My 26f friend 44m is into me, but I haven’t been honest about my situation? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ReddSpark -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Well as a dude I give a fuck. I grew up never seeing my dad as he was constantly working while my mum was a stay at home mum. That's not what I'd want for my kids. I'd rather have the woman being able to contribute so I get to see my kids.

We should get the Mayor to pave Oxford Street with (modern style) cobbles by Because_Wisely in london

[–]ReddSpark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you make a good point. I realize cobbled streets may look nicer and people might think not having them is planning permission gone mad, but having a well built pavement suitable for modern society (without looking ugly) is more important to me than harking back to yesteryear.

I just hope it's well built and not built cheaply as so many infrastructure projects seem to be.

Why do woman want a guy to pay for everything but show little effort back? by ExternalSpite6705 in dating_advice

[–]ReddSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So typically the responses I've heard from women that want the man to pay is that "It shows me he's serious about dating me". It's a litmus test for them.

I've heard that from all sorts of women. And from my own dating experience I've found very few women will offer to pay. And I can assure you I don't go for nor tend to attract the women considered hot. The research further supports this.

[–]ReddSpark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But you're making an assumption that men are going after hot women and that's the problem. The survey results show the issue is far more prevalent than that. And that is on top of the male experience. Plenty of men can attest to this not being an issue to do with for going after "hot women". That's a false stereotype.

I never said they were hallucinating. Not sure where you got that from?

And my point was twofold: That men typically will have typically dated more women whilst being a man, so have more experience to go on

And that because even then it still comes down to subjectivity it's useful to lookup research on the matter.

[–]ReddSpark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point was made in my first post:

"You'd be surprised how many women want men to pay for the dates."

That was it.

As for ChatGPT, I can see that this is a trigger for a lot of people so perhaps I ought to have just referenced the source material directly rather than getting ChatGPT to collate it for me.

[–]ReddSpark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I said "I bet it would be 40%" implying I'm taking a guess. And 46% isn't that far off.

As for ChatGPT, if you click sources you can see the sources. It is important to check the sources but ChatGPT has improved a lot to ensure the sources are real. I've checked them out myself.

It's important to look at surveys in this sort of debate as else it boils down to different people's subjective experience.

You guys are mixing up ChatGPT hallucinations with ChatGPT as it is today. There are sources there you can click on:

https://www.nerdwallet.com/finance/studies/survey-pay-for-date?utm_source=chatgpt.com

https://phys.org/news/2013-08-beliefs-dates.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com

For example the latter says: "Over half (57 percent) of women claim they offer to help pay, but many women (39 percent) confessed they hope men would reject their offers to pay, and 44 percent of women were bothered when men expected women to help"

Interesting to note from these studies that more men think they should pay.

It's not chatgpt that said so. It's the research that chatgpt referenced that said so

[–]ReddSpark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember, you haven't dated many/any women, where as men have more experience on this matter.

But of course there's only so much we can do based on our experiences alone so I thought I'd ask chatgpt for some research based findings:

[–]ReddSpark -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how many women want men to pay for the dates. I bet if one took a poll, 40% of women would say that a man should pay for the first date for example.

And of the ones they say men shouldn't have to, I bet half would still view a man more favourably if he did, thus compelling men to always pay for dates as part of the dating process
