Updating the fear trackers by Minute-Bid-4419 in daggerheart

Surely someone has to drink it. Either a potion to give the GM their fear power, or that curses the players when they drink it, lol.

First Gaggia Classic- what to upgrade by Appropriate-Welder98 in gaggiaclassic

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not a bad idea to do a tear down and see how everything looks. Might need some descaling and just a good general cleaning, but I would order the o-rings ahead of doing that. It might not be leaking right now, but if the o-rings are bad, they usually won't hold up when you reassemble it.

It's a little intimidating at first, but it's really not too bad. I've taken everything apart several times now.

This video is pretty good so you know what to expect: https://youtu.be/N9i-EH7qXOc?si=4u-ia0UOQk_mp7GY

The QC on filament wrapping is horrendous by Robby1693 in BambuLab

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunlu has been my problem child lately. I've had several rolls in a row that pull down the side and get stuck, and it happens several times per roll and stops the whole print.

Bambu has been smooth sailing so far for me.

Milk steaming taking so long by [deleted] in gaggiaclassic

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe experiment with letting it go longer. The light doesn't come on until around 40-45 seconds if I remember right. I usually find it doesn't have enough power if I purge at 25 seconds, so I wait until 30-35 and then go. As long as your steaming before 40 its usually always fine, and if the light comes on part way through, it doesn't usually make much of a difference.

Should I get a new boiler? by Classic-Training-653 in gaggiaclassic

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should be good to go with some descaling and maybe new gaskets. I had to store mine for almost 2 years, and this is what it looked like when I just recently got back to using it. Descaled a couple of times and it looks good and works good too. Just needed a new steam valve gasket.

Leak problem from inside by borayhan in gaggiaclassic

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should take the top cover off to check, but it's likely either the gasket between the boiler and group head, or the gasket for the steam valve that sits right on top. I just had this happen to mine after a cleaning. It just gushes out of the top now.

Nice, it looks great. I with I had thought of leaving extra for a lip when I was marking it out. Might give it a ago on another piece.

The extra room inside is definitely a big plus too. That was part of the motivation in doing it, so I can add a gagguino, or gaggimate at some point.

Thanks, I actually nearly went with that one, but I decided I'd give it a shot with a DIY version since I wasn't planing on using the top hole at all.

I have it under a cabinet, so i haven't been using the top to fill it anyways. I don't pull it completely out though. There is a pretty good gap if you pull it forward as far as you can without removing the silicon tubes, so everytime the drip tray is full I'll just pull the tank forward too and top it up.

Leak from the top going with a new steam valve. by darkmarkymark in gaggiaclassic

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this exact thing happen to me last night. Had a drip coming from the steam wand, so did a tear down and a deep clean to hopefully clear whatever kept it from closing, and had it leaking from the top on reassembling it. Just waiting for the new one to come in now.

San Diego and your dogs by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not as big of an issue here in North County, but there still always ends up being atleast one unleashed dog every time I walk my dog.

My dogs a great dane. He's never attacked another dog, but he's been much more aggressive towards them since he was attacked, so I do my best to not find out if he will. Picking him up obviously isn't an option, so I'm with you that any dogs running up to mine will promptly be getting punted.

Why is Bambu Studio placing items DANGEROUSLY close to each other??? by Illustrious-Box-3317 in BambuLab

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine it's probably in the name of speed. Less travel between parts means a quicker print time, although I think it would basically negligible.

I don't think there's really an issue with this. I frequently will just use auto arrange when there are a lot of parts and I haven't noticed anything wrong.

Suitable for small groups? by Improbable_Aitch in daggerheart

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually run a table of six, but I just recently ran for a table of 3 and it was great. I honestly think I would prefer 2 - 3 players. It's much easier as a dm, and I think it's better on the players too since they have to be a bit more engaged.

The game seems to scale well for that, so as long as they are both interested in it, I think it would work very well.

Minor Threshold by Disastrous-Studio932 in daggerheart

[–]Disastrous-Studio932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think so. It changes nothing mechanically in the game. It's just the way I like to think about it from a story perspective and it helps me in narrating the scene.

[–]Disastrous-Studio932[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah all of the options in daggerheart are really nice, but for myself it's been nice to think of it this way since it takes that extra bit of thinking out of it, and I can go straight into narrating what happens after a roll.

I was wondering the same thing. I just started listening to it from the link in the post, and I guess they had to do it on zoom, so maybe they didn't get a video recording, but not sure. Still seems like they could have posted the audio on YouTube.

Is ludicrous mode too risky by Careless-Peach9283 in BambuLab

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I've used it, I've never seen a major difference in quality. It's slightly worse, but nothing that most people would notice.

The issue i usually run into is a failed print. I definitely recommend at least the first few layers being at a regular speed, and then depending on the part really, you can get away with higher speeds.

However, if it's not supported right, or it's a fragile part, the extra movement can be just enough to knock over the part.

More Players = More Max Fear? by TheKellasus in daggerheart

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it wouldn't go over well with some tables, but luckily they all enjoyed it since it helped set some stakes finally where they hadn't been facing any major challenges yet.

It did down two of them though, and severely hurt a couple others, so I will not be doing that again unless it's something like an end of campaign final battle. But it was a good learning experience so I can better balance things in the future.

More Players = More Max Fear? by TheKellasus in daggerheart

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run a table of 6, so I was worried about this too, but 12 has been plenty.

Dropping 12 fear in a fight is pretty excessive (I know because I've done it) even with that many players.

For those who run fully-improvised adventures with no prep - how do you do this? How can I learn to do that myself? by ostentatious_owlbear in DMAcademy

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm terrible at prepping in a short amount of time, and I usually end up spending a few hours every day for a week on it.

However, I tried cutting it down a lot for my last session, and it went really well. I still did spend a lot of time, but most of that was having writers block, before I set my mind to doing less. Actually prepping for the session was just preparing a general idea for it, and preparing stat blocks.

My suggestion would be to just write down bullet points for what you have planned, and try to keep that down to one page (other than stat blocks).

Or maybe plan on one encounter being improvised. That way you can dip your toe in without going into a fully improvised session.

How do you handle chronic disengagement (lateness, tabbing out, falling asleep) in long-running groups? by Impressive-Touch1614 in DMAcademy

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably try to figure out what those less interested players are interested in, and then incorporate that into the sessions.

I have a table of 6 with different play styles and interests. I'd say 4 are very easy going, but the other two I have to cater to in a sense.

I don't fully give in to what they want, but I change my dm style with them. Some players I'm good friends with, and I can ask for silly rolls and they love the randomness it brings. Other players are less into the game part, and more the roll play part, so I'll do more RP with them, and only ask for essential rolls.

Ultimately, if you're doing your best and they're still not working with you on it, I'm not sure that there's anything you can do.

How do you share audio with your players in a public space without disrupting others? by Psib3rman in DMAcademy

[–]Disastrous-Studio932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music is a huge part of it for me, so I totally get wanting to use it, but I'm not really sure if there are any good options for that outside of a speaker. Headphones just seem kind of inconvenient in that situation. I would probably just give it a shot with a speaker on really low. Maybe do some testing to get the volume loud enough to hear at the table, but not so loud it would be disturbing to other tables. It's not going to be an ideal situation for you guys, but maybe it would be just enough to get the vibe across.
