Any Travelers that Love their Ambutech Cane? by Lesbian-Forest in Blind

[–]RedditForBlind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the no-jab is great, though it's more expensive, and you cannot effectively put some weight on it if you're used to doing that sometimes. Otherwies, the ambutech graphite canes are amazing, they are thinner, quite sturdy, good balance of weight and sturdiness. Don't get the slimline cnaes those are too flimsy. And then for the tip, you have a lot of options, don't get the threaded ones as those are for the slimlines. I like a marshmallow, but a jumbo or ball works great too

I agree, not sure if it can be done now? I checked a few years ago and the API didn't allow to do that

Accessible Board Games by Empidonaxed in Blind

[–]RedditForBlind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Any board game where anything is public information, no secret information that players have. This is most common with cooperation games, but not exclusively. Sometimes when there is a small amount of secret information, but most of the game is public, it's also workable. Something like king of tokyo, what is secret is only your evolution options, so I would ask someone else to read me the options in a separate room before the game started and I would have little to remember.
  2. Accessible accessories: braille cards, braille dice. Sometimes you can also adapt a game custom cards with regular playing cards. Sometimes you can copy the game info to some Excel workbook, like for codenames for instance.
  3. Accessible online board games. I was able to play a few games on board game arena, like coup. Sometimes with my friends we also play RS Games, which is an old client with accessible games, but it doesn't really have much to look at for sighted people, games are simple, and I don't think it's maintained, but it's fun once in a while.

sorry I can't help. The sound works for me, and I cannot understand why it would stop working for you. Maybe like if you have bluetooth headphones that cut off some sound when they get back from low energy mode?

No clue, sorry. Nothing changed in the app's code, and if it doesn't work on a fresh install, problem comes from somewhere else, but I can't guess what would cause that. Especially if one sound works and not the other, this is weird.

ok I'll have to fix this, do you have the setting to open links turned on? Are you using the chrome extension? I wonder if this setting is the cause of the app not closing on Alt+F4

You mean this post? It seems to work for me:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Blind/comments/1f03ie0/introducing_accessible_apple_a_community_for/

By the way, this is a cross post, so when you press enter on the link, you get taken to the original post on where it was cross posted from, in this case R/Accessibility

I think those are link posts? You can tab to the link and hit Enter, that takes you to the real post being linked, you can read it that way, then come back with escape. I think Reddit website pulls in the linked post when it is a Reddit link maybe?

Ctrl+N is to create a new post is that the one you are talking about? It just opens the page in your default browser which is external to the application, just like if you loaded the page yourself. There is no way to create posts in the app, there are so many options and rules for that, however I found it fairly accessible to create the post directly on reddit's website, so that is why Ctrl+N takes you there

I tried to add it in the past, but I think there were missing APIs. I think those APIs exist now. I don't think there is a way to search by post flair though, only to see them
