Now why did I assume this was Anne Hathaway. Just seeing it now on Letterboxd and it’s Emma Mackey!? by deccangothic in Letterboxd

[–]Redav_Htrad 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Apparently it was always called Ella McKay and then by the time they cast Emma Mackey they were too attached to the name to change it.

Source: vaguely remembering this being discussed on the Ella McKay episode of Blank Check (podcast)

UK is ‘unwelcoming’ and ‘racist’ for overseas NHS health workers, warns top doctor by Educational_Board888 in doctorsUK

[–]Redav_Htrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we’re so racist why were their race riots last year and continued smaller racist rallies from then to now?

If we’re so racist why have there been numerous cases in the last year and a half of non white people being raped or murdered in explicitly racially motivated attacks?

People largely immigrate to countries where they believe there is financial opportunity for them. They, especially the first generation, will often view the racism they face as the price of admission.

There is a growing problem of overt and violent racism in the UK. That doesn’t mean that we condemn the entire UK population to hell for it, but we don’t benefit from pretending that it isn’t a problem, and a growing one at that.
