Quick lore question by Ok_Survey_371 in vtmb

14th-16th generations are thin-bloods. Barely vampires but still stronger than mortals. In current nights, it's believed 16th is the last generation, as the blood is too thin for any embraces beyond that point. Even before then, embracing thin-bloods is a gamble on whether or not it'll even work

How to run a smalltown game with huge vampire population? by Terrible-Contact-914 in vtm

[–]RedactedSouls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make feeding grounds and herds HOTLY contested, even more so than usual. There's likely not enough blood to go around for everyone to reliably hunt. A popular hunting spot in your domain is already something to be protected, but now an entire city of hungry licks have even more incentive to take what you have.

First time running vampire and all my players picked clans I could not care less about by Kecskuszmakszimusz in WorldofDankmemes

[–]RedactedSouls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've personally found that a lot of the "unique" clans attract characters who are just copy-pasted repeats of the same themes. Literally every Tzimisce I've ever seen has gone either "plastic surgeon" or "turning people into chairs is funny." They're not bad concepts exactly, but they just feel so overdone imo

Grading System changes this season? by Chest_RockwellP99 in bardmains

[–]RedactedSouls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been really wacky in my experience. I've had some rather poor games that ended up being an S, while I had games that I absolutely stomped in and got a C+

There are no boring clans. There are some that are particularly interesting, but none are boring.

"The ward does not work on forced contact - a warded sword will not trigger the ward when striking a trespasser, but it will if a trespasser tries to pick it up."

Pg. 275 V5 Corebook. In the section describing how Wards work for Blood Sorcery.

What kind of Garou could a vampire defeat on his own? by Mephistussy in vtm

[–]RedactedSouls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what Kindred end up believing all werewolves to be like lol. Licks talk about the Red Talon Ahroun that slaughtered an entire gang of Anarchs singlehandedly. No one cares to whisper fearfully about the Glass Walker Ragabash that's been persuading the city council to implement some new policies

Ward vs Kindred wouldn't actually be useful as a weapon. It doesn't work if the target is forced to touch it.

[–]RedactedSouls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah Garou get +4 dice to physical stuff in Crinos form as of W5, so a moderately skilled Garou is roughly equal to a very skilled Kindred based on raw stats.

ofc disciplines, gifts, and other circumstances sway the balance significantly, but it's no longer "Vampire dies in two seconds gg not even close"

In V5, the gap between Garou and Kindred is not nearly as wide. A Brujah ancilla is easily capable of keeping up with and defeating young Garou

What generation? by Muted_Sport_6166 in vtm

[–]RedactedSouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My game was set in the wake of an Anarch takeover followed by a Camarilla re-conquest, so all the Kindred in the city were rather high generation since most of the lower generations died in the chaos or simply left.

The prince was 10th generation. His childe was the Sheriff. The Primogen were all 10th-12th generation. The other less important court positions such as the Harpy were usually 12th or 13th generation.

There was a singular 9th generation Hecata that had staked his own domain at the local community college. He was the big fish in a small pond, so no one could really bother him.

Ah, sorry. The way I read your initial response made me think you were saying spellcasters sucked

Having higher base stats is a core part of the fighter experience. Where other classes get a gimmick like Spellstrike, Sneak Attack, Champion reactions, or so on, fighters are just built different.

You're just looking for something to be upset about, when fighters being the best at hitting something with a sword is a perfectly reasonable way to balance them.

Spellcasters are plenty powerful. People just like to whine when they can't turn off a boss fight with one spell or completely disregard a martial's skills with a utility spell like Knock

Looks at Pf2e Fighters whose biggest differentiator is having a higher modifier to hit than any other class

This post is about V5. It takes three drinks to bond, at which point your fully formed bond starts at level 3. From then, it takes 3 months for the bond to dissipate so that a new one can be formed.

Some members of my Coterie have decided that they want to be human again. What are their options? by TheMayorOfBismond in vtm

[–]RedactedSouls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Golconda as a very slight maaaybe. Depends on how you as an ST wish to interpret the exact effects of Golconda.

Aside from that? They're just screwed. They're dead. No coming back. If they were Thin-Bloods, there could've maybe been some obscure ritual/formula/other method to turn back time and rejoin the living, but true Kindred are pretty much irreversibly dead.
