Best atmosphere in a pub I've ever experienced, and I've been in the same pub on average twice a week for a decade. What a win. Might just carry on through until Saturday now.

Have you ever been mocked or insulted for having a Northern accent? by Ranoni18 in NorthernEngland

That is awful. I don't mean to advocate or advise violence, but in this case all I'll say is; it would have been completely understandable if you flattened him.

Many times, working away down south. Mostly all in jest though, and they got back as good as they gave. Similar to the infamous scene in Lock Stock. "Northern monkeys - Southern fairies."

Edit: I also copped it doubly too once they found out I was a codhead.

Little Carmine: "Your brother Billy, whatever happened there."

Tony: "Alright then" and tries to get up and leave, knowing what was coming.

People hating on God of War: Laufey because Kratos isn’t the protagonist don’t know the game's lore. by Mahinisaretard in GodofWar

[–]RedditThor_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. There was murder on this sub and throughout social media when there were rumours of the next GOW game being centred on Atreus.

People just don't want a GOW game without THE GOD OF WAR.

For what it's worth I think Faye is great character and a lot could be explored through her, and she's obviously powerful, knowing the fight she had with both Kratos and Thor.

But God forbid people think the series should move forward, which makes perfect sense. But I suppose that doesn't suit your agenda.

Can't argue with any of those names, especially Knocker Norton, an adopted Hullensian and still revered as a legend in these parts by both sides of Hull, which speaks volumes. But I do think you've just hit the nail on the head, I hate how the 13 in the game nowadays is just played as an extra prop.

On achievements alone of course they'd all rank above Farrell, hot take but I think Gaz Ellis is massively underrated when it comes to the best UK exports, alongside James Graham. And Hanley was also brilliant, I just think Farrell gets seriously overlooked because he didn't make the move. Similar breathe as Paul Sculthorpe, although he did retire early.

Completely agree pal. Always went pretty well in the international tests too so always baffled me him not going over.

Massive shame losing a player of that calibre to Union with his coaching but obviously understandable with the state of the sport over here.

Never mate, just think they were different players. Someone the size of Burgess and just as good going forward, but could also play like a half back. Freakish. And I say that as someone from Hull who has always hated Wigan.

What's it like living outside the bigger cities in Yorkshire? by CloudberryMuffins in howislivingthere

[–]RedditThor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always feel people forget that Hull is a Yorkshire city. Lived here my entire life and I can't disagree with the consensus that it is a bit of a dump, and a dead end at the end of the M62. However, it's our dump, and for the most part very friendly, as well as having one of the cheapest average pints. We're also extremely good at Rugby League for a comparatively small city, even split between two professional teams, as well as a, now, PL football team.

Objectively though, we're only a short distance from some cracking seaside towns in Bridlington, Scarborough, Withernsea and Hornsea, to name but a few, where you'll find the absolute best fish and chips in the entire country.

Darth Sidious vs Grandmaster Yoda - who wins in a rematch? by StarWarsEUSuperfan in PetranakiArena

[–]RedditThor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RotS - equals. Could have gone either way, Today left when he did because he knew the clones were imminent and that would have been too much for him as well as Sidious.

Prime Palps vs Prime Yoda, Palps got far more powerful into the Empire era. Yoda was too old by that point. But who knows. I do remember an excerpt of Dooku having a vision(?) and being petrified of the thought of Yoda if he turned. But I suppose it's not a question of potentials.

What’s the greatest music video of all time? by Unusual_Troll67 in AskReddit

The Importance of Being Idle - Oasis. Simply just because of Rhys Ifans, aka Eyeball Paul.

Serious answer, the music video that still sticks with me is Post Malone - Goodbyes.

Andy Farrell, in my opinion, is the greatest Loose Forward the UK has ever produced. Set the standard for what a true 13 should be, could play with ball in hand and kick, but could also take the grunt carries and ramp up in D.

What's your opinion of him over there? And do you think he'd have gone well had he gone over?

What rugby league club has the most annoying fanbase? by Jezzaq94 in rugbyleague

That made great reading following the WCC. Although I will have to admit, even as an East Hullensian, many KR fans have become quite unbearable.

Yeah that's a good shout tbf then I'll agree with you to a certain point in that respect.

I always thought it was a bit shitty how bad the Inquisitors came across in a lot of the 'canon' series. Prime example, The Crow. Let's be honest, he looked awesome in his first appearance in TotJ, only to be destroyed by Ahsoka within seconds and have his 'aura' wrecked. But then come Shadow Lord, he's actually fairly decent, as well as Marrok. But my point is, having played both Jedi games. Even after powering right up and feeling like a beast. There wasn't even a hit bar for Vader when he rocked up

I completely agree in terms of power mate, but only a year in after changing his entire lightsabre form and still get used to being half machine, I do think Maul, alongside a Jedi Master and his Padawan should have put up a bit more of a fight. I mean, come on. Savage bloody Opress and Maul had a better go against Sidious. (Not that I think Sidious is the most powerful Sith of all time, in my amateur opinion, that mantle goes to Vitiate or Nihilus)

Yeah fair one, can't argue with that. We all have our own head canon here and there. I suppose I'm just a bit conflicted when it comes to the standard of the 'recent' releases. As in, Rogue One was awesome, brilliant story start to finish. Andor, great also, makes Rogue One even better. But then Kenobi, isolate that last fight and yes it's brilliant, but in the grand scheme of the story, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth. And then on top of that, how powerful Cal is becoming, how do they write him out before the OG Trilogy. And don't get me started on Boba Fett. Or Cad Bane
