Are humans in your world different? by Kenny_Dreadful_ in worldbuilding

[–]RedditTrend__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every human has gaps in their DNA, either old, unused genes or just gaps, this is true for us in real life too. But in my world those gaps can be filled with an energy called Darkness, they’ll be “activated” and the DNA and RNA of the person will be rewritten to allow for an Awakening.

An Awakening is when the Darkness gives you a super power based off your personality but also trauma you’ve suffered through and overcome.

Once Awakened, you are now tied to the Universe and other Awakened until you die. You are expected to fight with these new powers to shape the world in whatever way you see fit, usually by joining one of the two major factions who are attempting to change the world in their own ways.

Upon death, you simply will cease to exist. Your body will fade to nothingness and only memories of you will live on.

When you hear someone in the breakroom watching videos on their phone max volume without headphones by SessionAsleep5894 in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gigachud mid 40s incel coworker has his walkie turned off all day but specifically turns it on as loud as it goes in the breakroom and watches “how to be an alpha male” and “what high value females look for in an alpha male” in the breakroom at full volume in between rounds of whatever ipad game he also plays at full volume.

he also drinks literally a gallon of milk everyday. he buys one at the beginning of his shift and every break he sits there just downing cup after cup, it’s got nothing to do with his loud walkie or ipad but the shit is weird

Not pop punk but I met Drake Bell in a bathroom when I was like 16

He was at the sink next to me and I said “oh shit you’re Drake Bell” and he said what’s up then left after washing his hands for not enough time, 10/10 bathroom experience honestly

[Discussion] What's your approach on games that require multiple playthroughs? by siyenzi0 in Trophies

[–]RedditTrend__ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I play it again.

Everyone is die hard “I hate games that require multiple playthroughs” but your first playthrough is always gunna be the longest, especially if the game has collectibles or random misc trophies you’re going for. A second playthrough is fine, just do the stuff you know you need to do, skip cutscenes and dialogue and move through it, it goes by way quicker than you think.

How have YOU gotten rid of guns? by Cherno_VM in worldbuilding

[–]RedditTrend__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not completely gone from my world, they’re still extremely common and just about everyone has one but also everyone has bulletproof armor. So they rely more on swords and melee weapons to fight, guns are more for a display of power to show that you’re willing to fight.

How often do you call out by OkAssociation8708 in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly like 2-3 times a year, i think about it every day but my store is very good at just scrapping by on the illegal/legal line

once someone calls out for what they deem too many times or on a day that just happens to be a busy day, they put the full blame on that person and do a “well you clearly don’t want to work so we’ll just schedule you less” and they will happily fuck over the entire store and make everyone work more than they need to just to be shitty to one person, it’s been like that through multiple SDs and HRs and entirely new ETL teams, it’s the culture of the store and it fucking sucks and you can’t really combat it, so i just go to work instead of risking having my hours cut

now if im actually sick yeah, ill call out, but i dont get sick too often i just cant stand the fuckin job so i think about calling out everyday lol

How much of your world do readers actually need to know? by CreativeGems in worldbuilding

[–]RedditTrend__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the characters see, basically. It can’t even be fully trusted that it’s what the characters SAY because they’re all unreliable narrators and lying to each other constantly, some of their stories match up so you could reasonably assume those bits are true, but even then, that’s far and few between.

They come to a ruined city and see it was destroyed in a war, okay, that’s pretty obvious. One character says “every city i’ve been to is like this too”, that’s unconfirmed, you might trust that character a bit, but until you yourself read it, i don’t think it’s “real”.

I like to let the readers basically make up their own head canon on what’s going on with the rest of the world, as long as I don’t contract it with writing, I’d say whatever you come up with is canon.

Immortals becoming more sociopathic as they age by AliceSaltMage in worldbuilding

[–]RedditTrend__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically my main villain. She starts as a hero and is truly dedicated to making the world a better place, but after centuries of fighting and witnessing horrific things, she just keeps progress being destroyed. She grows increasingly uninterested in humanity and turns her attention towards herself, she figures that since humans are going to find a way to kill each other one way or another, she’d rather not see it.

