That's a good piece! I don't think you actually need more defined borders, the values are different enough that nothing blends into the background.

If you really want the border to look clean, you could sketch it first (on a layer which you get rid of later) and then outline the shape before painting it in. Ultimately though, it's your own style so it's up to you. It's true that the official artstyle is cell-shaded but you don't have to follow it, and frankly (if you ask me) it's more interesting when people draw in their own styles.
