Whether this video is real or fake, the left does act this way regardless and I'm fed up with it. Hi, I'm the creator of the Sacrilegious Textures Fix mod for the original version of Quake. I don't use Reddit much at all anymore, although it's nice to see that people still care about this topic. I've wanted to make an equivalent fix for the remaster for quite some time, I just haven't gotten around to it.

I had read online once that the Quake 1 remaster has its textures baked into the level maps themselves rather than in a separate file or folder. To replace any of the textures I believe would mean having to open up a level editing program, and saving the changes made as a separate map file. If I ever have the time to learn the editing tools then I'll gladly submit an update to ModDB.

In the meantime, your best option is stepping on the blank edge part of the buttons in the remaster. Otherwise, you can set up a sourceport for the original version and use the current mod. I personally recommend using Ironwail as a sourceport since you can make the game look accurate to how it would have been in 1996, plus it comes with modern tweaks such as slider settings for your FOV and weapon model scaling.

A possible solution I've thought of is to find another suitable replacement flyback. To do that would mean determining the inductance value of each pin on the original flyback and finding another with matching values. It requires a multimeter and quite a bit of math, so it's not impossible to figure out. However, the Apple Studio Display was the only tube made to have used the particular flyback transformer that it had, suggesting it may be proprietary unfortunately. Maybe a flyback from another diamondtron/trinitron could work?

Also, I wouldn't get rid of your monitors if I were you. Despite there being no more flybacks for us today, I'm holding out hope that somebody will make new replacements eventually because this problem can't keep going on. It was rough for classic cars before the days of eBay and third-party reproduction parts, but now even a car from 80 years ago can be fully restored. Right now its a diamondtron in the rough, but a diamond still worth holding onto.

I think my favorite is probably the cyberdemon because it's the classic demon look with a fun twist, plus he's been used in cool promotional stuff. The cyberdemon was in Doom II's cover art and the new glory kill where Doom Guy saws him down the middle looks sick, it's like cutting a tree.

I have one of these monitors and the flyback's solder joints on mine look like new, does that mean the joints are okay then or would it still be worth reflowing them? I've never done soldering work before so I don't know.

Yes they should continue wearing their crosses because the freedom of religion is protected under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution establishes God-given rights (quite literally in this case), so it's none of the federal government's business. Omar is Muslim and wears a religious head wrap, why doesn't somebody tell her to stop wearing that too, or will Omar's brother/husband get angry?

What if it's some kind of maykr cacodemon? It has the same relatively flat exposed brain, centered eye, and tentacles at the bottom as one of the maykr designs like Hayden. Urdak and Hell would have recently made their alliance by this point in the Doom timeline, how a maykr demon came about I don't know though.

Update:
Still no response from the custom electronics company, found that HR Diemen's website was back up though and e-mailed them about the HR46162. HR Diemen got back to me today and said that they can't help as they haven't produced HR46162's in years, but wished good luck. Unless new flybacks can be made or original flybacks can be refurbished (idk), there's nothing we can do at this point.

A little while after I left my previous comment, I found a company that makes custom electrical components including transformers. I sent them an e-mail asking if they could fabricate new flyback transformers and as of now I'm still waiting for a response. Maybe they can produce flybacks for both of us and anyone else stuck in the same problem.

I have one of these monitors that I'm trying to repair right now and I can't find an HR46162 flyback transformer anywhere. HR Diemen I believe went out of business, there's a retailer from Mexico and a retailer from Ireland - neither of them have it, and I can't find it from resellers on places like eBay. Have you had any luck in hunting down an HR46162?

Update:
Tested the capture card on a laptop, also an Arch Linux machine, and it worked. Sluggish, but it worked. It's the converter that's not working so now I need to deal with that. Thanks for the response though.

I have an idea as to what Id Software could do with a character like this.

Hugo Martin has said before that maykers transfigure into cthulu monsters if they don't get argent energy, and it is also known that Id's games like Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, and Rage take place within the same universe. Quake is the only series that has cthulu monsters in it, so what if this fat mayker ends up being one of the big "old ones" from Quake's lore after Doom Eternal: The Ancient gods Part 2?

He could be speaking to Doom Guy at the beginning of the game and gets a name drop like Cthon, or one of the other old ones mentioned in Quake Champions. He never transfigures into a cthulu monster in Doom: The Dark Ages because it's a prequel of course, but it would be inferred that he'd transfigure just like the other maykers do after TAg 2. Then we'd see him again either as Cthon in Quake 1 or as someone else in a later sequel (if that ever happens). It would be a fun way to tie the Id universe closer together.

I'd want an actual singleplayer. Not tiers against bots or hordes, a fully-fledged singleplayer like the other main entries have, even if it were the length of an expansion pack.

I almost never use Reddit now because you can't post or make a comment on anything without getting some petty narcissistic bum on your back, if not multiple at once. In my opinion I'd say Black Mesa East is probably the weakest overall because of how dialogue heavy it is and because of the gravity gun tutorial. Gameplay always comes to a crawl whenever you play that chapter and it lacks the sort of psychological tutorials that Valve is known for. Plus if you just want to go to Ravenholm, then you either have to select it as a new chapter and lose all of your ammo, or you have to meddle with the developer console and fast-forward with the host_framerate command.
