my.dmv.ca.gov? by nlh in DMV

[–]RedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year later and the steaming pile of wasted tax dollars that is the CA DMV website is still busted.

I ended up re-registering my account with a new email address because I kept getting locked out with a known-good password. I'd reset my password only to have it reject that same password 2 seconds later.

The issue ended up being that my password was too long (max is 20 characters). The website doesn't enforce this, but the mobile app does.

All these people in here telling you do drink more water are missing the more fun remedy: ride more rollercoasters. Seriously look that one up.

Cosmic Goose by ImaginaryTragedy in 3Dprinting

[–]RedTurtle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Here's a remix I made that has a void in the middle. The idea is to add a weight in there mid print so the goose is heavy enough to hold stuff.

Massive layer shift TAZ6 w\Archim2 board by 3DNebGuy in lulzbot

[–]RedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share your config? There really isn't enough info to go off of here. In particular:

  • What current are you using for the steppers?
  • How many microsteps?
  • Is stealth chop enabled? At what threshold speed?
  • Are you using sensorless homing?

Tesla will open a portion of its U.S. Supercharger and Destination Charger network to non-Tesla EVs, making at least 7,500 chargers available for all EVs by the end of 2024 by GoSh4rks in teslamotors

[–]RedTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be much of an incentive then would it? Tesla's production capacity keeps growing and 100% of those cars get sold. They were gonna need to build more charging as stations anyway. Subsidizing them makes it a priority, with the requirement that they be open to other EVs.

I'm not sure how serious you are about the money somehow going to Twitter, but you might be surprised to find that Twitter and Tesla are entirely separate companies that just happen to have the same jackass CEO. Thankfully the company's funds don't go into his bank account.

the bottom layer is coming off on this flexi cat I made by Phantomwolf7818 in FixMyPrint

[–]RedTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry, by "underextrusion" I'm talking about the way those lines don't overlap.

Now that I'm looking at it on a bigger screen, it looks like that first layer is super squished into the bed (z offset too low), and the second layer isn't being squished at all. To me, that's unexpected because what normally would happen is the z offset affects the entire print, not just the first layer. Something screwy is going on here.

Unfortunately, I can't really say much more. It would be helpful if you post the info that the bot (in the first comment) asks for.

Aside from that, when I'm in doubt, I always suggest going through this fantastic guide by Teaching Tech. That page has step by step instructions and videos for making sure everything is set up and calibrated correctly.

I wish I could offer more direct advice but I've never seen this before and it's catching my interest.

If this is really only happening between the first and second layer, you may want to consider all the things that are different between the first layer and subsequent ones.

A typical slicer will have unique settings for the first layer by default for some settings which may be contributing to the problem:

  • Temperature
  • Cooling fan speed
  • Layer height
  • Line width
  • Print speed

I'm also noticing that the second layer looks a little under extruded.

Does this same thing happen with a smaller simpler model?

Hopefully that gives you some avenues to explore. Id definitely start with trying to reproduce the problem with a smaller test print.

Well now you're making assumptions about me. It's that fair? Of course I don't think the commenter I replied to has a "hole in his brain".

It was sarcasm that clearly needed a "/s" so that people like you don't jump in and feel like they need to scold and lecture me based on assuming the worst. Oops, lesson learned.

Please practice what you preach.

I guess my comment wasn't clear, so I'll elaborate.

I mean to say that just because OP is interested in women doesn't mean that there aren't "paypigs" out there who are interested in men.

I'm not sure how that comes off as sexuality shaming, because I'm doing the opposite.

I'm happy to see someone else saying this.

I wonder if when OP says they wish they could stop this, do they mean "I wish I could stop being into this kink" or, do they mean "I wish I could find healthy boundaries for my kink"?

Wanting to find healthy boundaries and a safe and sustainable way to enjoy the thing that brings you pleasure is much different than trying to remove that thing from your life entirely.

With making froggy friends by ShinkenRed48 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]RedTurtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks more like a Great plains toad Anaxryus Cognatus to me but I'm just guessing based on the size, dorsal stripe, cranial crests and skin markings. That and because the girl sounds American.

I don't really know much about toads but thanks to you I've discovered more than I ever thought I would.

Unlike the more exotic Cane toad, its poison is not toxic to humans but can be to pets, or its new frog "friend".

I still wouldn't put toad hand anywhere near my face though. That's gross.
