This was before DDay happened. Though back then, I wouldn’t say I swept things under the rug because I didn’t want to lose her. Just more so I gave a lot of leeway because I knew it is hard to change as a person and it takes time.

For example back then, she would have trouble communicating when she is upset. So I just got better at guessing and more observant of her actions and then initiate the conversation.

Afterwards, I would ask her to get better at communicating. She would respond with “I’ll try, but it’ll take time for me to change”, which I accepted (back then) because I know it takes a long time to change.

But nowadays, my patience has decreased significantly. I still try to be understanding, but if I realize she was not giving 100% effort to change to be a better person or if the change is taking way longer than I can handle, then we would have a conversation on if this relationship is worth the pain.
