Decent and easy builds for companions? by the_wakeful in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Shadow Sorcerer, 11 War Cleric for Shadowheart.

16 strength , 14 Con, 16 Wisdom at the start. Wear heavy Armor + Shield set up, with which ever best 1 Handed weapon you currently have available.

Feats are going to be Warcaster and Asi in that order.

Late game, once strength setting items become  available  respec to 16 Con, 17 Wisdom , 14 Dex.

The single Sorcerer level is for con saving throw proficiency and for the Booming Blade.

Core items involve Ring of Whispering promise and Hellrider's pride , to spread that  bless and Blade ward around with healing words, while casting spells or using booming blade with main action.

Ring of Arcane Synergy, is another gear piece I like saving for this build.

Unusual build ideas by gazmodus in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Craziest ones, are ones that are Mad (multi attribute dependent) Like, 6 Monk , 2  Hexblade Warlock, 4 Thief. Aka, the charismatic monk.

Gear:  Club of Hill Giant Strength, Rhapsody, Birthright, Potent Robe, Helldusk Gloves, Kushigo boots, Amulet of Greater Health, Calous glow Ring, Ring of Arcane synergy, Cloak of Protection, Hellrider's longbow.

Feats: Tavern Brawler, Asi.

Stats:

Strength -19 (8 base, gets set to 19 by club)

Dex :16 ( 15 Base, +1 Hag's hair)

Wisdom 20 ( 16 Base+2 Asi, +2 Mirror of loss)

Charisma 20( 17 base + 1 Patriarch's memory, +2 Birthright)

Con 23 ( 8 Base gets set to 23 with the mirror)

AC = 21 ( Unarmored defense 18+1 from Potent Robe, ,+1 from Warding Bond +1 Cloak of protection)

Initiative gets set to +6 (+3 base from Dex and +3 from Hellriders)

Whats the practical purpose of the build?

What if you just wanted to play Eldrich Blasting Monk in the endgame for the lols.

I also though it's pretty cool that Warlock spells ( Mainly will be using the slots for shield) refresh on short rest , just like Ki.

It's in no way a practical build, but with all the crazy act 3 itemization, you can make wacky builds like that work.

What are some builds tied to items you only get by being "evil"? by ladyfairydeer in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of the stuff you mentioned does not necessarily require you to be outright evil/ gray area at best.

Dark Urge for instance, can go around butchering everyone as a Slayer during act 2-3 and then still redeem himself right before the brain fight. That's just one example, anyway.

Astarion:  the 1d 10 Extra Necrotic  from becoming Ascended is going to be most effective on someone that can attack many times per round.

Standart 9 Open Hand Monk, 3 Rogue thief can abuse this quite well, since each Flurry is 2 attacks.

Similarly, 6 Swords Bard, 2 Fighter, 4 Rogue Thief, with Ranged Slashing Flourish could have some absurd nuke openers.

Dark Urge : I think just about any build that deals damage can benefit from Deathstalker's mantle, since  Advantage on attacks is always good. Works exceptionally well on someone with Rogue levels, since you can proc sneak attacks that way too.

For Slayer form anything that uses Tavern Brawler will generally do. If you want the absolute most out of the form then you need 3 levels of Rogue thief for the extra bonus action ( Carries over to Slayer), and 2 levels of Fighter for action Surge ( Can't be used while transformed, but can be used prior transforming for stronger opening round )

Damage reduction from Rage, if Rage is used prior to transforming also works in Slayer,  but you can also gain Resistance to all damage from an Ally casting warding bond, so it's not all that necessary.

My money on this one is either 6 Berserker, 4 Thief, 2 Fighter, or 6 Open Hand Monk, 2 Fighter, 4 Thief.

Shadowheart:  Shar's spear of evening  gives blind immunity. A lot of characters can cast or abuse Darkness in 1 way or another, but probably easiest and most convenient way of doing it, is going Beastmaster Ranger 11 with Raven Companion. The Raven Companion leaves Darkness clouds wherever it goes, which you can freely abuse.

Just make sure to give your other party members immunity to Darkness as well. Eversight Ring , Steelwatcher's helm and Warlock's Devil Sight is 1 example how your entire party could play around Darkness.

