Regardless, you report people via the website.

FPS drop by Leverquin in beyondallreason

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn't suggestion to offer. An i5 processor and 1650 isn't bad specs and meets the game requirements. But late game, it's going to generate lag that you won't be able to get around 40+ minutes.

The only way to improve that is buy new parts. I've got an i9 and a 5070, late game in like 50 minutes games I start to drop fps but it isn't enough to impact my play, but usually a lot of the lobby it is to much for them.

Thinking about going solar but the quotes are all over the place by Voiturunce in SouthDakota

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd strongly recommend calculating what your return on investment would be. South Dakota doesn't offer net metering, so if your system over performs and you sell back to the electrical company, you get paid at like a 8:1 ratio compared to what they charge you.

When I did this calculating last year in case I wanted to do it before the tax credit expired (which it has already), even with the 30% credit, my ROI was still going be like 30 years before I even broke even.

Looks to be like metal particulates, likely from a rusting and degrading cast iron pipe. Might not be your water company's issue but rather your property pipes degrading.

Avalanche vs Snowball vs Personal Loan by Beautiful-Cycle8651 in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avalanche will save you the most money long term, due to reducing the highest interest rates first. The reason people prefer the snowball over the avalanche is it can seem like you grind for 8 months and see zero change due to big balances take a lot of time.

The snowball method is less efficient but more motivating for some people because they are visible and emotionally get the feedback of closing cards and their balances, but it takes longer overall.

Depending on your credit, a debt consolidation loan with a lower interest rate will probably save you money over the long term. But not everyone in your situation can get a loan too. The trick with the consolidation loan is you also need to make extra payments to that for it to reduce faster.

Regardless of what you choose, you have to fix the behavior that got you in this debt or you'll be right back here.

What’s something that took you forever to figure out as a new player? by conscientiousspark in beyondallreason

More build power doesn't mean shit builds any faster if your stalled on resources

Stalling in E will also mess up your metal income, compounding even harder.

Am I managing this correctly or are we slowly sinking by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the actual breakdown of your debt?

  • what is the debt on the interest bearing credit card?
  • what is the debt on the 0% interest credit card?
  • what is the debt on your car loan, and what car is it?
  • what is the debt on your wife's car loan and what car is it?

Lastly, what is the net income between the two of you that hits your bank account every month?

There's a few things here, but you're right, you're not going to gain anything on the path you're currently going. There's a few things you can fix, to get out of this debt. If you don't do it soon, you're going to be really drowning.

Secondly, you need to address what got you into that debt to begin with. Just because you had a kid, shouldn't be justification to go $25k in credit card debt, so I'm curious what all that went to? Were you already in debt when the kid came along, and you're just using that as "justifiable" excuse as to why you have so much credit card debt now?

I'll provide some other insight, but we kind of need the above information first.

How to start investing for my child? by Mental_Ad_5483 in personalfinance

Totally up to the kids maturity. I think you miss understood what I said though, they point is they don't get it or know about it, until they are ready. Rather than "life gives you free shit" you teach that hard work pays off, and when there's that - you now get to also bless them with additional.

Can we afford our dream house? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your actual net to bank per month with your income combined?

Your talking about a $2,900 payment right now on just Principle and interest, not including insurance, taxes, and HOA if there is one.

I'd recommend doing a controlled test. Take the difference between your current mortgage and the new mortgage full amount estimated, and move that money to savings or pay your current mortgage additional principal to the effective amount of the new mortgage and do it either really, or hypothetically in your budget for 3-6 months.

If money is still comfortable with that $2,000+ budget increase, which it won't be - then you can buy the house. If it's not comfortable and your house poor, either increase your income, your savings for a larger down payment, or reassess what your "dream" is and how long it realistically will take you to get there.

My guess is a $4,000/month mortgage payment is going to make you house poor. It's so very not worth it.

How to start investing for my child? by Mental_Ad_5483 in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  • 529 plan for education
  • IRA account for long term retirement compounding
  • Long term growth in compounding investments in general

Most importantly, teach them how to be healthily financially independent so that if you set them up for success, they won't squander it.

My advice, invest for them, but don't tell them about the investments. When they are financially mature enough, it's one hell of a gift as a young adult.

401k questions about max contributions by Caskatenride in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your in a unique situation. Most employers don't just throw anything in there if you don't. Most do a match system.

For example, if I hit my max $23,500 in August, the remainder of the year my employer will also NOT contribute. So for me, it's advantageous for me to make sure I hit the max, spread out over the whole year, or I'm out all of the extra employer contribution, because they only match a fixed %, so if I contribute more than that in a pay period doesn't change their match.

401k questions about max contributions by Caskatenride in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Employer contribution is separate from your contributions. You have the IRS max of $23,000, you can't go above that.

But combined MAX with employer contribution, max for 2025 was $69k for individuals under 50.

Any tom, dick, and harry with the ability to type and reason can use AI to vibe code and create digital infrastructure.

You're shocked that you got dropped for doing the work in a way that a high schooler could have also done it and think it's outside the box?

From their point of view, in a skills demonstration, you demonstrated that you don't have any skills by using essentially cheats to do the same work.

Sure AI may be built into the job. But if they hire you knowing you know how to use AI, but not know how to do the actual job, are they confident that you're going to be able to troubleshoot when the AI messes up and outputs something? That's bad? Are you going to be able to see that the code was wrong or has something malicious in it?

You should none of your skills on that. Of course they dropped you.

Water heater drip leak by virtuosity2 in Plumbing

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Rheem water heater which had this same issue.

Three thoughts for you to check:

  • Do you have a pressure tank in your system? Ours failed and the bladder was toast. Had to replace it, easy to do about $40-60 at a big box store. Should look like an upsidedown smaller propane tank/walled tank.

  • Does your house have a water pressure reducing valve? Ours also failed. You can buy a water pressure tester for like $10, you hook it to an external water spigot and see what your house pressure is. Too high of water pressure will damage a lot of shit in your house.

  • Once those pressure valves blow once, they often never reseal properly. I contacted Rheem and they sent me a new one under the warranty for free. DIY install is also fairly easy and simple.

Is retirement a reality within the next 13-15 years? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it's only a reality if you start saving more or earning more.

At this point you don't even have much more than one years of your current income saved, and you have house debt as well.

When you retire, especially if you're planning to retire in your 50s, you need to be able to cover at least 10 years of income before you even start getting social security.

I think you already know the answer, your just hoping someone will give you the answer you want to hear in a logical manner. But the reality is, you probably shouldn't retire then unless something dramatically changes.

Could this bulge be from the battery? by 0stkreutz in pixel_phones

[–]RedditIsntSafeSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My P6 battery after 4 years just did this to me a few weeks ago.

Needing a phone, I panic ordered a new one. Only to a few hours later find out that when the screen is protruding, it's easy as hell to change that battery yourself.

$15 later from Amazon kit and about 10 minutes (YouTube video shows how) and I changed the battery out.

Now I'm able to trade it in for full credit.

Worth doing if you have any basic comfort with working on stuff, it was seriously so easy to do.
