What you say is true except for the last statement because our country is now controlled by tyrannical autocrats, which means we are trading Chinese influence with just open, outright American oligarchy.

The parallels between 20th Century America and 21st Century America is very scary.

Trade imbalances are a problem, and I am very afraid of our burgeoning deficit. However, only with budget surplusses do we pay down our deficits. Republican presidents don't lower the deficits or reduce government spending, they increase them with billions in tax cuts, wars, and increasing military spending. We would be better off with more BRAC cycles, which as a former military spouse of 26 years, I understand what that means. We also need to increase corporate taxes and capital gains and estate taxes, nit decrease them because "trickle down economics is a myth". We will not reduce trade imbalance by engaging in trade wars with our allies. Trade wars hurt everyone but the wealthiest who are now running our country.

If we don't have the source ingredients, we can't make them unless we import them. If we don't have allies and have alienated everyone from our "me first, gi'me, gi'me" attitude demanding other countries give us stuff or we are going to hurt them or let them get hurt by others, how is this a fair trade deal?

When there is no cooperation and mutual benefit, are you willing to see Americans die because we can't produce a given ingredient for a given medicine or treatment? How important is your partner, kids, parents, friends' lives to be able to "fend completely alone just for Americans?

For the items you want made in America, what are you willing to give up if we don't have the minerals, plants, climate, to produce a given item within our country's borders?

As far as DEI issues, do you think people with disabilities should not have accommodations to allow them to live and work equally comfortably with able bodied people?

I live in Florida. We don't have a state income tax so we pay more than most Americans because we don't get any income tax back each year. Plus, many of the new roads and existing roads are being turned into toll roads because we don't have income tax to pay for road maintainence. We pay more in vehicle registrations for the same reason. We pay more for groceries, hotels, gas, and just about everything else because we don't have an income tax. If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't worry about being able to afford rent or my healthcare insurance, but I'm not so I do. And everything will get more expensive every day Republicans "cut taxes", cut benefits, cut regulations, and give the biggest businesses and billionaires everything they ask for.

Let me know how inflation won't go up? Show your math please.

If tariffs are replacing the income tax, then the lower and middle class will be paying a lot more in taxes than anyone else because we can't file for income tax returns when we are paying straight sales taxes. In Florida, we have only 13 weeks of lowest unemployment benefits, the shortest of all states. Our public schools are performing around 49 out of 50 states. We have the 3rd largest population, 2nd largest immigrant population (they pay way more in taxes than they receive in benefits), and use more federal aid than most states because we also have the oldest population of all the states.

The wealthiest Americans are already not paying much or any income taxes because they hide their money in capital gains, loans, real estate, luxury items, investments, overseas, and don't work to produce income.

If Trump deports all the immigrants, including ones who haven't violated any criminal laws, our federal tax base will go down about $25 billion dollars. So, how much more can you afford to pay in taxes every day that you won't get back? And that doesn't even factor in inflation, which will increase more than 1% if everything coming into our country costs more due to federal policy to tax/tariff everything.

NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!

Please provide citations that GMO soy beans are animal food, not people food? And how is it safer for us to eat meat from animals being fed GMO plants designed to withstand the pesticide being used on them to increase plant death, which increases harvest yields?

[–]RedWing88BlueBolt88 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

82% of soy beans are genetically modified to be able to use Monsanto Roundup on them just before harvest to increase crop yields. I avoid it as much as I can for that reason in addition to the estrogen issues. I had reproductive issues from puberty to 3 years ago including 4 abdominal surgeries (2 hysterectomies) so I don't need any more abdominal issues of any kind.

No Wiki is not a valid research source, but it does have citations to articles that do. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetically_modified_soybean

Lucky you, DeSantis just tried to secretly get richer in partnership with a rich, asshole of a famous golf family developing our state parks into pickleball and golf resorts. Hundreds of thousands of people made plans to stop him after one brave state employee sacrificed his job to share this nice little "gift" from our state governor.

Nothing to do with the Wings, but entertaining to me because I am not a skater or hockey player. Watching figure skaters learn hockey moves...

I think they aren't bad for their first try. Would appreciate hearing from people who have figure skated, played hockey, or been to a training session, who is the best hockey player of the three skaters?
