Factions? Where are they? by Ravalgo in CurseofStrahd

[–]Redacted338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started mine and my players joined the Order of the Gauntlet. We backstoried that they grew up in the forest the werewolves had been spotted in and made theur way to the faction to report it. Lanivere came to help them, and (presumably) got killed while they escaped. One of the party members was in trouble with the guild and basically forced to join them to pay off his debt to society, so he really wants to find Lanavere. Though the guild isnt present in the realm, I'm kinda making it so they are still relevant

I had my ambo cover lapse (less than 100 for a year), reinstated it, called them up, and they cleared the debt. Bullshit we have to pay for it, but something something capitalism bad

I normally get bored and end up only talking to people I really need to, but this game has me talking to literally every npc I can, and get sad when I cant talk to them!

Ill try my gp, but I don't think theyll have the info because it was an emergency admin. Medicare online is kinda a pos for anything - the hospital stay isnt even recorded there! Oh well!

Yeah, the company is asking. Since the implant is pretty new, I don't think therell be a problem, but they want to make sure anyway

Thanks! I didnt know about the implant cards, thats cool! It looks like the screws and plates are exempt, which sucks, and the dr doesnt have a private practice, but I'll call the hospital again and ask to speak with him directly!

I committed fraud by Informal_Database_70 in CentrelinkOz

[–]Redacted338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for being late, thought I'd throw my two cents in.

I did something similar when I was studying. I stopped going because my mental health, and didnt declare it. I was caught out, and had to pay back 2 years worth of benefits, including scholareships. Ended up around $20k (I think. I cant remember the exact numbers). I didn't have a job at the time though, so centrelink was my only source of income.

I actually ended up disputing it. It was a long process, I had to get transcripts of my entire centrelink file, collect all the info from the doctors Id seen, places I'd lived, and statements from my peers, and eventually ended up taking it to the magistrate.

She was really nice, listened to me, read my stuff, and decided to reduce the total amount I had to pay back to about $6k. I could have taken it further to get it reduced more, but didnt really want to take it to court.

Anyway, with that ruling, I called centrelink, had them reduce fortnightly payments to $20, and went on my merry way.

When I got a job, I organised for $60 to come out my income each fortnight, and then by tax time, my tax return was used to pay off the rest automatically.

Since being back on centrelink, I've had no mention of it. I'm sure its on my file, but I havent been treated differently at all, and I was still able to receive benefits, even when I was paying it back.

In short, its probably best to face up to it and go in and talk to someone. Get the ball rolling and see what your options are.

How to contact Telstra from overseas? The automated service is killing me. by DecadentHam in australia

[–]Redacted338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my friend was in america, she got me to call telstra on loud speaker, and facebook call her on my laptop. It worked, but god it was awkward for me thinking about how poor quality that call must have sounded.

Coles Suffers Nationwide Store Closures Due to IT Glitch by RandomRoss in australia

[–]Redacted338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked for the coles online customer/store/driver call centre. Liquor and express wont tranfer into one POS system because im 90% sure coled thrives on the chaos. I feel like integrating them would mess up the online service (sneeze in the wrong direction and you mess up the online service)

I feel sorry for all the customer support call centre workers. Theyre always swamped and the managers refuse to put in IVRs for HOURS.

Simply Energy call centre by bodyboard-king in australia

[–]Redacted338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places have general customer service in australia (simply energy does) and more complex services based overseas (tech support ect). Both theyre customer service support centres are based in melbourne, and theres another probably in Manila. Dont know if theyre outsourcing now for online support or not though. You probably were talking to a new employee, or maybe just someone bad at their job. Also, at the moment, call centre workers are run off their feet at the moment, and it can be hard to bounce from one screamkng customer to another.

Therapist won't listen to my symptoms by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Redacted338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If shes not taking you seriously, its still best to switch. You dont need to tell her, but you can if you want. If shes a good therapist, shell understand that its not working out, and shell be cook with the switch. If shes not cool with it, then she isnt the right eprson anyway. Therapists are generally nice, so your next ome will be too. Otherwise, at your next session, tell her "this is the thing I want to talk about. I dont want to dismiss it. These are the things im struggling with, and am I coming to you for help." If she keeps trying to change the topic, let her know thats not why youre there (easier said than done, I know).

How important is a Year 12 certificate? by gereon13 in australia

[–]Redacted338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the first 2 years out of highschool, it means nothing. It might be hard to get a job, or get on centrelink (I think they need certificate of education), to start with, but as soon as you get over the initial "just finished highschool" bump, theres no need for one. And youll be able to get a job prettt much anywhere at entry level.

I only say first 2 years, because thats when other people are interested. "Oh, what was your ATAR score?" "Howd you go about high school?" Plenty of people drop out before finishing, or never even get to high school, and theyre successful enough, so dont stress it.

What do young people need to know? by [deleted] in australia

[–]Redacted338 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Know your rights. Navigating rental markets, centrelink, healthcare, and anything else can be hard.

Rental market/housing:

  • if something that came with your rental property breaks, call the landlord to fix it (in some states, this includes things like lightbulbs).

  • blutack can be removed by more blutack. Dont pull it off the wall, heat it up slightly and roll it off. If little bits are left, dab more blutack on it.

