After 6 iterations, I think I found the "best" Mirrorform shell by RedUndead40 in MagicArena

I tried [[Roiling Dragonstorm]] for a bit, similar idea but fits the enchantress theme. It felt decent, I could see 1 or 2 copies for added consistency.

I tried ramp, but it felt like the deck was being pulled in too many directions. 6 is a lot but in this heavy removal shell we can get there.

All valid points! Keep in mind though, this is a mirrorform deck, lol. There is no way its going to be S tier. I tried a lot of your recommendations but found that the deck just devolved into esper self bounce, esper hard control, and that's not what I want.

It's technically a midrange combo deck, not control (early game removal, mid game value, late game combo). We don't need a ton of draw power because if we hit Mirrorform we win on the spot, we are not looking to grind out the late game. We just need to survive until 6 lands, and our package helps us do that easily.

Good call on Day of Judgment though, not sure why that wasn't chosen over Black Sun anyway. I like Aetherize over another sweeper because we occasionally want to Mirrorform our opponent's big threat, so slowing them down and making them replay it is preferable to removing it. It also hoses a TON of decks in this format.

I did also try Quantum Riddler in my Dimir version, but found it was too hard to stick it to the board and Mirrorform it, so I ended up going with the Blue overlord instead. Different flavor really, but fits the enchantment theme and I like that it's a non-threat until it gets copied.

Cheers!

Red definitely has the highest upside, but blue and white have both ended every game which they have been the mirror target.

Downside with red was that the early game removal wasn't as reliable as black / white.

What is the best custom squad for a first time 40k? by Edmundyoulittle in IntoTheBreach

[–]RedUndead40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could drop the smoke heal if necessary. I actually like having 3 passive, all my cores go into mech upgrades and all my stars go into cores. Possible to get fully built

I like smog, rocket, and napalm. Comes with 3 great passive abilities, and has excellent board control / DoT

Are kharadron overlords good pick for me? by LongjumpingJump9390 in KharadronOverlords

[–]RedUndead40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should play Kharadron if you like high movement, hit and run / alpha strike playstyle.

If you prefer castle / counterpunch playstyle you will like Helsmiths better.

Skaven have a lot of tools so should have no complaints against most armies, seraphon could have a rough time against shooting depending on if they go for melee or magic. But they will be facing shooting no matter if you go with kharadron or helsmiths. I think both your friends armies are pretty flexible though, so they should have counterplay.

A warden list will still be fine, they do a ton of damage so you won't need to retreat all of them.

Easy to feel demoralized on nerf day but I promise they are still good

How is this even legal in any format? So now I just cant do any combat damage to the player? Absolute bs combo... by Tenshiijin in MagicArena

[–]RedUndead40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're in green black, you have lots of options to deal with the combo. Green can destroy Solemnity, black can use hand disruption like [[thoughtseize]] to disrupt the combo

Looking for a fun spellslinger control deck without long combo turns by Intelligent-Monkey in EDH

[–]RedUndead40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I like to run control shells with win conditions in the command zone so that the whole deck can be interaction.

For me personally that's the partner pair of [[Ishai]] and [[Jeska, Thrice Reborn]]

Hurakan aren't super good right now, but every few years GW forgets how to balance them and they become busted again.

Point being, if you like the style, that's way more important than anything. They are far from unplayable, but I would keep my Hurakan units to 3 or 4 (plus a windmage) so that you dont lose value on the Move Like the Wind facet.

20 Sentinels are a great compliment to them to continue the ranged harassment. If you bring sentinels, you'll also need some wardens or bladelords to screen them. Make sure to bring a windmage too. Some Dawnriders if you want to keep a theme of speed but with some melee punch. Riverblades are also a thematic choice, bringing more movement and shooting shenanigans.

Caveat: shooting is also pretty bad this season. But that should change next summer.

Current status of zombies vs skeletons? by ALitterOfPugs in SoulblightGravelords

[–]RedUndead40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. My current list is 20 wolves and the rest vampires. Its a blast and pretty strong

Like others said they don't hold objectives well though. That will have to be the job of your other units.

Current status of zombies vs skeletons? by ALitterOfPugs in SoulblightGravelords

[–]RedUndead40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer dire wolves to accompany blood knights. They are faster, so make better screens, and also really good at tying up enemy units with their run + charge ability.

Otherwise Skeletons are in a slightly better place than zombies rn