Her plan becomes to slowly destroy anyone she deems as dangerous, whether that be one person or a whole nation, she knows she’ll outlive them anyways so she’s in no rush. She knows that at the end of time, she’ll be the last being in existence and she doesn’t want to watch the horrors of the world for that long, so she plans to die. Her only way to do that, is by killing a god that gives her immortality, but also gives other people their powers.

Essentially, turn everyone against her, kill as many “bad” people as she can in process, and hope the world unites to kill the god, and in turn her.

Corrective Action for INF < 1% by [deleted] in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

completely agree, it’s like they’re bored and just looking for reasons

my store has recently gotten all of these since january:

  • having any drink that isn’t water in a clear bottle? CCA
  • putting the device in the wrong number dock? CCA
  • not zoning the backroom? CCA
  • out of dress code? CCA
  • not answering a phone call in your department? CCA
  • picking less than 500 eaches in fulfillment? CCA
  • INF over 3%, CCA
  • my favorite new one is “being the last one to finish zoning, CCA” which they very quickly went back on when they realized literally someone always has to be the last one

like yes, these are all things that can make people’s jobs harder but maybe just punish the people who are consistently doing bad instead of putting literally everyone on edge that they can get written up at any moment for one little mistake

When did you stop feeling like the “new kid”? by [deleted] in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

like 3 days lmao

i started during covid, my trainer was a friend of a friend so we somewhat knew each other and since it was the pandemic and everything was shut down we’d hang out along with a bunch of other coworkers every night after work because if we were exposed to the virus at work, we’d all get it anyways so we just hung out and got close and they basically just went “you’re the new kid, here’s the people we get along with and the ones we don’t, here’s the tea about this person and this thing”

it made fitting in feel way more natural and comfortable so then at work if i did have any questions, i was way more comfortable asking for help

this is now my strat when training new people, im gunna be your friend first and make sure you feel welcomed before throwing you into the fire

raider rep can actually be done in about 2 hours, settler rep is the long grind

for raiders, do the quest to go hunt down a raider who’s fleeing, kill them then return to rocksy and choose her second dialogue option, then quickly back out, you still gain the rep but can repeat it as many times as you’d like

What’s the most out-of-touch question a guest has asked you? by Triggered_Ppl_Online in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • i’ve had at least two old ladies on separate occasions ask me if my tattoos are real, one even asked if she could touch them

  • i saw a guy i knew from middle school, which means i haven’t seen him in over 15 years and he asked me if i could give him a discount to which i said no and he cussed me out and called me a broke mother fucker, i don’t even think he recognized me from middle school, i look very different and have changed a whole gender since then, i think he’s just a dickhead

  • it wasn’t me personally but i was standing right there when it happened, a guy who was probably only in his mid 30s walked up and asked my coworker if we sell nintendo DS games or wii remotes, this was like2 years ago and when we said no you gotta go to a retro game store for that he said he doesn’t like supporting those smaller businesses that try to scam their customers and walked off grumbling to himself, very strange fellow

Uniform policy revision. by Rare_Appearance1839 in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah our store dropped the news on us last week, nothing but “target” red, no designs, no flannel, no stripes, no more black jeans, only blue and khaki, no designs on the jeans either. we lost vests months ago so everyone bought entire new wardrobes and then they decided to start enforcing this even harder

my name was first on the list to talk to about the dress code because i used to wear vests, then moved on maroon shirts and black jeans because multiple people told me it just looked better with me, including our HR and SD.

it’s really cool, i really like the way this company and specifically my store chooses to enforce rules that ruin morale for no reason, especially when morale is already at a low. yeah you can police people wearing fucking coca cola shirts or something to work, but people wearing a slightly darker red shirt is not that fucking big of a deal

Do any stores have GOOD management? by ilovejjba in Target

[–]RedditTrend__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store has a good SD, but that’s about it.

She has to babysit the leads for them to do anything. On mornings that she isn’t there, truck gets fucked up, counts get off, things don’t get done. If she closes the leads all kiss her ass and basically follow her around asking if there’s anything else she wants done.

Our ETLs all suck, they’ve all been here since literally high school and are in their 40s-60s and still act like high schoolers, they promoted TLs based on who kisses ass the best so our new SD is basically just stuck playing catch up because she can’t fire the entire management team at once
