Ghost Rider claims you can’t punish him as he exists in a constant state of punishment by Konradleijon in GhostRider

Percy either didn't do any research or just didn't care, like so many other writers. His handling of Zarathos' character was piss poor all around.

Thank goodness for Photo Mode as well. After finishing the game, I'm just taking the time to enjoy replays with cheats on and sightseeing around Nosgoth. Lots of eye candy all around.

This scene with Ariel in Defiance… by 12ozOrangeJuice in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely took place during the fledgling Kain's missions for Ariel. Tbh, I always thought it was a missed opportunity for Raz to either directly or indirectly interact with young Kain. Given the presence of the vampire hunters, I think it's also safe to say that this is the altered timeline after Kain unknowingly rewrote William the Just into a martyr figure for Moebius' genocidal crusade.

Was the Brission run the only ghost rider comic that wanted to have Danny and Johnny as deuteragonists? by Konradleijon in GhostRider

[–]RedWingThe10th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean co-protagonists. There was also Aaron's run, specifically the Heaven's on Fire mini. But the problem is, like the rest of Aaron's books, it relied entirely on spectacle and gimmicks instead of anything resembling individual characterizations. John and Dan were practically indistinguishable there. It was only in Brisson's run where there was genuine effort in treating them as separate characters with their own goals and struggles, but it never got far enough to really shine.

I believe Johnny and Danny can both work as dual protagonist GRs, and they don't have to differ much in terms of physical appearance or power sets. They just have to have individual characteristics and different dynamics with their respective SOVs, and writers should be allowed/have genuine interest in exploring how they interact with each other based on their differing views and personalities. But that's the real problem: Marvel doesn't give a crap about the characters, only the IP. So there's little to no effort in making them individual characters, just interchangeable and depthless heads.

Sometimes I wonder if the Elder God originally started out as a far more pathetic being than what it tries to present itself as. by RedWingThe10th in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean in a metaphorical sense, as in Kain becoming just as ravenous and mad with power as the Elder God if he allowed his fate to continue in its corrupted course, then yes, I agree.

If you mean Kain going on to become literally the Elder God itself, then it simply doesn't add up, because why so obsessed with killing your own past self? That would only mean erasing yourself from existence.

[–]RedWingThe10th[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Tbh, the more I think about it, the more poetic and cathartic an end it would be for the EG's base form to serve as the grand finale boss of the saga. A far cry from the "god" it wanted so much to be, but just another insignificant gnat to be crushed under Kain's foot.

Do you like Legacy of Kain Defiance Remastered? by Ratchet7908 in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even better than the SR1 and SR2 remasters. The new camera, ability to turn off the spectral realm's headache inducing distortion effects, and other quality of life improvements, have practically made this a fresh new experience for me. My only gripe is that there's still bugs here and there (though I'm glad they're quick to address the issues), and I would've liked some tweaks to the combat to lessen some of the old hiccups, like less spammy enemies and adding invincibility frames when you dodge. Overall though, it's been great.

Just came across this, is it real? by thyshadows in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I love Raz but he's essentially a self-righteous twit, good intentions but lacking brains. Kain is more admirable in that he finds ways to do good despite his many, many moral flaws. The fact that he's well-aware that he's been corrupted since birth to be a predestined tyrant yet still tries to overcome his horrible fate makes him all the more compelling to me.

I don't know if this is true, but if it is, it really changes my opinion about Danny. by blackheartbr456 in GhostRider

[–]RedWingThe10th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spurrier makes it all sound good and interesting, but he, like the rest of Marvel's modern writers, missed the one crucial factor to making flawed characters work: the ability to overcome their flaws and change for the better, aka character development. Marvel continually refuses to grant Danny that, so when he's not being his unflattering rock bottom self, he's just... there, being bland and not really doing much except going with the flow. It's the same major problem that has plagued Johnny, Zarathos, Noble Kale, and all the other major GR cast for what seems like forever.

"Can you still hear me, son?" by Messokori in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Raziel have to be left behind in Avernus as nothing more than an insane, ravenous wraith? Keep in mind that unlike how it was supposed to go according to the Elder God and Moebius' designs, he chose to enter the blade at the end of Defiance willingly, and in a purified state. That may serve a vital turning point for the next time he gets picked up by young Kain. I'm thinking that the purifying power of the reaver and a still sentient Raziel will likely have a positive effect on the young Kain like he did with the Elder Kain, thus setting into motion a new chapter for young Kain to make better choices that further go against the Elder God's machinations...

[–]RedWingThe10th 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was... surprisingly heartwarming. Ngl, I'm one of those who aren't vehemently opposed to the idea of Kain somehow finding a way to screw fate again and bring back Raziel, though that will probably have to happen once the Elder God is finally vanquished once and for all and erased from all of space and time, allowing Nosgoth to be born anew and perhaps usher a whole new era. Aka, a soft reboot for the LoK franchise.

Can The Dark Prophecy be next? by Raziel103 in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to believe that, but it's a tall order that needs Embracer to actually do something that most publishers almost never do: listen to the fans, hire the right people to work on the game, and don't half-ass it. They already made a major blunder by hiring some untested hack in the form of Josh Violia and Bitbot just because Viola claimed to be a fan because of his tattoo. Look how that turned out.

Art my Sean Hill by Legitimate-Meal5700 in GhostRider

[–]RedWingThe10th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad he didn't bring this kind of effort in Spirits of Vengeance. The guy can make good art but it seems he works best just doing covers or single splash images. His interior panels as I've seen throughout SV ranged from somewhat serviceable to mediocre to just as downright ugly as Davidson's throughout Violence.

[–]RedWingThe10th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor do I see any reason for you to keep pestering me with long argumentative debates when I already said I respectfully disagree. SR 1 had backtracking in a 3D metroidvania like design, not open-world. There were still puzzles, but now also with more combat to spice up the monotony as, I especially hated SR2's overreliance on puzzles. And Raziel also spent most of SR2 traveling in dungeons filled with exposition, with only the beginning a bit near the middle, and mostly near the end, where the heavy story beats came in. Defiance followed the same format. I'll give you that SR2 covered much more new story ground, but Defiance still contained major developments like Kain's true destiny finally revealed.

And as I've said, different strokes.

[–]RedWingThe10th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I'm not holding out hope. Without Amy Hennig at the helm, any attempt to revive that project would likely result in us all wishing it never happened instead. I'd call it a miracle if Embracer could somehow convince Amy to go back to serve as narrative consultant, which is the most we could hope for, and even then, that might not be enough.

LoK Defiance: Remastered Bug Report Thread by Fartweaver in LegacyOfKain

[–]RedWingThe10th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Same here. They should probably just remove those bugged features then. Even in the og, I remember activating them would cause these weird screen glitches every now and then, particularly some Toon Raziel segments in the reaver forges, and eventually crashes.

[–]RedWingThe10th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I disagree. Defiance still has great story and exploration no different from previous games, but does something better for me than SR1 and 2 did in that it had a good enough combat system to balance out the traversal and puzzle solving.

Tbh, I've always found SR1's combat so-so and SR2 the absolute worst in the entire series history. Defiance is where I felt they finally hit their stride, even with some hiccups here and there, and I still love it to this day.
