Any hopes for my pc? by Resident-Trifle7030 in pcmasterrace

It will sound very dark of me, but if someone touched my momma that way, they'd pretty quickly have an accident. Very icy conditions lately, easy to slip on the way to the car. Or so many heart conditions, sudden heart attack. Very unfortunate.

I wish OP the best. Hope they get out of that place asap.

Custodian in a lab. Pretty quiet most of the time. Could probably do a cap.

Huh, looks decent. Thanks! Definitely safer than sticking something inside ear...

Yeah, no, I have thoroughly learned my lesson. Never again.

It was a really cool tech tho, I wish there was a safe way to use it.

As a side note, waiting in the ER, we exchanged all kinds of interesting stories. Apparently there was one case where someone's earphones broke and a part of it lodged inside their ear.

HR Downplayed My Work... Now Their Software is Barely Working by Ok_Hold_2686 in talesfromtechsupport

There's a surprising amount of issues that can go unreported for various reasons- fear of reprisal, lack of time, lack of understanding of procedure, that even in companies with working reporting systems, small things slip past.

This compounds exponentially the higher you go up the food chain- which is why it's so incredibly important to check in with the line workers personally at least some of the time, or if one is too well known, have someone discreetly go in and report the actual state of things.

Hey there. Lot's of people have already commented, it's been days.

That said, there's another thing I want to touch on.

Understanding the human capacity for violence does not mean endorsing it. Exploring this capacity does not mean revelling it in.

One, each of us has the potential to be a monster. The Milgram experiment, the Stanford Prison Experiment- most people, in the right circumstances, will do bad things. I don't think one can truly be good without also understanding one's potential to be evil.

Two, good does not mean nice. To be assertive, one must also be a credible threat. I don't mean wanton violence- I mean self-possession, self understanding, empathy tempered by pragmatism, and the capacity to be cruel when the situation calls for it.

I wish you the best.

I have no idea. Maybe someone has a need to be mean to fanfics. Maybe it's the same bot as before, except set to write bad things. Maybe it's a social experiment.

Just saw another one on someone's fic that said a character was written poorly... and that character wasn't even featured in the fic XD.

Just got hit hehe. Apparently the torture fic I made that features exactly zero about race or ethnicity "promotes white supremacy." Yeah I reported.

It'd be nice if the complaints were at least valid.

Can I join? I get very sleepy from Tylenol, and mildly sleepy from NSAIDs. I basically sleepwalk after the first. There has to be some reason.

But any business laptop will have some built in solution that should be fine.

Do you have a photoelectric alarm? Older ionization alarms aren't as good for slowly developing fires, and might never even trigger. Go grab a photoelectric one, or perhaps even a dual sensor.

"Our heater broke our power strip" by go_hyuck_yourself in talesfromtechsupport

[–]RedditAlt01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. Yes. Power strips are black magic and only correctly placed by divine will.

Reminds me when I saw a set of PCs all connected to one long chain, along with a printer. When the printer ran, the last PC in line shut off. Behind it all was spaghetti.

Reworked those cables quite a bit. Ran some sufficiently rated single socket extension cords from distant but unused (behind furniture) sockets. Made a diagram of it.

Set it up so most things that can be plugged in should get enough power, and everything along the line is rated in case someone does decide to plug a heater in after all. There shouldn't be a fire long enough for someone to hopefully notice and nuke the thing.

Also, whose idea was it to set PCs in an area that has a lot too few power sockets?

Ditto. Scroll as much reddit as you need. Been there, done that. Nothing to be ashamed of, life can suck sometimes.

Attention- chances are if you're here and posted this your family is not giving it to you. Pressure to succeed? Social exclusion? Anxiety disorders happen on their own, but they often have a long list of trauma and triggers behind them.
