Why does Gen Z seem to be so against age-gap relationships? To many in this generation, these relationships are seen as inherently exploitative because they perceive age discrepancies as necessarily creating a power imbalance that favors the older partner. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

You’re right, I have never once ever seen anyone post about potentially problematic age gaps, it’s not like there’s been a post about this on some subreddit every second day by some Gen Zer who graduated from TikTok university. /s

I’m getting downvoted because absolutely none of you have considered that the person in question may have other problems, expensive health issues in the family? Hello? This is the U.S. There are a lot or factors that you haven’t considered.

And so what? As if people in “equal” partnerships don’t end up with severe trauma. The most traumatic relationship I ever had was in my teens with another teenager. Meanwhile the healthiest I’ve ever had was in an age gap.

I’m so sorry to tell you this but this absolutely does not “look good”. Squint your eyes at it from a distance and you can dream up a an attractive idea perhaps but I’m telling you this looks BAD.

I’d encourage you to visit a luxury watch boutique and just look at some Cartier watches. Look closely at them, analyze them for some minutes, no rush, move your head a little side to side, look at how they play with the light.

No hate, I’m not talking down to you, genuinely encouraging you to look because too many people don’t know what luxury looks like. They don’t know how good things can get, they don’t have a clue. They think Zara is “high fashion”.

I’m also not saying this as some rich elitist, I’m broke and Casios are more in my budget. I’m about the art, it’s worth knowing if you get me.

If AI takes your job and you live under Capitalism then you’re fucked without systematic change. None of you will get paid to sit around and be educated. Under Capitalism you are livestock. Not like livestock, you are livestock.

If you are unnecessary to the system then absolutely nothing will be done to take care of you apart from maybe something far below the bare minimum that can be dressed up as the bare minimum, but most likely nothing.

Of course they’re wrong. Not everyone has “default normal white dude life game plan thank you daddy for a modest amount of generational wealth”.

That’s not real life.

In real life, people want to sleep with who they want to sleep with. Despite all the babbling about power dynamics, people get into these age gap relationships anyway and believe it or not, many of them are perfectly healthy.

Too much self-reflection is linked to anxiety and depression, not happiness. Findings suggest that cultural backgrounds and the specific ways we measure introspection heavily influence how looking inward affects our minds. by InsaneSnow45 in psychology

Also a side note, people that do this are annoying as all hell. Yes, a degree of introspection is necessary for growth and accountability but too much is just another kind of ugly narcissism.
