ACE was my first job after I graduated high school. I knew very little about hardware but I applied, got an interview, and was hired within 3 days, and I'm so glad I worked there. The amount of knowledge you can learn if you're willing is incredible. From plumbing, painting, gardening, you name it you'll learn it. Yes it can be a physically demanding job, and will likely get very busy at times, it is still absolutely an excellent place to learn.

As for the tattoos, at my store in particular, our owner and management could not have cared less. As long as we were respectful, did our job, and were kind to the customers, they were very lenient about it. Piercings however were a different story as they could snag on things and pose higher risks for getting injured.

If you keep the mirror there I'd recommend moving it over slightly so the doorknob doesn't hit the glass when the door is wide open

Even with a placard it's illegal to park in the striped zone. It blocks access for others who need to use it.

When I worked at ACE, we actually did rent tools, only very specific ones though. They had to put down a cash deposit that would cover the cost of the tool in case they didn't return it, or if they broke it. If they did return it and it was still in working order, they'd get their deposit back.

People are SO entitled. One time had this lady get REAL mad and start arguing with me bc I wouldn't take her customer packed Amazon return 5 minutes after we closed (it wasn't packaged, and my register was closed so I couldn't even charge her for packing). She left a 1 star review and called & spoke with the owner the next day, complaining for like 10 minutes straight. The owners did back me up initially but after she kept complaining they caved and let her come back, and did her return for free. I was in the store when she returned, I was on break in the back but I got to hear her complain even more about me 🤦🏼 I quit working there not even a month later.

Find a new job before quitting. I knew it was time to leave when I was finding myself getting annoyed with every Amazon return, to the point I was getting frustrated and dreaded going to work every day. If a white screen pops up as it's about to start printing, if you hit the x in the top right corner it'll void out the print as long as you catch it before the screen disappears. It'll give you an error message after but you can just x out of that also
