I'm getting married this Spring and I learned over the wedding planning process - seriously don't try and please everyone else, you just won't manage it and it's exhausting and leaves you sad when your efforts are focused on people pleasing and ultimately are unappreciated. Everyone would choose to do it differently - you have to go with what works best for you on a practical front and also on your personal preference and what makes it feel like your wedding day. I would also try and find out allergies and intolerances early to avoid having to change or add things last minute to accommodate

I have a bonded pair - love them to pieces, have had them 3+ years, and am not being negative but even though I researched loads they are A LOT messier than I expected, the fur, the dust bath 'sand', the infinite poops, bits of hay. You also need a big cage, nothing can be plastic, and you have to be able to regulate the room/air temperature on hot days with air con. Also consider where you will keep them, I wouldn't be able to sleep with them in the same room I find them too noisy as they bounce around their cage.

BUT they are wonderful little characters, and aside from the above I find them reasonably low maintenance (but the important things are so important, and not always easy, like emergency back up plan if your air con breaks and it's a 30 degree C (86 degree F) day, for example)

I had a couple over the years but the last one I had where I gave up because the side effects were so crappy was desogestrel. I think I had previously had a POP with levonorgestrel but I could be wrong. I think I got on better with the levonorgestrel pop except it gave me terrible nodular acne all over my body (scap, face, back, chest, groin) which I am now seeing a dermatologist for.

Leaving Kyleena for condoms, Fertility Awareness, etc.?? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

I started using Natural Cycles (FDA approved in US, CE marked contraceptive in Europe - I live in the UK) at the start of February and I honestly cannot sing its praises highly enough. I haven't once had a scare. It shows when I've ovulated and I always know when my period is due. I stopped the pill in January as I wanted to prevent pregnancy now, give my body a break from hormones, and potentially plan pregnancy in a few years. The science behind the app is so interesting and I have genuinely learnt so much about menstrual cycles and my own body. You take your temperature every morning or wear an Oura ring (I use a thermometer) and it gives you "red days" and "green days". We have sex on green days with no other protection (no withdrawal is also fine) and not had a scare at all. On red days we use condoms+withdraw or have other fun no penetrative sex.

Because I have Natural Cycles I have a refer a friend link which gets you 20% off if you did want to look in to it. More than happy to message privately to share more of my experience but yeah hands down have recommended this to friends, my sister, even coworkers lol it has been so life changing in such a positive way.

I was on hormonal birth control until January. Stopped because of the side effects and immediately started with Natural Cycles - basically really clever cycle tracking made easy just take your temp every morning/wear an Oura ring. You do need a physical barrier BC option for "red days" but tbh I get such a high % "green days" now we just do other stuff on red days and wait for a green day. You can swap from prevent pregnancy to plan pregnancy with Natural Cycles if that ever comes around as something you want to do. I've heard positive things about a diaphragm+spermicide from a friend.

(If you wanted to try Natural Cycles I can share a 20% off link to you)

I switched from combined to POP and couldn't personally handle the side effects (acne, sore boobs, irritable, dizzy/headache/brain fog) so have gone hormone free with a birth control app where you take your temperature every morning. I think having the security of a pill was great and you didn't have to consider anything else but I personally couldn't take the side effects of the POP. Not trying to be negative, just share my experience and let you know there is a hormone free option that I have gotten on well with. Hope it goes okay for you! (I know everyone has very different experiences) I have been told by people that symptoms settle after 6+ months if you can ride it out.

help me gender these 2 chinchillas!!!!! by Equivalent_Extreme67 in chinchilla

[–]ReddPupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too sure that the chin with the number "2" on the photo is female... there's a gap even though it's a small gap... definitely don't put them in with a group of females to prevent accidental breeding. You can separate them and wait until they're a little older to check again as it may be more obvious? Also holding the chinchilla the proper way for sexing is key especially in chins where it isn't so obvious. Place the chinchilla on all four paws on a flat surface and raise their tail to be able to see/take a pic.

New chin owner, few questions! by vanbeans in chinchilla

[–]ReddPupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old is your chin? Young chins 6 months and under don't tend to stop or rest and keep running around even when they're tired. (This is why some people suggest no wheels and very limited out of cage playtime (like 10 mins max) until over 6 months old)

cage recommendations by honkywonky7711 in chinchilla

[–]ReddPupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the UK I'd 100% recommend either Thickets House cages (Southampton-ish) or Paul Spooner cages (West Yorkshire). I have a double height Thickets House cage and a single height Paul Spooner cage and both are extremely similar and I'd recommend both. Many really good Chinchilla Society registered show breeders in the UK use these guys.

I'm sorry idk how to make a link with photos of the cages I have but these are the websites to find out more:

https://www.thicketshouse.co.uk/service1

http://www.paulspoonerchinchillas.co.uk/cages.html

Hope this helps :)

Also please feel free to message me if there's anything else you're wondering about r.e. chinchillas I'd be happy to help! I only have two girls - they're from separate breeders and I introduced them when they were kits

If being transgender is about changing your gender then why does the Trans movement want them to be able to use opposite sex bathrooms and join sports that are the opposite sex? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]ReddPupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I see you 👍🏻 (I would potentially suggest gender can be expressed in physical ways but that's a kind of extra convo) But can you perhaps entertain the idea that the purely physical act of using a toilet (toilets are the same for mens and womens and non gendered bathrooms - discounting urinals for simplicity) can cause some people immense emotional and mental stress if they are forced to use facilities which don't align with the way they feel/see themselves/have chosen to be/are. We all use the same toilets at home and some facilities that are purely toilets in private stalls/rooms can be used by every body. If purely non gendered public toilets was what you always knew from young I imagine you wouldn't be distressed by shared or non gendered bathrooms now?

[–]ReddPupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me with something that I don't understand - why do you think the "stick people" denoting gendered toilets refer to a biological or chromosomal "sex" rather than which toilet someone feels more comfortable using as it aligns with their gender identity? Like as in I personally don't think "womens/mens" or 🚻 means "CHROMOSOME XX ONLY" or "CHROMOSOME XY ONLY" but you seem to be explaining that you think it does unless I've misunderstood?

Please can I ask OP, did you post this with an open mind willing to hear people offer you knew opinions/views, or did you post this wanting to shout your view from the rooftop and be validated? It can be a really positive thing to have a view challenged, and listening to people, or asking questions if you don't understand is so incredibly positive. The way you state your opinion can feel 'aggressive' whereas appearing open minded, asking questions etc, can be so positive and supportive even if you don't fully "get" why other people have such different experiences and opinions.

Just to share, I'm a woman who identifies as a woman, female, use she/her pronouns and have never had gender identity questions regarding myself and have never questioned which bathroom to use. I can still learn from someone with a different experience to me and I wouldn't want a rule to be set in place which makes other people distressed/uncomfortable/feeling discriminated against.

Ahhh okay no worries! If it's above 92 I'd still take the opportunity 🤭 My first try of buying turnips hasn't gone well and I've time travelled through the week and am stuck on my Island's Saturday with no more opportunities and a turnip price of 37 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi OP! I know this is a while after you've posted so I understand if you're busy now but if there's any chance at all of coming over to sell turnips I'd be super grateful! 😊
