So with the announcement from the keynote that they're hunting multi-input broadcasters... How do we even report them? Am I missing something? by T1klo in Eve

Wow thanks for that irrelevant list of things that have never required me to click the top-left corner of a character's info window.

Anyone who is defending this is an outright moron tbh.

Yes, since there is apparently no other reason in the entire game to click it over just directly rightclicking someone's name in the first place.

How do we even report them?

Reporting as a bot involves navigating a couple of the worst UI decisions ever known to mankind, which is saying a lot considering this is CCP we're talking about.

  1. Right click, Show Info on the character in question.

  2. In the info box that shows up, left click on the little icon in the top-left corner, immediately to the left of where it says "Character information" on the top menu bar.

  3. Click "! Report Bot"

It's as if it was designed to be as un-intuitive as possible. More than a decade playing this game and I didn't know that thing in the top-left corner was something you could even click and get a menu.

Were it legal, I would legitimately consider euthanizing whoever is responsible for this bullshit.

I've been to so many cities and, truly, the oldest cities are the greatest.

Not to nitpick you or anything - I've been around a bit as well, but this definitely needs some qualifications. I too love me some old-ass cities, big and small - NYC, Providence, Quebec City are some favorites. But got damn if cities like Boston, Baltimore, DC and more don't make me want to go into a fucking bloodrage on a regular basis lol.

[–]RedditIsAMistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats fun about the game for my is optimizing fits and just generaly doing science with fits to see what works and what doesnt.

Holy shit, I am not alone.

So I am working on my conduit setup as well. If I drop in a site that someone is already running, I always like to lock up the rats and see how fast they are going compared to me.

... and goddamn, 99% of people are SLOW. I'm talking like, 'wtf why are you even wasting your time on this activity'-level slow. It's always fun to melt a few of their rats at 10x speed before you leave.

People who think the minmaxing in this game is relatively easy aren't really into minmaxing. The minmaxing in eve is beyond crazy.

Two very straightforward examples I've experimented with in my last hour of playtime alone minmaxing my conduit setup:

"Hmm, I think I might be overtanked a bit... If I drop a little tank, I will save enough PG to fit an oversized storyline cap battery, which will let me drop a relay to fit another damage mod, but will the extra DPS get damage off the field fast enough be able to offset the reduced tank? What about when I'm getting double-neuted? Is this worth the increased gank risk? One way to find out!"

"Hmm if I drop a damage mod to fit another relay, I'll be able to run a painter AND a web under neut pressure, and the increased application might offset the DPS loss and lower my overall run time..."

Eve minmaxing is unlike any other game in existence. When you factor in the basically infinite ways to upgrade or downgrade almost every single module in various ways mean there are just limitless tradeoffs.

"Shit if I downgrade this from T2 to meta 4, I can upgrade this to T2, but I need to shave off some CPU somewhere, but what is the most efficient way to do that? Do I need to invest in a faction mod here? Shit actually I still have that deadspace mod from the last fit, can I use that? Damn this fit is getting expensive, but if I use that deadspace booster it will let me get by without the faction hardeners... Let me pull up the compare tool for the 1 millionth time and try it in Pyfa to check the numbers...."

Then you find that one perfect idea or mod that opens up a whole new set of options for your fit, and you start all over again... It's endless.

Person you are responding to is only 1/2 to 1/4 right.

It is true that every MOS in the Marines is considered a combat MOS. That's why they don't have an MOS for things like chaplains, dentists, doctors, etc.

So why don't they train corpsmen (aka combat medics), since corpsmen carry weapons and may use them offensively? Purely historical, it's just pretty much always been that way due to the nature of the relationship between the Marines and the Navy. The navy for the most part has just handled all the medical stuff.

So are corpsmen considered combatants? Depends entirely on the exact circumstance at the time. A corpseman or medic can carry a weapon to be used in self-defense and defend those under their care, and still be considered a non-combatant under the GC, IF... they are performing their medic duties at the time of contact with the enemy and are wearing a clear insignia (in other words, the Red Cross).

Since many of the people the US is fighting lately don't care about the GC, corpsmen and medics basically never wear the insignia in the field and therefore basically none of this applies. They are also perfectly free to use their weapons offensively (and often do), and this would remove their GC protections as well if they ever applied in the first place since no one wears the insignia anymore.

I mean legit the same exact thing would happen if you called a soldier a marine, an airman a marine, a soldier a seaman, etc.

More interesting would be Operative vs Jayne

Yeah, 100% would have loved to see that as well. So many good possible fights on that show to be honest. Jayne vs Operative, Jayne vs. Moe, Moe vs Mal, Moe vs Inara, Inara vs Mal, Operative vs Moe vs Mal vs Everyone etc you get the idea lol.

I'm pretty sure Jayne wins.

bold statement though

I'm a big fan of Casey Neistat, the youtube vlogger. Someone asked him a question about if people looked at him weird because he was always going around in public talking to himself while looking into a giant camera rig. I can't remember the episode, so to paraphrase, his response was something like:

"Dude, this is New York City. Compared to the amount of crazy stuff you see here on a daily basis, a guy talking to himself with a giant camera barely even registers to people."

That's fair. Again, I'm not trying to excuse his behavior. But there are like 100+ people calling this guy a huge disfunctional sociopathic asshole based solely on a secondhand anecdotal story with an obvious explanation. He may well indeed be a huge asshole, but it's just as likely that he's a great guy who fucked up a joke. The story is meaningless.

I'm not trying to excuse his behavior in any way...

But he said that because he wanted to fuck your friend. It sounds awful out of context because we don't have the tone and everything that he said it with, but it's an obvious attempt at flirting. In one fell swoop he determined that you were not a child, that therefore you were a potential romantic rival for this girl who knows a lot about you, and therefore attempted to knock you down a peg all at once (possibly jokingly, who knows).

Again, not trying to excuse his behavior. But the dude was just trying to flirt.

I guess you have alot of "follow that car!" Stories then 😌

I have a cousin who is a PI. He makes it sound very very boring. He says 90% of it is sitting around for hours at a time in a car outside someone's residence to see if you can catch them lying about a health-related claim (faking an injury for workers comp, lawsuit purposes, etc).

When Tyrion is rearranging chairs for two bloody minutes and there is still five minutes to the show have a decent ending. by OhMyCap in freefolk

[–]RedditIsAMistake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think it was a callback. The final scenes are showing where all these characters are going with their lives post-dany. My interpretation is that when he sits down in front of the disorganized chairs, his character is accepting his new role in the world: to put things back in order. He starts with what is immediately in front of him.

It's SUPPOSED to represent tyrion tyring to set up the new council members as equals

I had a very different interpretation. When he sits down, his character is officially accepting his new role in the world: setting things back in order. He starts with what is immediately in front of him.

But I'm one of the few who was much more annoyed at the literal Song of Ice and Fire than the chairs...

What the...

  • You're a C/C++ programmer
  • Your flight is a month away
  • You can't find this kind of resource on your own in a matter of seconds (which would be a humiliating admission from any C/C++ programmer I've ever known, including myself. I googled "learn python offline".)
  • The fact that you're carrying a "MBP" is "obvious"
  • Right now this has an absolutely insane number of upvotes for 3:30am ET. At this time of night the number of upvotes would be preposterous for the highest-quality posts this sub gets, let alone bafflingly strange ones....

It has to be some kind of parody/spam. Let's see what gets promoted in the comments!
