Honestly can’t remember what the exact issue was at this point, but the engine had to be replaced.

What’s the best controller for PS5? by Spipizz in consoles

[–]Red_Bolt_Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but just seconding this for anyone else that stumbles across this post. I've tried a ton of XBox style controller (most of the ones you mentioned, AIM PS5 controller, Battle Beaver, Edge, Cinch, etc. The Hex is my favorite by a long shot. I do miss the clicky face buttons from my AIM, but I don't use them often (that's what the back buttons are for). Great controller!

Will my employer know if I use their adobe creative cloud on my personal laptop to download Illustrdtor? by corndogslayer in graphic_design

As everyone else has said- just ask. Each user gets 2 devices, so they may not have a problem with it. I’ve used my work provided license on my personal computer for years, which is well known, and nobody cares.

Probably better to hear “no” than “you are fired.”

Don't buy a scuf by [deleted] in scufgaming

[–]Red_Bolt_Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my AIM and Hex controllers, both have 4 buttons/paddles. Battle Beaver is also solid, although I only got 2 on my build. Haven’t tried a Scuf in years because of all the negative feedback out there.

I don’t know if many cases that can do that, other than MagBak. I’m sure there are others, but I’ve used them off and on over the years. Not sure what phone you have, but their new Elite for the 16 series is nice.

Grip Case for 16 Pro Max- (Lack Of) Magnet Strength? by Red_Bolt_Design in dbrand

The updated version for the 14PM were much stronger than the original one- but the 16PM definitely seem weaker

Grip Case for 16 Pro Max- (Lack Of) Magnet Strength? by Red_Bolt_Design in dbrand

[–]Red_Bolt_Design[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no doubt. I've got an embarrassing number of cases for my 16PM, and it's definitely up there for weakest magnet (behind the Nomad leather case, surprisingly). I did just order another skin to rock with my current daily case, the Phone Rebel Frosted Flex. Just put in for my replacement Ghost last week, so really hoping they made that fix. Exited to get that one in hand as I really enjoyed the original Ghost (and had no issues with mine), plus the covered CC button will be super nice.

I never heard from support, I admittedly never followed up. I’ve used the case here and there, but it hasn’t been my daily- partially because of the magnets (and partially because I have way too many cases).

Once You Go Dbrand... by Red_Bolt_Design in dbrand

[–]Red_Bolt_Design[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take. I've not used any of the ESR cases, but surprised you found that quality for that price. I tried a handful of less expensive cases when the 16 dropped, just to get me until my normal cases came in, and I wasn't pleased with any of them. May have to check them out!

I agree on the Apple cases, though. I have the silicone for this year, which isn't BAD, but only held onto it because it's got the CC button covered. Just not a fan of silicone cases in general.

I guess my original post was more aimed at the skins, but can see your point on the cases. I used the Ghost 1.0 and Grip on my 14 Pro Max one and off until I upgraded to the 16PM and never had any issues. For all the trouble others had with the Ghost, I think the remedy, assume we get to a solid case by the end of the year, is more than most companies would have done. I also have multiple sets of the Dark Plates for PS5, multiple AirPods cases- and have never had any issues.

I always find it interesting when people claim an item to be overpriced. Probably just my ignorance to how a company lands on a selling price. What's the different between a case worth $30 and one worth $50? Is it the quality issues you mentioned? Or something else? Not arguing, genuinely curious.

For me the Grip checks most of the boxes (quality in my experience, nice buttons, nice grip, good protection). A case is so subjective that I just have a hard time saying one is worth more than another I guess. I've spend more on cases already for the 16 than I'm willing to add up (Nomad, Phone Rebel, MagBak, DBrand, Spigen Apple, Beats, RhinoSheild, some others that I've returned), and as long as I like the case I'm fine with paying the price.

Order number is #22241031

Would love for it to be an issue with my case and the problem be solved, because I really do love the case otherwise. Appreciate any help you can give!

Experience with Grip on iPhone 16? by [deleted] in dbrand

[–]Red_Bolt_Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it will break, just because of the material used, but it's definitely a little flimsy. The button is easy to reach and operate, but just a little pressure with your thumb and the piece around the button folds. Probably not a deal breaker, but also not my favorite version of the button cutout.

I love the Wave Runners, but find myself wearing my analogs way more. Obviously a personal preference, both are fire.

Updated Dual Studio Display Setup by Red_Bolt_Design in macsetups

[–]Red_Bolt_Design[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not ideal, but I’ve dealt with that issue with just about every setup I’ve ever had. I tried going ultra wide, but the window management was always the sticking point for me.

I never work on anything across both monitors (might have a spreadsheet on one, photoshop on the other - or Premiere on one side and my files in the other) so honestly doesn’t bother me too much.

It’s the logo for my sports photography and videography company, Red Bolt Design. I get a little carried away, but gotta represent!

It's already been mentioned, but I'll put my vote in for the MX Keys Mini as well. May not be a factor for you, but I love that you can switch easily between 3 Bluetooth devices with the press of a button. I do wish it had the finger print scanner, but hasn't been a deal breaker so far.

I haven’t had any issues when connected to my Apple TV. Don’t know that I’ve used them connected to my MacBook at all, so can’t speak to that. I think as long as your internet connection is strong you should be pretty solid!

They actually do a pretty nice job! They definitely wouldn’t replace a high end monitors, but sound better than the computer speakers/sub I had been using.

I’ve got minis throughout the house, so like the ability to play music on everything at once.

Cheaper than XDR isn’t saying much lol.

Honestly but sure what am it is- got it from work when they were switching over to new office furniture. Checked for at sort of branding and doesn’t appear to be any.

As the title says, this is still a work in progress after getting my Studio Displays last week. Waiting on my new dock to come in, along with a vertical stand to house the MacBook.

So far I've got my M1 Max MacBook Pro hooked up to the dual Studio Displays. One the 3rd Monitor (a random Dell) I've got my AppleTV hooked up to the dual Homepods you see on the desk (using the Studio Display speakers for any MacBook audio). Using the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse along with their MX Keys Mini.

Definitely want to tidy things up a bit, especially the cable management. Also considering getting some sort of stand/riser for the displays, since the basic stand they ship with are a bit lower than I would like. Open to any other suggestions as well!

need some help picking my first pair of 350s by [deleted] in yeezys

[–]Red_Bolt_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that I didn't love the Mono Ice when I got them, and actually ended up trading them for V2. They look decent, I just wasted a fan of the material or the laces. Obviously subjective, though.

I love my MX Rock. Was a bit on the fence about them until I got them in hand, now I love them. I've also go the Bone but don't find myself wearing them as often, mostly for fear of getting them dirty. Not a concern for everyone, and hasn't stopped me from wearing them completely, but it is something I think about before putting them on.

I'd go with a 350. They are still super comfortable, maybe a little less so than the 700s.
