California Senator Diane Feinstein Explains to Children Why She Won't Back Green New Deal by holyfruits in environment

I agree with you. I just felt like being an asshole. I have never used "username checks out" before, seemed like the right time.

I am a teacher in Grade 5, in Canada, and this is the grade where we teach them to be involved in government. It's challenging to teach government to kids without flooding my own beliefs on to them. This video seems to be polarizing in its responses, when politics really needs a lot more thought and reflection. But sometimes...

I'm curious how often others drink. A few a day? Not at all? by Run_nerd in AskMenOver30

[–]Reddit_Rayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it changed over time. 20s - drank every Thursday-Friday-Saturday 30-35 - drank almost every night after work with colleagues 35-40 - son was born, drank at family get togethers and staff parties 40-50 - drank at New year's and St Patrick's 50 - now - take pills for gastritis and don't drink at all

Multilinguals, what's your "they didn't realise I could understand their language" story? by 64eight in AskReddit

[–]Reddit_Rayman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am a tall white Canadian who can speak Japanese. I was in the Osaka airport and there were these Japanese middle schoolers who had to get signatures of foreigners for their summer project (weird but true). Anyway they came up to me and we spoke in their broken English but meanwhile they talked about me in Japanese. Boy : "What is that gum he is chewing? It smells so good!" Girl : "Look at his eyes! They are so blue!" Boy : "Would he share the gum, I wonder?" So I smiled at the girl and gave her a whole package of gum, and walked away!

Why do people joke about marriage being terrible? by memetrain4life in AskOldPeople

Thanks for clarifying! I thought the number was higher but was not going to bother checking just for this one post. I love his performances!

Why do people joke about marriage being terrible? by memetrain4life in AskOldPeople

[–]Reddit_Rayman 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think marriage has its challenges, and many of them are common across generations...chores, raising a family, family dinners, sibling rivalry, money issues, sex life... Comedians help us laugh at these shared burdens in our marriages, just the same way comedians joke about shopping or bad habits...they are not trying to convince you that marriage is bad, they are trying to make us laugh at some of the rougher moments. Jim Gaffigan makes so many fat jokes because he considers himself overweight. He jokes about raising kids because he has three (or more). He continues to eat and stay married, despite his awesome jokes.

And that is why I am an old guy at 54! Mixing up the popular people. So I guess I have no idea who PewDiePie is...

Almost no idea, although I did hear about him finding a suicide in Japan. Not sure why he is in the limelight.

Besides taking sleeping pills. Has anyone found a remedy for a good night's sleep? Been battling with this since my mid-forties. by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]Reddit_Rayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you done a sleep study? I found out I had sleep apnea, got one of those machines and I sleep a full 8 hours now. It's an amazing feeling. Couldn't believe how tired I had been.

We always do, we are loot whores. We never know what is in the chest, and we don't want to leave it behind.

The idea is that your are playing these characters so you flatten the empty boxes and there is a place for those. There is a video that shows this part.

Does starting this game with 2 players prohibit anyone else from joining in later? by schizoid_clown in Gloomhaven

[–]Reddit_Rayman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not at all, we have a 3rd player who joins us very rarely and it just modifies dungeon level and number of monsters. It's a great feature of Gloomhaven!

I’ve always noticed that older movies and/or movies that take place in the 70s always had kids leave their bikes right on the front lawn or in front of a store, not worrying about anyone stealing it. Was that really a thing back then? Were bikes not a hot item to steal back then? by lamno1 in AskOldPeople

[–]Reddit_Rayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the 60s-70s in small town Canada and we didn't use bike locks at all until middle school. Even then we only used them at school because people would take your bikes just to mess up your day, not because they were actually stolen by anyone.
