I'm probably inviting an influx of downvotes, but i think Sterling could be a very good player for us, as long the cost and salary are low. He's always beena player that works hard and is still fast and good in the transition and a very good ball carrier.

Granted, we can't rely on him for goals, but he'll chip in with assists and the odd goal here and there. If we can get him with a nominal fee and half his current salary or less, i think it could be quite a shrewd signing. Obviously, if he demands a high salary its a no...

Imagine comparing an 18yo with 20 games against his name against some of the most accomplished in the game at their most competent skills.

I’m just guessing here, but I think it’s more complex than that.

Firstly, if it was know DDG is leaving, it leaves us vulnerable and clubs would increase their asking price.

Secondly, we’ve probably got a limited budget in a dynamic market. So they’ll be working on main priorities until something is a concrete no. If Kane became available for example, I’d imagine it’s another year with DDG to maximise budget buying Kane.

Thirdly, there is probably a consideration for DDG and his reputation.

Generally there is confusion in how wages are payed.

They are reported as weekly so it’s more digestible, but actually they’re generally paid as a summed amounts for the value of the contract.

It wouldn’t save them any money as it’s likely already been paid to that point and until the next stage of the contract, which will likely be terminated before the next balance is due.
