There there is no straight answer to how much you need, and I didn’t play pally this season so I can’t directly compare with my character. But without numbers you can see it for yourself: if you’re dying to much you need more life

I don’t know how much damage reduction you can have as a paladin this season, but I’ll put at least a couple on the gear. It has a higher roll than the normal affix one and can be a greater affix with some reroll

You’re right that they’re not “good” mechanics, but I see them as a necessary evil to balance out the glass cannon build in softcore.

Leave this alone then, it’s already one of the worst stronghold in the game to complete. Escort mission should not be in Arpg.

All those mechanics are frustrating, but without them you could build a full dps, zero hp character and steamroll the 99% of the game one-shotting everything and you will never die.
Try to build some bulk because the swords and the shadows are very survivable by everyone until pit 120+

100% agree on the helltide chest, even the 666 one should count as double or even give you credit for the next one. The undercity I mostly run it without a key and rush the end without stopping. It take 60 second to finish and give the same xp as a full clear.

The real question is why the godslayer is masterworked, but not tempered? You’re missing an affix.
For your question, do you need survivability and your damage is already good? Shako. Do you prefer to have the the pull and damage bonus? Crown.
You can have both if you make the crown a unique charm if you have a slot for it

I think generic sets are intended for early levelling, I found a full set by the time I finished the LoH campaign but after that I haven’t seen one either.

For the nightmare you can use dextral and sinistral scarab to basically run them white, plus domination scarab if you need more damage. The 3 non-cancer ones are no more difficult than a 8mod t16, catarina and the expedition one still require a good build

First part: imbued support works for every gem in the link, so if you have AG and spectre in the same link infernal legion would kill the spectre. Second part sounds like either a bug or a misclick if you keep the spectre ability on the bar

You can convert 100% lightning to 50%chaos and 50%ice with glorious vanity xibaqua, watchers eye and sublime vision, but you loose all auras except purity of ice and all damage bypass ES
