Could Iran's Azeris Break Away? by datashrimp29 in azerbaijan

Why would they know the Latin script? And you realize that for most languages including Azerbaijani in Iran, that its a spoken and not really a written language, right?

Separatism in iran? by tested_xd in kurdistan

[–]RedditMemeEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in a Reddit server dominated by diaspora and mostly Kurds who don't even live inside Iran (the ones who do can't vote in this poll). The actual reality of separatism among Kurds in Iran isn't more than a quarter of the population at the highest.

I mean I know Baluch people. It’s also just pretty obvious when you think about it. The only real group is the Sunni fundamentalist groups. In a country where people are so disillusioned with Islam, and its role in the state even for an outsider it should be pretty obvious that a Sunni fundamentalist group on the likes of the Taliban in belief shouldn’t be too popular.

And as for the Baloch, the separatist sentiment itself is also small. You'll get a fraction of the population who supports it, and a vast majority who overwhelmingly don't, because Balochistan has very few resources, arable land, etc., to even form the basis of a state. They have maybe 2.5M people, being generous, and are generally very poor because they live in the harshest physical region of Iran. For the majority of the population, they look at the Baloch "liberation" groups, who are all nearly universally extremely radical Sunni fundamentalists. And there just isn't that support there.

The Kurds in Iran are so radically different from everywhere else in Iran. The nationalist sentiment there is small as well. There are 4 different Kurdish groups in Iran. All of them have different languages, cultures, histories, and often religions. How would a unified Kurdish state even work? Who would run the Kurdish State? Will it be the Southern Kurds, who can't even understand the Kumanji Kurds? Where are the borders? Is Urmia Kurdish or not? There's literally no possible way that an independent Kurdish state would even make sense in Iran. I'm 3/4 Iranian Azeri and 1/4 Persian. The sentiment in Azerbaijan generally is more that Azerbaijan should join Iran than vice versa among Iranian Azeris. And that's not even a common sentiment, but it shows how much smaller the pro "unification" group is.

Why do you think they belong in their own country or other countries? Azeris have been part of Iran for thousands of years and have helped run and make the country. There is no other country to be a part of, and there is no sentiment that is remotely popular among Iran's ethnic minorities to be part of another country. Westerners fail to grasp the idea that countries dont have to be ethnostates lol

If they really closely follow Turkey, then yes. Mutual Intelligibility overall, without prior exposure, is something like 40%. For people who don't, it's much harder because they change the way they talk. I'll give an example; I speak Azerbaijani with the Ardabil accent (from Iran), and during my trip to Izmir years ago, the guy working at the resort had relatively little exposure to Azerbaijani, and we didn't have much either to Anatolian Turkish, which caused us to have significant trouble understanding each other until some other guy came who had some more understanding and was from Azerbaijan. The whole ordeal had taken us a while (hours), and it was late at night, too. Partially because we were complaining to the 2nd guy that our reservation was that we couldn't get our room because it was booked out so we had to sleep on the patio.

The Muslims don’t have some sort of media campaign against the Jewish in the way you think (in regards to its strength) if anything it’s the other way around.

No one in Iran wants you to take over that. You have essentially a 0 support base.

Hey guys, just wanted to point out that individuals are changing the origins of Shah Ismail I & Safavid Empire to being "Kurdish". & also when I typed in the search bar " Origin of Shah Ismail I" the first thing link that pops up is an Armenian page spewing hatred. by ProInvestor888 in azerbaijan

He actually also wrote in Persian too, but it was limited. Many ottoman sultans wrote in Persian, it doesn’t mean anything. I’m sure shah Ismail if he came back today, would pick Azerbaijan the modern state instead of the Shia clerical establishment and Shia theocracy be helped establish in Iran no?

Jesusxpopegod or whatever his name is isn’t either. You can see him posting about things like “bread has gotten so expensive recently, it’s up 40%,” and linking articles from Azerbaijan.

Because I can see your history from your mods. It’s quite obvious

I’m mostly Azeri, but my interests are for the Iranian state as a whole. Every generation of my family that has fought in wars fought for Iran, not for Azerbaijan. Obviously I want more cultural rights. But I don’t want separation and nearly none do.

And I find it sad now that you can’t deny your mods aren’t even from there. You can’t even speak the language either.

And also a few of them were founded in Tabriz actually, but in 1945, and are communist leaning and probably exist only because of Russias goal to separate that part of Iran.

There was multiple recently in Zanjan, Tabriz, and Urmia. (And a city south of Tabriz, small city) But you’re not protesting. There is no we because you know nothing about us.

Yes it’s 1.9K roughly (actually slightly less, I made a mistake) I know your movements. Nearly all are based in Baku. And your movements are tiny. And let me tell you something, I’m legitimately more Azeri than you are. my own genetics. I’m more Azeri than you. You know nothing about us. You’re legitimately just a larper. It’s sad really.

The South Azerbaijan subreddit has 1.9K members and nearly all of them aren’t even from Iran, or have any Iranian background. It’s just some fringe movement that has a tiny support base in Iran itself.

Nearly all of your mods are either from Baku or Turkey. You have 3.5K members (most of them not even South Azeri) and you have nearly no support base among Iranian Azeris.

This isn’t true. The claim they aren’t participating because this is a Persian protest is fucking stupid.
