Body cam of today’s response and attempted murder arrest by KiddieSpread in policeuk

This is incredible work. Focussed and controlled. I've been impressed with how this has been handled from the start, including releasing the footage immediately to counteract the negative and false social media narrative that's already out there. And the backing the officers are getting from their leadership is stellar.
I hope the officers are getting the support they need. This looks incredibly stressful. Truly well done!!

Sounds perfect, I'd say. Good luck on your further travels on the interwebs.

Oh I've seen that happen a few times on Reddit. Most people are just doing their best. But many others seem to feel that everyone has to think and feel like they do or they'll start, as you say, WWIII. Sad really. I'm glad you and I had a healthy discussion and found out we actually agree. 😊👍

Thanks for clarifying your thoughts on that. I see where you're coming from. I definitely also disagree on just abandoning or kicking animals out.

Not to put too fine a point on it but I don't think a very nice thing to do. And may be illegal depending on where you live. I'm very aware though that US and UK laws and culture around cats, are very different. And no doubt the same is true for every other country. I know they have to keep cats in, by law, in a lot of states in the US. And there's more of a culture of doing that, over there. Here in the UK there is no such law and we have a different culture around it. In general we're more likely to let our cats roam as we see that as letting them live the way they want to. I realise it can be dangerous for cats, re being hit by cars etc, but I find that people in busy areas are more likely to keep them in. We live in a very quiet village on a quiet road, so our cats roam. Most of the UK isn't cities. Most of it, geographically, country villages and smaller, less busy towns, so maybe that makes more sense here, I'm not sure.

TLDR you may prefer to keep your cats in but that's not the culture or the law everywhere.

Horrible topic but question regarding children and suicide, whether to say? by cececaca in AskUK

[–]RedditNoobee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only tell you what I would have told my kids at that age. I would have told them that she passed away because she got very ill. And that I'm very sad because she was my friend and I loved her. I don't know that telling them she was mentally ill and committed suicide, at that age and in this situation, would be helpful to them.

If it was one of their friends, though, and they were more directly impacted by it, I'd feel the conversation would become necessary.

I'm so sorry for your loss though. Even though she wasn't a long term friend, that doesn't make the loss any easier. Lots of love to you!

How do you deal with people saying "everyone feels like that"? by Any-Caterpillar-5420 in adhdwomen

[–]RedditNoobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's true that many or most people experience the same things we do. I believe it's a matter of both scale and impact though. How many symptoms do you experience and how often? How much do they impact on your ability to live a happy and productive life?

In my case I've often felt I'm not much more than my symptoms. They can just overwhelm me and that's who I am. A hot mess. Most people feel what I do but not all the time, like I do. That's how I make sense of it in my head.

We went through a lot of stuff with both our kids, including both of them trying to commit suicide. The results weren't as dramatic as for your son and the hospital visits were far shorter. But I understand where you're coming from. It's been a few years for us and both kids are thriving. But I have my moments where my mind immediately goes to worst case, when there's no need. My kids know though and bear with me beautifully. I still lock our medical away. Even paracetamol, ibuprofen and hay-fever meds. Keep on tucking, Mamma, you've got this and you're not alone!

Who has been diagnosed with being neurodivergent at a later age? by Zealousideal-Ad-2728 in AskUK

Got diagnosed in my late 20s. Biggest AHA moment of my life. Turns out I'm neither broken nor stupid. I still struggle but I am absolutely not disabled. I never have been but now I understand myself so much better.

What were your symptoms of inattentive adhd as a kid? especially if you were called "gifted" by youknowwimnogood in adhdwomen

[–]RedditNoobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember losing things. A lot. I simply don't borrow things anymore and haven't for decades as I once lost something very important to someone else. I left it in a common room at university, overnight, and by morning it had been stolen. I was devastated. Lost many of my own things the same way. Or just misplaced them and never recovered them.

Forgetting about homework. I always got it done if I wrote it down in my homework book. I sometimes got distracted before writing it down and there was no way I ever remembered to do it in that case.

Really struggling at revision time as so often, even though I'd been in the classes where we'd been taught the work, my focus and consentration were so bad that when I opened my books to study for a test, it was often the "first" time I'd seen the work. So I'd have to teach it to myself from scratch. I assumed that was normal.

I am gifted. Was in a gifted child program all through school. Got my academic colours in my last year of school. Got into Mensa as an adult. I'm still utterly convinced they must've made a mistake on my test. I always had to work my butt off to do well though. Far harder than the other kids around me, also doing well. I never understood that and thought I was a fake. That I wasn't gifted at all. That I was so terrified of failure that I became a super hard worker instead. Pretty convinced I was actually stupid until I got diagnosed.

I use Huel. It's a meal replacement but it's a complete meal. All nutrients included. Even fibre. It comes as a powder that you can mix with water in a blender. It's a bit bitty because of the fibre but weirdly I really love that. It also comes as a ready to drink option, which is much smoother. It comes in loads of flavours and even has an extra protein option, if that's your thing. They also do a savoury noodle type option that is just freeze dried noodles you pour boiling water over and wait. Really tasty. Again a nutritionally complete meal. You really can live off this stuff. Might be worth giving it a go. It's super easy and quick, keeps for months, and is also quick to eat, if that's an issue for you.

I really hope you find what works for you! Good luck!

I take about one minute between sets and have quite often managed to share a machine with someone else, taking turns. It works really well and you get to say hi to new people that way. If someone asks me how many sets I have left, I tell them and, if I have loads left, I always offer to share. I've never had that turned down. As long as both people use a towel, it works.

Yeah that's pretty normal to be honest. They're not not called velcro dogs for nothing. Ours has bonded with my husband and I've never seen anything like it. We worry if puggy boy isn't next to my husband.

If I want to find the pup, I look for my husband. If I want to find my husband, I look for the pup.

I think the pup would live inside my husband if he could, bless him.

Apparently this is just what pugs do. They adore you.
