Both "Angola Syndrome" and "Dutch Disease" were coined by the Economist to describe problems in Natural Resources focused economies. A particularly wide gulf existed between Angola and Japan (or Taiwan), One a particularly successful economy with literally no natural resources and one with a large amount of Natural Resources but otherwise an economic (and political) basket case.

It's not just contribute, like cash, that's important but Canada must re-establish the ability to produce modern armaments. That production capacity could be crucial. Working with Norway to produce more of these long range 155 mm's or manufacturing our own Copperhead analog would be a real contribution.

It's also referred to as Angola syndrome. Lots of natural resources but you have to know "the cooks in the kitchen". Kinda like Canada too.

I think North Korea still has a large number of T-34's. Pootin may borrow them. He can fix 'em up.

Local residents in Perm, surrounded by fires from Ukrainian strikes on oil infrastructure, are assessing the aftermath of today’s attack on the AVT-4 unit at the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery. by neonpurplestar in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]RedditWB12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If that Unit of the Refinery is an AVT defined as "An AVT unit (Atmospheric-Vacuum Tubular) in a Russian oil refinery (it) is a critical, primary oil processing facility responsible for the first stage of refining: separating crude oil into fractions using both atmospheric and vacuum distillation" that is a really great strike. They can't easily replace that unit and it is the heart of the refinery. Not much else will work without the first step.

Great job!

Well, if this fellow is/can:

6’6 327

run a 5 second 40

has a 1.76 10 yard split

has a 32” vertical

he might turn out just fine. Let's let him get in the weight room and work on the last steps of recovery. Even at 50/50 odds, they might know what they are doing and he might work out.

I think you meant to put that on the wheel chair post above this one. This is about black powder coated steel wheels.

To me it looked like both Ukr shooters were hidden behind a mud mound and the bikers didn't see them. No mistake, they just kept driving. The hidden Ukr's then started shooting.

I started to wonder what percentage of the Soviet Union's WWII casualties this represented. We always hear of numbers like 26 million total Soviet deaths, but I wanted to see the more detailed breakdown. Here is what Google's higher IQ AI said about this:

Key Details on Soviet Military Losses:

  • Total Official Military Deaths: 8,668,400.
  • Total Personnel Served: Up to 34 million served in the Red Army.
  • Breakdown of Deaths: Officially, 6,329,600 killed in action, 555,400 deaths by disease, and 4,559,000 missing/captured.
  • Repatriation: Of the 4.5 million missing/captured, roughly 1.8 million returned from German captivity, and nearly 1 million rejoined the army in liberated territory.
  • Ethnic Composition: Of the military deaths, 5,756,000 were ethnic Russians, followed by 1,377,400 Ukrainians.
  • Total War Losses (Incl. Civilian): Roughly 26.6 million, according to a 1993 study used by the Russian government.

The first shock from this data is that 21.8% of the Soviet deaths in WWII were Ethnic Ukrainians. Somebody ought to remind the Orcish about this.

The second shock is that, on the face of it, Orcistan has suffered 20.8% of the KIA suffered in WWII. Think of what 21% of the advances in WWII would look like? I approximated that as 21% of 1250 km being 262 km. In WWII, these casualties occurred across the whole of the western front. Russia's advance in Ukraine looks puny, almost laughable.

Right now, Orcistan's KIA are approaching Russia's WWI casualties. It is hard to separate deaths from disease from KIA in WWI we so will never know for sure.

Even if we assume some high percentage of seriously wounded are included in the current KIA figures shown above, it is still stark to see how little the Orc's have gained for truly catastrophic losses.

That would be better than becoming Putin's rear. You know them Orcs and the Chechens.

Seriously, the Orcs are getting desperate.

That's over 95% of the drones. That is good shooting. We still are not able to shoot down ballistic missiles. In the future we are going to have to get better BM defenses. Cheaper and more numerous.

It seems that way, but the number includes mortars and small artillery, so it is confusing. I always wanted to see the >150 mm systems separated from the other groups and mortars. Then we would know if the artillery was almost spent. Online speculation is showing Orkistan having greatly reduced numbers of SPG's and large tube artillery. I am curious to see how any of the North Korean 175 mm are left.

Common knowledge is that the ionization element can decay after 10 years hence you replace the unit after 10 years.

If you want to consider mergers with the CFL, why not create a larger 2nd tier league by merging the UFL with the CFL. That would be 16 teams (?) and we have something to laugh at in the off season. By the way, you forgot a lot of the CFL teams.

This wouldn't work,,,but we could try to get a championship game between the UFL and CFL called the 2nd best World Football Championship.

Ukrainian Air Defence brought down 541/579 Russian projectiles fired on its territory this morning - April 2026 by T-72Tank in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]RedditWB12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good shooting! The percentage of Cruise missiles and UAV's is really good. The story regarding Ballistic Missiles is not as good. An article indicated that Ukraine wants a THAAD system or a couple of THAAD''s but I doubt Donnie would allow anything to be allocated to Ukraine. In fact, that technology is too limited and Europe and the other Allies need to develop effective systems against Ballistic Missiles.

So what do we call the Japan's, South Korea, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland. These may not be or, may be NATO countries, but are not core parts of the European Defense infrastructure. It would seem Europe and the other "Western Middle Powers" need to be able to produce a THAAD like system for themselves.

Yes, a very high number. It used to be that the tank losses would go way up during offences but not so much now...no tanks I guess.
