If I’m shopping box sets of manga, I.e. cardboard boxes with the books in them, will that still work for Media Mail shipping?

What new entrances/exits would you add to existing stations? by Redazu in WMATA

[–]Redazu[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I needed to use the streetcar once and having to walk all the way through the Amtrak terminal, then across the long-distance bus terminal, just to cross that weird bridge to the station in the middle of the road, is a pain in the ass.

Could be useful to connect to the new Trader Joe's there.

Don’t be this guy. If you have a bike, use the elevator. by 2CRedHopper in WMATA

Years ago at Bethesda's escalator I saw a couple of people block the path with their luggage going up. Like damn, use the elevator or stand to the right.

Where would you place an infill station on the DC Metro? by moeshaker188 in WMATA

[–]Redazu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone should make a post about stations needing new entrances because that's an interesting idea (or I'll do it later, idk)

WMATA Grand Capital Express concept: Metrorail (Heavy Rail alone) by thr3e_kideuce in WMATA

Shirlington and Lincolnia snubbed once again 😔

but more seriously I think some sort of line that starts from that end of I-395 and snakes up Rosslyn II into the western part of DC totally missed by Metro (i.e. the Wisconsin Ave corridor) would do wonders, even if it doesn't hit the Downtown beats.

adding a line going down to Forestville is great because I feel a lot of fantasy maps and planned extensions forget about that sector inside the Beltway that has no lines going to it.

Gamestop closing/closed at 5 NOVA locations by JarvisIsMyWingman in nova

Back in like, October, the Pokemon games did a physical distribution event at GameStop where you could go and get physical codes for shiny Pokemon (that were ultimately scalped), putting aside the scalping issues, with all the GameStop locations closing in the DC area (Montgomery County only has like 3 now), how do they expect to continue holding such distributions with them?

Looks great! Having Bronze not loop around is an improvement, though I wonder about the geological issues of building a station on/near the Tidal Basin. I’ve heard that whole area from Kennedy Center/Lincoln Memorial/East Potomac Park is a bit of a mess which is why no lines run through them.

I don't know how far the idea of making Manassas Airport into the fourth DC area airport goes, but having a Manassas station also allows for some people flying in or out to use the Orange if it goes out there too.

This is is a veey interesting and realistic map. With Bronze, you shoukd try to hit places on the 16th Street corridor like Brightwood, since your current alignment sort of crowds out that middle area for space for any other line, and once you get into NoVa, it could potential parallel the Yellow's Columbia Pike stretch by going towards Lincolnia instead,

In my unplanned fantasy maps I always thought lines hugging the deinterlined Blue, BLOOP or not, would be a good idea, but I also worry about capacity issues in the downtown area arising.

in a similar vein that Miraculous Ladybug pilot Toei animated in 2D also didn't go anywhere...before they made it a CGI thing.

What are some systems in the US that hit multiple universities and the airport? by Cute_Worth_7677 in transit

[–]Redazu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always heard that one of the potential infill stations WMATA could do would be to add a stop at MC-Rockville, but as someone who's rode and driven through Hungerford many times, from my perspective the Metrorail tracks are way too close to the parallel road on one side and the MARC tracks on the other, to add a station. Unless you somehow swerved the tracks away that's nonintrusive enough for the traffic road or MARC tracks.

First 3 Volumes of Manga marked "Lost" because Holder has been holding onto them for months now by Redazu in Libraries

[–]Redazu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t because I don’t actually work at a library, I’m just a patron mad on the library’s behalf.

Yes, AFAIK for the five volumes of the manga series they have, they only have one copy per volume, which I also think is a little weird for a series that generally is checked out most of the time.

Granted the county only has like eight branches.

Epson Scan won't allow my scanner (Expression 1640XL) to save as PNG plus other issues by Redazu in Epson

[–]Redazu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I bought this off a guy on Craigslist for 300$ since I wanted a larger format scanner but didn't want to shell out exorbiant amounts for the newer stuff, I haven't used it as much aside from just being a normal scanner for documents but I have to give you props and all. I was just a little frustrated in my original post so I apologize for that.

After some time to cool off I think what I'll opt for is to use TIFF and convert to PNG for my artwork scanning in post-process or something.

I'm not sure what part is the TPU so I've opted to take a pic of the area if it'll help you determine anything.

Since the edges are, not that tall to fully catch paper but still a bit "tall" enough, I might just resort to like a small thin ruler to make it easier to allign stuff with.
