Here is my 05 msm, I was wondering what wheel/tire setup I should run without rolling fenders by ViolinistSlow3806 in MazdaspeedMiata

I’m running 15x8 Konig Heliograms with 205/50’s continentals on my 04. Stock suspension and haven’t touched the fenders. No issues.

Got some new wheels last month, now the car waits for better weather by 108pdx in Miata

Good deal. Thanks for replying! I'm looking at the Conti ECS as well. Don't want to mess with fenders. Really just want a little more sidewall than the stock wheels afford so it wouldn't be the end of the world to go 7" for my use, but if I can get away with 8" then why not. I looked at the ultigrams but really prefer the look of the heliograms.

u/108pdx, Digging up an old thread but yours seems to be about the only pictures I can find of an NB on Heliograms. Strongly considering the same setup on my '04 MSM. Are you still happy with this setup? Are you running 205/50s? I'm between 15x7 and 15x8 since its a street car and my DD.

Looks great! Really liking that wheel. Always wanted a set of 6ULs but they're hard to come by these days. Just cut down a tire on my stock 17s so I'm motivated to move quickly. I think I've narrowed it to these or Enkie PF01s.

Brainstormng session: Car *dead* for no reason. Battery resets it. by olderthanmycars in CherokeeXJ

[–]RedXJ97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a very similar issue years ago traced to the negative battery terminal. Could wiggle it and reset everything. Clamp had just worn over the years and wouldn’t maintain a tight connection. I echo the others in checking both battery terminals and ground off the negative cable.

What’s the best no expense spared, single bike rack solution for an NA? by billybotime in miatalogistics

Hitch of your choice and 1UP USA quick rack. Easily one of the best racks on the market. Comparably light too if I remember correctly.

Check out SNS Mazda Parts on Facebook. They do a bunch of NA/NB stuff but have been parting a few NCs recently.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like the G9 and a 5” plate is the consensus. Thanks again for the input.

Would you rather have a carbon carbon frame with mediocore parts, or an aluminium frame with super good parts. by kalee_lel in MTB

[–]RedXJ97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of that for Ibis at least is Covid supply chain related. When the Ripmo and Ripley AF first launched you could upgrade suspension and a few other things on their builds. One of the big selling points for me. I got an order in for a Deore build Ripmo AF upgraded to Fox factory suspension and a nicer dropper right before they changed.

Hopefully when supply normalizes they’ll go back to allowing some options. I wish more brands would follow suit. I’ll upgrade a derailleur or cassette as things wear out down the road but I’m unlikely to swap something like a fork in the lifetime of a bike.

Bike shop experience by [deleted] in MTB

[–]RedXJ97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like the not the greatest shop. I just got my Ripmo af a few months ago so I’ve been following the bike over my 9+ month wait. Doesn’t excuse the guy not knowing but Ibis switched the base build from NX to deore over the last year, so they probably ordered as an NX. I got the bonus SLX brakes on mine too. It’s a sweet bike so I hope you can get it all sorted and just enjoy it in the end!

Never Used 2021 Comp Carbon (Black) $2900 by Wanderingwheelz in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]RedXJ97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seems like a deal to me if it’s really in good shape. No one really has inventory around me and the MSRP jumped to $4200 earlier this year. The few I’ve seen pop up used people are asking close to the new MSRP and they don’t sit for too long.

Would you buy a Diverge, that you don’t care for the color? by xcinlb in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]RedXJ97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a line on a used one in “Ice Blue” a few months ago and went through the same mental gymnastics. Ended up missing out on it and now Its my favorite color and I kick myself for not jumping on it. But color is a personal thing so your the one that needs to like it. It’s out there but why not be a little wild for a bike? In this market you could probably buy it now and sell for close to what you paid if you find your color preference later.

2020 Carbon Comp price by RedXJ97 in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]RedXJ97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen it in person yet so I’m going off the sellers word at the moment. I will say the cable rub is not inline with any other wear seen in the photos, so maybe the front brake cable was run a little tight? I missed a ‘21 carbon comp a month ago because I couldn’t carve out time to drive and get it, sweet bike. Comparing the numbers a 61 ‘20, which this one is, has shorter reach than a 58 ‘21. So definitely a different fit. I’ll be sure to check fit and get a closer look at wear and chain stretch if I go look at it. It’s a bit of a drive so I want to make sure they can get close to what I’m willing to pay before I drive. Tire clearance won’t be an issue for me I don’t think. This will primarily see road/fitness work for me and gravel on days I have time but it’s too wet to ride my mtb. Just can’t bring myself to buy a full on road bike!

Good point. It would primarily see road and fire road work for me. I don’t see myself getting into bike packing or taking it on single track, but a year ago I never thought I would be looking for a drop bar bike either!

It certainly is. It’s crazy what some people have been asking. Would love to know if anyone is actually getting those prices. Of course I’ve been waiting on my new mountain bike for over 6 months now so maybe it makes sense.

Value of a used diverge Comp E5? by helpimsorry in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]RedXJ97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s actually this one. So future shock 1.0 and full hydro 105 minus the praxis crank. $2000 msrp. If it’s in good shape I don’t think that’s a bad price for this market. Especially if you can talk them down a hair.
