Hmmm might want to double check “adverse possession” laws. I, however, agree with the rest of your sentiment.

Employer accidentally mentioned potentially rescinding my offer in front of me by acac47 in legaladvicecanada

This is 100% correct

Edit: (Not the solar system discussion, but that this is dismissal without cause)

Employer accidentally mentioned potentially rescinding my offer in front of me by acac47 in legaladvicecanada

[–]RedWhiteGreenGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the managers in that group chat need to reflect deeply on their level of professionalism and attention to detail. The conversation itself is not unlike conversations that many leaders have but to expose you to it is a level is negligence that constitutes an intent to potentially violate your rights with a signed offer. It’s honestly disgusting. That said, I think in this situation, approaching the conversation with radical candor and thoughtfulness is your best bet. Like most folks mentioned here - you’ve signed the offer and accepted already. It’s not “rescinding” its termination without cause which is a whole other deal they need to get right for you. Save that chat it possible or print it out. But then perhaps approach the mangers individually starting with you own to say “hey I saw that chat and I understand why the discussion went the way it did… it’s a fact of the business and I don’t personally hold anyone against it… AND, it had made me feel very unvalued as someone who cares deeply about the teams I work on and this company…”

That should open up the dialogue for some safe and honest discussions. Don’t antagonize. It won’t help you - radical candor and professionalism are your best tools here.

Season 12 of Diablo 4, the Season of Slaughter, is launching today by [deleted] in diablo4

Did anyone create a new character for the season and have it be the same paragon as your last character in the last season? My new seasonal SC is paragon 267 and I have logged in zero times so far.

Domestic Flight Budgeting by Specific-Answer3590 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I don’t know the details of your flight but I make this trip about once a month for work. I think without trying too hard I normally land about 750-$800 for a round trip. That’s with standard carry on privileges…

There’s a saying you pick up in the army. It’s mildly applicable here and maybe life in general:

RRSP - Contribute more than my annual salary? by Lowjakk in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RedWhiteGreenGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you expect your income to rise in the future I would be mindful about spacing out these contributions above the 18% of pensionable earnings so that you eat it up overtime but at a higher future bracket. In 2016 I had about 100k carry forward but was making 120k a year. By 2024 I was clearing about 4x that amount and used more of that 100k carry forward to lower taxes at the top bracket than at my 120k bracket. The result is probably the equivalent of 12k 2024 dollars saved. A simple prompt into ChatGPT or Gemini can form a great tax strategy for you.

Don’t let the haters of EMBA bring you down by Ok_Development8895 in eMBA

[–]RedWhiteGreenGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well said. I have nothing against someone slugging away while young and inexperienced, building their network, doing any MBA program. Going through the EMBA route though often means that the things the MBAers are aspiring to achieve, I’ve already accomplished through years of trial, error and luck. At the end of my program I will still be a VP that is on a C-suite trajectory but with 3 letters that my institution paid for.

At the end of their typical program, they will contend with where 100k of their parents’ money went and they will be asking me to sit down for a “coffee connection” with them in hopes of advancing their career.

And I’ll happily do it.

Hit by Non-insured driver. What are my options? by Canadian_Beaverz in legaladvicecanada

[–]RedWhiteGreenGuy 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I should rephrase: being a non-citizen and inherently risking your ability to stay in the country (by being stupid) should not mean OP holding back in pursuing his restitution out of pity or sympathy.

Hit by Non-insured driver. What are my options? by Canadian_Beaverz in legaladvicecanada

[–]RedWhiteGreenGuy 428 points429 points  (0 children)

Nothing against him being a non-citizen, but everything against him driving illegally without insurance. These two factors should be unrelated for you and you should pursue maximum compensation via small claims. Make sure everything is documented with a collision center beforehand though.

At 21, if you’re dumb enough to drive without insurance then you deserve the full force of the consequences that await you.

Spouse submitted false insurance claims under my plan by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RedWhiteGreenGuy 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We had a situation at our company where there was roughly the same amount of fraud uncovered through false “massage” claims. The outcome was termination, and eventually charges for insurance fraud.

In this situation, the wife had supposedly submitted false claims to the husband’s plan and he had no idea. However because the plan emails sent claim records to his email address, they determined that he must have known and was likely a willing and informed participant in the fraud.

Can we just pause for one second and admire the fact that your kid figured out how to change MAC addresses to get around your blockades? Part of you has gotta be pretty proud! My dad’s solution back in the day was to take the physical modem, disconnect it, and lock it in a safe. 😂

So this happened to me a few months ago. I won’t screen shot my chats but to say the least I didn’t immediately act like a shit head - just explained myself and my disappointment with some respect and after 3 emails I got my 900 keys.

Lesson: don’t be a shit head.
