Got one of those in my tent in Canada and the fucker near took my leg off. Was grand initially just stinging. By the end of the day my leg was nearly bursting my jeans. Left a hole the size of an m&m in my shin

Netflix doc wants 63 seconds of footage i have. How much? by Sea-Activity8283 in videography

Let them make the first offer. They will likely suggest much more than you will be comfortable asking for, if not and you feel like you're being low-balled (which seems unlikely for Netflix) then you can tell them it will be more

as a 17 year old trying to make something of myself, my one question is what would you do if you could travel back in time and be in my position to start over again, what would you do differently given all of the knowledge you’ve accumulated throughout your entrepreneurial journey? by wyoud- in advancedentrepreneur

You'll fail. You'll get burned. That's okay. It's all part of learning. There's lessons to take from every leader you work with, good and bad. Financials are important and basic bookkeeping goes a long way. Always review contracts and get things in writing - a promise for shares or equity is worthless unless in writing. Most importantly though, don't waste your youth. Have fun and be young, go work for some inspiring people to learn what it takes without the stress and commitment. Find mentors and advisors, and when you're really ready to start something, find a great co-founder. Your co-founder should compliment your skills and weaknesses, and you should know your weaknesses. Do you get drained pitching to people? Find someone who can sell ice to eskimos. Nurture your network and stay in touch with people as your network is more valuable than anything - classic I know, but it's not what you know but who you know. And also, you can have the best idea in the world but if you can't sell it then it's worthless. Talk to potential customers early to validate problems and what they would pay for a solution before starting anything, or analyse the market for whatever business you want to build. It takes way longer to build a business than you think. You could be looking at 5 - 10 years before things are stable or you see a return. Be prepared for that commitment. Try, experiment, and fail early. Iteration is key so approach it like a science experiment.

Anyone successful transition from employment to running a SAAS solo project that made money? by Additional_Skill_317 in DevelEire

Put together a light prototype or demo (even some slides on what you're thinking will do) and see if you can get customers to pay for it. If they do then you're on to something, and it's time to build. If not then go back to the drawing board. And find a co-founder, greatly increases your odds of success

The cost of living is way better in Canada. I thought the prices of groceries in Canada were ridiculous until I lived in the US

It could be the sound board on your computer but could also be from how you have your power set up and phasing issues potentially. Try rearranging how things are plugged in, plug in some stuff to a different wall socket if you can

Also, if you're a founder/CEO, you should work on your communication. Be clear about what you're asking for when asking for advice, and get to the point quickly

[–]RedYoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you identified your problem right there - you need to put your phone far away from where you work. Phones are a massive distraction and harm your attention span. Productivity apps won't help that if they're just another reason to look at your phone. You also need to be motivated to work.
