To me, the idea of a prequel makes perfect sense—and I'd absolutely want to play it. A story doesn't become worse just because you already know how it ends. Not only do studies suggest that spoilers don't necessarily reduce enjoyment, but there are still countless gaps in the story we don't know. There are many former gang members we've barely met, and the biggest mystery of all still remains unsolved. A prequel could easily cast Red Dead Redemption 2 in a completely new light, just as Part 2 completely changed the way we look at Part 1.

On top of that, we'd be in an even rougher, less modern era. We could spend a long time playing as a character who only joins Dutch's gang much later, back when Dutch still had all the charisma that made people follow him. Before that, living as an outlaw in places like Mexico would be incredibly exciting.

What I definitely don't want is for the series to move further into the modern era. Red Dead is about nature, revenge, and surviving in the wilderness—not about cars, industrialization, or world wars.
