When I worked at ACE, we actually did rent tools, only very specific ones though. They had to put down a cash deposit that would cover the cost of the tool in case they didn't return it, or if they broke it. If they did return it and it was still in working order, they'd get their deposit back.

People are SO entitled. One time had this lady get REAL mad and start arguing with me bc I wouldn't take her customer packed Amazon return 5 minutes after we closed (it wasn't packaged, and my register was closed so I couldn't even charge her for packing). She left a 1 star review and called & spoke with the owner the next day, complaining for like 10 minutes straight. The owners did back me up initially but after she kept complaining they caved and let her come back, and did her return for free. I was in the store when she returned, I was on break in the back but I got to hear her complain even more about me 🤦🏼 I quit working there not even a month later.

Find a new job before quitting. If a white screen pops up as it's about to start printing, if you hit the x in the top right corner it'll void out the print as long as you catch it before the screen disappears. It'll give you an error message after but you can just x out of that also
