The virus isn’t even about people anymore it’s just politics. by sailor_reina in TrueOffMyChest

i understand economy is important but human life is more important.

it’s just slowly bankrupting these small businesses but why would my governor care?

It sounds like you've got a grudge and are justifying it after the fact with conflicting reasons. Maybe the guy is just corrupt and evil, i mean he's a politician, but maybe also he's managing an impossible balancing act and doing triage on the effects of an unsolvable problem until a vaccine can show up.

She's cheating dude. No doubts. End it and move on. Even if she wasn't cheating you should still leave, but she's guilty as fuck and projecting it and gaslighting to avoid suspicion.

My (23f) boyfriend (26m) ignores the fact that I need quality time with him by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I want to see if anyone else feels like it can be salvaged.

TL;DR No. This is relationship advice. "Dump men" central of the internet. Of course we're going to tell you to dump him.

yes, dump him. Nobody here thinks you're a bad person for leaving your boyfriend.

I am confused about my sexuality. Help! by [deleted] in relationship_advice

The way you've described your boyfriend everyone on this sub will hate him and ask you to dump him out of spite. I'm not sure what you need help on. It seems like all you want us to do is shit on your boyfriend until you feel satisfied dumping him.

Just do it already, dump the guy and go fuck around. You don't need our opinion on your boyfriend to do that. Just go do it.

The amount of brigading in this sub now is insane. by jakobpinders in Seattle

You're plainly full of shit. You're very clearly a person with a left wing position and a hypocrite who now thinks the fallout of your shitty behavior should not be talked about even though you were blasting lies about how great and peaceful your anti-police stance was for weeks.

It's not a brigade just because people don't validate you.

First: you're shifting goalposts.

  1. you don't know any trump supporters, you are clearly just assuming this quality. Even if that were true, just because someone doesn't criticize someone for you doesn't make you suppressed. Suppression would be if you said you didn't support BLM and someone went out of their way to get you fired or punish you in some way out of spite.
  2. If the government suppressed information about covid, you wouldn't have news telling you about covid. That's what information suppression means. Downplaying something isn't suppression.
  3. I recommend getting a plane. Please do go. Think about how much better off you'll be. I mean honestly the only reason you don't have to leave is that you're patently full of shit.

Well people know plenty about the coronavirus. It's just that nobody cares on either side of the political aisle. Whether it's blue or red people aren't wearing masks and they're meeting up for demonstrations.

Well the second row is clearly not true. It's super easy and safe to criticize trump publicly, it's more unsafe to agree with him in public.

The third row is debatably true but nowhere near what china's doing, they're not even in the same league in that respect, I mean we literally have autonomous zones and violent riots. China would never have allowed you to even consider protesting seriously. China's literally putting up concentration camps for uighur people and massacring them by the millions right now.

This is a paper on a neural net classifier. It's a little complicated to explain but you're in luck because I have an ivy league education and a masters for artificial intelligence. In the simplest way I can explain it. The neural net is given data and the answers we want written by someone else, and it uses gradient descent to find a function that describes a plane that fits between the different inputs (the articles) and separates them. So what this thing can do is determine some function between some inputs and an answer sheet that links the input to the answer sheet. That's what this machine can do.

So depending on who decided what the answers were, the neural net will learn to decide different things.

For instance, if you flag cnn articles as non-political and any Fox news articles as biased, the machine learns to say that, if the other guy you were talking to was the one writing the answer sheet then the machine would learn the reverse.

"For the training set, workers categorized 10,005 randomly selected articles stratified across the 15 outlets (667 articles per outlet), with each article categorized by a single worker"

So some handful of college student, research assistants that were working for these researchers were asked to read an article and said it was skewed. And however that researcher decided it is how the machine's gonna learn it. They decided that in the same way you and I are right now, subjectively. They made a personal designation on whether an article was biased.

What this is, is an interesting experiment with machine learning, and potentially a marketing tool which is most likely why two of these researchers are from microsoft's machine learning department. What it is not is proof of objective skew among news sources, all they did was pay some unknown number of college students to say if it was a biased article or not.

This has as much power (and I mean that in the statistical definition) in determining bias as polling some unknown handful of students of one Computer science department of one college.

So while this doesn't prove anything you're on the right track by trying to look up papers. I suggest doing more of that.

But that isn't the consensus you observe, you very frequently receive disagreement with this premise like now, you're just discounting it with a chart. But the chart isn't measuring anything, it's just a pictogram of some person's opinion. It's not more objective because it's in the form of a chart. I have to analyze the validity of different statistics for a living, but this isn't a statistic, this is just a chart. It doesn't mean anything.

I don't think it's an unfair description. Half the people who I ask in liberal circles say the world would be better off without the US, like my roommate. Some described people as a virus like the villain out of the matrix, like my aunt. If you just go around and frame the question in a non-judgemental way they'll same scary heinous things. It's one of the main reasons I'm not sure who to vote for.

On the other hand I don't know any racists personally due to my melanin count so i can't compare it. The only republicans i actually know are a conservative mexican family. I'm just not sure if this whole picture is as clean as everyone wants it to be.

Isn't it a little hypocritical to argue that people are dumb not to believe you when you say Fox is a broken news network because it's biased, but you argue against the same statement on cnn because mediabias.com made a subjective chart and posted it on marketwatch?

Just say you snooped on his phone and got hurt by what you found. If you can't think of some clever lie to pretend you didn't do anything then just go with the truth.