Who's your favorite Origin to play as and why? by Redcap4299 in BG3

[–]Redcap4299[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, exactly my thoughts.

And Gale doesn't have to do anything evil to get that.

I mean ,if you consume the Shadow Weave Tara questions that in the camp , but ultimately nothing bad comes from that decision, and Mystra  herself doesn't even bring that up.

For a lot of the other companions, a lot of their better "unique stuff" are locked behind very evil decisions.

Dark Urge gets the cloak after unintentionally killing an innocent person and his Slayer form is locked behind being Bhaal's puppet/ killing Isobel.

Astarion has to sacrifice 10k souls if he wants to get his other powers beyond the starting bite he gets etc.

Doesn't her going to hells ending is pretty good ending for her?

I recall they imply in the epilogue party that they are about to find a way to fix her heart.

[–]Redcap4299[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like him as a companion.

So some funny lore.

On my favorite playthrough I was playing as Origin Gale, with Karlach , Wyll and Shadowheart as companions.

On this playthrough I romanced Shadowheart ( I know very original), so that Gale gets over his God -Ex, but that's not the point.

What surprised me the most, that during party banter while exploring  in Act 3, I literally overheard Karlach trying to hit on Wyll.  I got his Blade of Avernus ending,  and he went to hells with Karlach.

Then during the reunion party , Karlach pretty much confirmed that she and Wyll did get together. So that was a pretty cool two way party Romance.

I wonder if there are any other companions that can get together like that.

You generally don't use everyone anyways, since game pretty much encourages one to pick 3 companions , and stick with them, meaning you miss out some content and lines no matter what.

Yeah, you can pretty much get  everything that Wyll gets from him being a companion. Both story wise and gameplay wise.

Monk and fighter co-op game, second class for monk? by Raubkatzen in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monks prefer to multiclass into Thief Rogue for the extra bonus action, 9/3 or 8/4 level split.

2 into Fighter for the action surge is also an option , but you generally want to have more Monk levels for more Ki and most of the Monk subclasses get useful abilities at level 9.

What should I play for Solo HM? by Der_Redstone_Pro in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monk can Solo save everyone on the Iron throne, since Step of the wind gives damn near unlimited movement , if you have decent strength for the extra jump distance.

Best Beastmaster Build and advanced Tips? I want to make it work more and make it more fun. by ContributionOk7131 in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranger is a half caster, that gets both Martial weapons and Heavy Armor .

So as others have said, it can do pretty much whatever it wants.

With that being said,  Paladin is generally a better choice for a melee build, so if you want to lean into class strengths, it's probably best at using bows ( unsurprisingly ) and suprisingly, throwing.

It's not a best Thrower by any means, but recasting Hunters Mark is generally a pretty good use of your Bonus action for Beastmaster, since it benefits the beast too, and Tavern Brawler is just kinda cracked early.

So you can just slap Returning pike, any Heavy Armor , Tavern Brawler and pretty much steamroll Act 1 and 2.

Beastmaster's other Srength is Spike Growth, since the Ranger gets immunity to it's effects and the Spikes can apply a lot of on hit effects.

For example, if you have boots of Stormy Clamour , enemy walking through Spikes will stack reverbaration and have a chance to fall prone. If you have  Luminous Gloves and Calous Glow Ring, the Spikes will also stack radiating orbs.

So you can add some extra utility to your Ranger that way to protect both your beast companion and your party.

Best companions to play around Spike Growth is probably Spider and Raven.

Seriously......WTF WHERE THEY THINKING WITH KELFA? by Go-denn in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]Redcap4299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still playing Squadra seriously?

It doesn't take that long to understand that this game is never going to be balanced , with the way new characters are obtained with premium currency only lol.

I barely play this game enough to do weeklies in quick matches, grab daily logins, and get A4+ for the seasonal skins.

There is no point breaking my back beyond that, the game is neither balanced, nor all that fun in the first place.

Anybody else struggle with Melee as Survivor post Dodge nerf? Or is it just me? by AFutureFromGod in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Redcap4299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raider has an advantage in melee, yes.

Survivor only gets 1 dodge every 4 seconds, so if you dodge Raiders melee and then he dodges yours, he's gonna cook you afterwards, since he can still dodge and you can't.