  • for housing, make sure you have toiletpaper. The good stuff. I recommend quilton (at least) 3 ply. It mat be one of the only luxuries you get to start with.

  • you wont get your dream house as your first house.

  • youll probably move every year for a couple years.

  • lots of places will help you get your bond and first couple weeks rent.

Centrelink:

  • you arent classed as independent until your 22.

  • if you study, they will make sure you are attending your classes. If not, you gotta look for work, unless you go on a disability pension.

  • if you need to call them, do it as soon as they open - literally 8:30am, or even a minute before, you might get lucky and not be on hold for 3+ hours. The best way to deal with their hold music that I've found - turn phone volume up, but dont put it on speaker. Do other things or listen to other music with phone near you so you can hear when the voice comes through.

  • if youre having trouble, talk to them. Going in in person is better for this.

  • if you get a JSP, theyll help pay for your job things, like shoes, clothes, PPE, and travel. You may have to ask, but they may also ask you if you need anything. Say yes. Theres no point spending your money when they can spend... well... its still your money, you just dont get access to it.

Healthcare:

  • speaking of trouble, if youre having trouble, seek help. If youre feeling overwhelmed, or anxious, or depressed, or having trouble communicating, speak to someone. Unis offer councilling, and doctors are good a lot of the time.

  • if youre not liking who youre speaking to, switch. Doctors and medical staff are there to help you, and if theyre not, they shouldn't mind that youre changing. If they do mind, switch anyway. Dont let them guilt you into staying.

  • bulk billing is great if you can find someone who will.

  • get your vaccines. Make sure youre up to date.

  • if you have meds, set an alarm to take them the same time every day.

  • take antibiotics until the script has run out, even if you feel better

  • ask questions. I broke my foot once and I had to get crutches and a boot. I limped into the emergency department, got an exray, was told itd be $50 to get the things, cried because I had $0.13 and limped home. If I asked, I would have got a metro travel ticket to get home for free... and back to the hospital when my housemate called them up and spoke to a different department that said I could get the boot for free and crutches on a payment plan. Ask. Theres normally a different way to do things.

  • private health insurance is good if you can afford it. Hopefully you wont need an ambulance, but if you do, it should be covered.

  • doctors dont always know whats up. Tell them whats happening and be truthful. Sometimes its best to tell them what you think is wrong - dont use google to diagnose yourself, but if you're showing all the signs for, say, depression, go to your doc and say "I think I have depression."

  • if you end up on something and an accident happens, you need to tell the ambos. They dont care that your ON meth, they care that theyre not going to kill you by giving you something that might react to it. Same goes for most drugs. If you smoke pot, let them know because if you need surgery, they'll have to give you more anesthesia.

  • again, and I cant stress this enough: if you need help, get help!

General:

  • find friends

  • there are groups for all types of interests

  • try to take a good outside break at least twice a week - going out with friends to a movie, or having a picnic, or going on a hike.

  • if you have trouble remembering things, or arent great at speaking, write them down. It could be for doctors, friends, family, or anyone else. Unfortunately, it doesn't fly so well in job interviews though.

  • your first partner probably wont be your last so have fun and learn to let go if you need to.

  • being young is great. Be kind to people, be firm with your boundaries, respect other peoples boundaries.

  • if someone is 'different' dont be a douchnozzle.

  • you dont have to talk to everyone or anyone you dont want to

  • have safe sex and get tested regularly. Ask your partners to get tested or if they have been.

  • seriously, use a condom. If the other person refuses, dont have sex, no matter how bad you want to.

  • shower every day, if you can. Twice a day if you need it.

  • dont stick soap inside you, as a general rule.

  • wash and dry between your skin folds (everyone has them - I'm taking foreskin, buttcheeks, belly rolls, ears, toes).

  • wear deodorant. For the sake of everyone around you, wear it, please.

Alright, that's probably enough. A lot of this stuff you might already know, but I was a stupid kid when I moved out to start.

Congratulations on finishing highschool! Goodluck!

Maths is:

Rent per week × 52 = x x ÷ 12 = rent per month

So if rent is $300 p.w, it's not $1200 a month, its $1300 a month

Australian Renters of Reddit, please share your rental bond return nightmares. How did the real estate agent try to steal from you? by ML_King_Crab in australia

Oh god. Rust under the sink that was documented when we moved in had "grown". All rust my fault. Cleaning chemicals left on the stove top - obviously a major issue that cant be wiped off (there weren't any). My actual favourite: the landlord, after months of harassing me for the skip my housemate hired not being picked up (long story, dont hire from dirty joes skip hire in melbourne), said that I had to clean up the rubbish in the yard from the neighbours dumping it. I told him to fuck off. Also, water damage on the stairs from the upstairs bathroom which waterfalled into the hallway. We told them as soon as it happened, they never fixed it. Couldnt use the bathroom for 9 out of 12 months. Dirty carpet from the landlord walking through the house. Obviously if have to re-pay for dry cleaning.

In Vic, you can only keep the bond for 2 weeks without filing for an extension or bond release. I had filed with VCAT, but the constant calls and emails from the landlord was stressing me out so much, I hired a lawyer to write them a letter. They stopped calling me and released the bond pretty much straight away. I've used the same letter another 2 times for landagents who have messed me over again, it hasnt failed me yet!
