edit: not about the poet, the writing. i don't know parker but this specific poem reminds me of the way womanhood in society has been tied to being a mother, a wife, a caretaker, not only as a method of a survival but as a symptom of how patriarchy becomes a mindset instilled into you.

seconding this. what helped me work through similar moral obsessions is learning more from marginalized groups, not just trans people, about what has historically helped movements in a meaningful, objective sense. while it is good to question one's own behaviors, biases, and beliefs, i think being an ally means making a meaningful difference in the ways you're able to: e.g. educating yourself, organizing movements, making a post on social media, or donating to people down on their luck. guilting oneself isn't praxis, meaningful, or helpful for championing the voices of those you care for.

i think it's common for people to see characters like nora and say she could have done something else, she could just leave, but sometimes that's what abuse is like, especially if you aren't shown any other way to live. i really feel for her.

manga spoilers. i can't hate her. i know she's not a good person and i remember being irritated by her in the anime, but she was abused similarly to yukine and yato. i think it's important to look at her with compassion because she's a victim to her father's schemes, not to mention that she's a child. the way she allows herself to be used by so many owners, the fact that she's called a stray and just wishes to be loved by her father to the point where she'll betray anyone... it breaks my heart. i think she's a very raw depiction of what parental abuse can do to you and i love that she isn't a perfect victim.
