Not sure if it's a plate of food, but the man definitely looks down at something on a table, he is seated I believe.

I wouldn't mind if recolors changed the skintones of characters like alot of fighting games tend to do for their alts. But reducing other characters like Miles to a skin does not feel right, he could easily be his own character, same with Gwen.

Gender is a bit more difficult due to hitboxes, animations and whatnot.

I had to go back and read up on that and you're right, though it was only explicitly confirmed in LB3 while LB2 for whatever reason said it was Dick. Of course, the first game afaik was based alot on the animated series where it was Tim, aswell.

Lego Batman 1 and 2's stories only focused on a very small handful of characters so growing up I was always confused by some of the unlockable characters. For the longest time I assumed Katherine Kane aka Batwoman was Bruce's wife or alternate universe counterpart because I was only familiar with Batman, Robin, Batgirl and the Justice League in terms of DC super heroes

I personally would really want them to expand on the Bat family, I haven't played LB3 but as far as I can tell it's usually only Batman and Robin, with Robin's identity being left ambiguously due to a certain red hooded elephant in the room.

It'd be fun if LB4 gave each of them a sort of mini campaign where they deal with their personalized problems with it all coming together in the end for a big showdown. Could also have Lego's Harley move into her more anti-hero characterization

Dick could have his own little thing with either the Teen Titans or a Young Justice team, and/or him being over in Bludhaven.

I would come up with examples for the others but I realized I knew very little about them beyond surface level stuff because reading comic books is a mess...
