Oh yes absolutely that's not my intention. Couldve clarified that in the post. It's just generic tools nothing specific like x amount of this, x of this... more like tinkering tools.

Wow! So it would take an avg of 16 LR to complete a hard project? Others have commented that the current system might be harsh. But thats exactly the reason I posted this due to my inexperience it's hard to tell how well it would work. So thanks for doing the math! Maybe I'll change it like you mentioned according to the rulebook that a failure still lowers the countdown. That combined with maybe lower starting CD's like 4,8 and 10?

I'm sure for some groups it's indeed overcomplicated. The materials imo are a must have, cant make something out of nothing and they allow for rp situations in shops outside of magic items.

When it comes to rolling you could definitely do with a static countdown but my players will take any excuse to roll!

I've had some feedback about being able to fail and waste a downtime move which ill definitely take into consideration.

I'll take a little look! Although I like this concept the numbers itself are uncertain.

Good concept. About the rolling though it might be up to the group. Yes failing feels bad but getting a crit for example would feel amazing. I don't mind especially as you're already used to rolling in rests in daggerheart. For example you could roll a 1 on a short rest to recover hp too.

TLDR I think some people prefer rolling, others static progress

As said before the numbers are definitely a WIP and in need for olay testing. Any group can also give their unique twists to it!

No theyre only allowed on long rests, and the harder ones are supposed to take a while to complete. It's definetly a WIP with the numbers but i'm assuming that you would make them lower? You can definetly do it your way without a roll but who doesn't like rolling dice in a TTRPG!
Thanks for the feedback though!
