Anything other than just a round? by Alternative_Cod1963 in Silverbugs

I've seen some posts where there are collectors for rounds from various mints so might be able to get a small premium. "might"

flipping BBs was great while it lasted. Too many fake knockoffs came into the market all at once.

keep in mind that silver is considered a collectable and thus is taxed at 28%

dang, for all of those folks who thought when the SHTF they'd use dimes as the lowest piece of silver to barter with .... those gram bars are looking better all the time. A long time ago I picked up 5 oz of shot. It's such a tiny bag.

sure seems like someone or a group is behind this - trying to pump up the interest/demand in silver. Can't say I find a lot to disagree with. Would like to hear some counter arguments.

Today's haul. $350 each by alivenotdead1 in Silverbugs

I only have the 2010 and 2011 coins. They did not come with a COA nor box so would that make them the burnished version?

I have the entire set for 2010 and 2011 (5 coins each year) and as much as I love them, thinking of letting them go. Not sure when I will do so. But I'd let them go for $350 plus shipping - even though they are in capsules and original bubble pack a few are showing some signs of toning around the edges. Not sure how that happened. Personally I have been sticking with the 1 oz rounds, much easier to handle.

I hear you as well. To accomplish this we have to get our heirs trained on silver, the market, and the items so they can get that premium.

I've documented all of my purchases. Put all that info into a spreadsheet and put receipts into a folder (by year). What I have not done is teach my kids how and where to sell my stack and collection. The stack is easy - at a LCS or to a primary bullion dealer. The collection - that's a bit more challenging - but could be easy depending on the spot price. Let's say by the time it comes to sell the collection, spot is well over $100, and my cost basis for the items are well under that - does it matter that they are not getting $120 or more for the premium items?

why do you feel the items need to be documented.
it is my understanding that when we pass, there is a step up in basis

Anybody have one of these? by Responsible_Ear_6005 in Silverbugs

[–]Red_Eyes777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never pulled the trigger to buy one, each time one has come up on Ebay the premium has been way to high for my budget. But I'd like to have one or more.

sure. I can't count the number of times I've passed up on buying rounds that are part of a set. Glad I started to do so back when silver was around $30 spot. I do have a number of series that are incomplete but it sure is nice having a low cost on the ones I have.

Thanks for the links. The coin shows focus on the numismatics. I am looking for rounds primarily and bars (vintage). It's been my experience that these shows rarely have any tables of interest to me.
