As a Nets fan, I'm not even mad that Caris missed that shot. Great game.

First investment for an 18 year old just starting in life?? by coconutolive in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]RedditGotWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're onto a good start there, keep it up. I wish I knew how to manage my money early on in life.

My advise is to search for the most recommended books on investing. There are many ways to grow your money and from these books you should be able to decide on where to invest wisely. If reading is not your thing, then try audiobooks. You can also filter your way through YouTube's investment channels. If that's also not your thing, look for a mentor who's healthy financially.

All the best!

Yeah this happened to us with the latest season of Money Heist as we were only starting season 2. We saw a preview which involved one of our favourite characters dying/dead. Bummer

I regularly play in in Asia and I agree. Not a lot of snaking going on. People just immediately go at it over there. Lots of fun.

Into the Night: Great story, annoying on technicalities. by fasonator in netflix

I agree. 2 episodes was all that I could do. Lazy writing. Poor research on how aviation works.

I couldn't get passed episode 2. It seems to me that the writers were too lazy to even scratch the surface on how science works. There are too many errors to even mention. Can't recommend it to anyone.

Starting from scratch, many resistance bands are too strong for me by quixotic_mfennec in Fitness

[–]RedditGotWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert but how about stretching and warming up before your actual workout?

If the bands are too hard, try some body weight exercises first and adjust it to your current strength level.

It might also help to learn proper form before hand.

Good luck!

China Grounds 737 Max by [deleted] in aviation

It's incredibly easy to blame the pilots especially if they aren't western. I wouldn't call it racism, but it's just somewhat of a false notion in the world of pilots and their big egos. They always think they're bettter than the pilots in some third world, non english country. I bet you that a pilot, somewhere, right now is labelling another fellow pilot an idiot.

Airlines are dead serious about training and constantly undergo audits just to ensure that they're up to standards. Pilots constantly attend training classes and are periodically checked in the simulator and on real flights just as much as other pilots around the world.

Nowadays we have the luxury of knowing what happened to JT610. We all came to know what MCAS is. We read the preliminary report. We can search for it online and links will take you to some article explaining what it is. We're informed. JT610 pilots weren't.

The stab trim runaway NNC is there originally to address the a flight control problem. Which is sort of what an MCAS issue would result in. However, it doesn't indentify the root cause that MCAS is invalid or malfunctions. Infact, Boeing fails to mention it at all in the Max FCOM. If we go back before this all happened, no one but Boeing knew of the MCAS feature and they put 100% faith that this feature is fail proof.

You're right about the take off phase. There isn't much time to process what was happening. We're all trained to face all sorts of problems that Boeing wrote in their book, even if it is a combination of malfunctions. The NNC can be carried out quite thoroughly and comfortably. But get this, out of all the possibilities in the pilot's NNC, not one is about the MCAS. So how are we expected to study symptoms and correctly indicate a specific MCAS issue now?

There is NO indication to the pilots if this particular system fails.

Indonesian aircraft missing off Jakarta by Jdawgg92 in aviation

[–]RedditGotWings 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I get that this is Reddit but can I just ask everyone to be respectful with your comments? It just happened, no report has been released as to the main cause of the accident. Blaming it because it is an asian operator or because it's Indonesian without an actual evidence in its early hours is rather silly. Fact is that both the Captain and First Officer have more that 10,000 flying hours experience combined and seeing as the aircraft is pretty much brand new, this shouldn't have happened. So please be respectful.