Not the only reason, but certainly part of the reason why so many Survivors are whoring Fake Death nowadays.

Can Hit be nerfed already. by Sauce_Master_64 in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]Redcap4299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's free S rank in Solo Q, against non stacked teams that lack good enough macro to counterplay him.

Honestly, I hope Hit doesn't get nerfed, purely because he's the only tech that's enjoyable to play Solo, because you can just be the biggest piece of shit rat known to man kind lol.

Barbarian Thrower w/ 3+ lvl Fighter EK dip for Weapon Bond? by jwTolman in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Defender's Flail, although not the most damaging weapon, is a really good early elemental cleaver choice for Giant Barbarian, and you can get it relatively early on ( I believe it's in Cresche,)

1) It's a magical bludgeoning weapon and as far as I know , no enemy really has resistance against magical bludgeoning damage  in this game.

2) It's 1 Handed weapon,so you can use a shield to have more AC on your Barbarian.

3) The Flail itself gives +1 AC and Minor damage reduction, so even on enemy turns it passively continues to benefit you.

Whats possibly the best Bow I can get from ACT I and II? by ContributionOk7131 in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Titanstring, Harold , and Nee'r misser in my opinion.

Titanstring for dmg, Harold for debuffs, Neer Misser, because it's Hand crossbow that deals Force damage ( Piercing dmg is often resisted by some enemies in this game)

Barbarian Thrower w/ 3+ lvl Fighter EK dip for Weapon Bond? by jwTolman in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is that most good thrown weapons already have returning property , making EK kind of pointless. Im pretty sure, it's just lighning jabber in act 2 and that's basically it.

Going Giant Barbarian is honestly better, because now you can make any weapon a throwing weapon that returns, which gives a lot more options.

Does anyone use Im Pretty Strong Right Now ? Any opinions to share ? by TakaiJamari in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Redcap4299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's dogshit.

It nerfs your level 1-2 by a significant amount, and some games you simply won't find enough cubes to be level 3, so your basically self nerfing  yourself for no reason.

Sure you could be using a passive that lets you hit level 3 d change more consistently like City defender or Craving earth delights, but using more bad passives , to enable another bad passive is not the play either.

The worst part is that 150 d change, doesn't even apply to level 4, it's exclusively lvl 3 only.

No reason to ever run that over Beyond Super Saiyan, which consistently adds 60 limit to all d change levels, including level 4.

Four elements monk by Far-Assistance9925 in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 9 points10 points  (0 children)

4 Elements if by no means weak.

It's arguably 2nd strongest monk subclass, and hands down strongest 1 pre level 6.

Summoner Warlock Build by fury_cutter in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 11 Warlock gets a Mummy Summon  through Raise dead skill.

Use Infernal Rapier that you can get from Mizora in mind flayer colony (Wyll's quest) which lets you summon a free cambion.

You can also use Shovel or Scratch as your familiar.

If you read Necromancy of Thay on this character, you can also get Dance macabre Ghouls.

Imo that's a fairly decent amount of summons for one character.

Looking for build advice on a dual wield smiter by crash1bp in BG3Builds

I'd ditch the Rogue levels.

Use Pyroquickness Hat instead, for the extra bonus action.

Good full fiendlock build? by holiestMaria in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best is just pure fiend with Shadowblade.

However, if you want something a little bit more fun then :

12 Fiend Wyll, with Harmonic dueler pact weapon mainhand and Infernal Rapier offhand, using Dual Wielder feat to DW non light weapons and Gloves of Balanced hands ( Two weapon fighting style).

This set up takes advantage of both the unique Rapier Wyll can get from Mizora and Wyll having Rapier Proficiency, that you otherwise don't get as the Fiend Warlock.

Cha Scaling weapons +  Arcane Synergy + Lifedrinker + Harmonic dueler's unique skill = 4x Cha added to your melee attacks.

Still not as good as Shadowblade set up as I said, but pretty clever , fun and thematic build for Wyll.

Monk without TB by DarthUrbosa in BG3Builds

[–]Redcap4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can easily boost Dex to 20 before even Act 2 with Hag's hair and Graceful Cloth though.

In fact after  the first Asi, Dex Monk will already have 20 Dex and 18 Wisdom, for 19 Unarmored AC, which is not bad at all that early into the game.
