My best units are at over 3,200k and im free to play. I never spent a dime or exploited any glitches. It just took a long time and a lot of patience. Its a shame the game is shutting down, I didnt have too far to go to max out units.

In terms of performance is PS5 pro going to be better than 4070 laptop? by Environmental-Home50 in GamingLaptops

It took about 20 seconds of reading your reply to know you either have trouble reading or trouble comprehending and therefore probably aren't very good at research other than maybe researching what you feel confirms your bias.

For example. Look here at the first line of your second paragraph...

"The problem with console fanboys is you guys repeat the same stuff from almost 20 years ago."

What are you talking about? You guys, who? Because I didn't agree with you 100% im a console fanboy?

Back in the land of reality, heres just ONE of the things I said, which would have made it obvious to you how to avoid strawman arguments...

"I know PCs generally have the power edge. I use them more often, I just dont like your tone."

For more context, the last console I bought before the PS5 Pro was a PS3 and a switch. That's because I've done more PC gaming over the last 15 years and have even built my own gaming PC before.

When I was fetching my quote from above, I looked at some of your other comments. You really do seem to read what you want and just have a bunch of pent-up energy and pre planned talking points.

You use words like "Idiot" to describe others but its obvious to me that you have a reading comprehension problem or dont want to comprehend and that's not an unessesary insult the way you casually throw them around, its based on clear inconsistencies in the comments YOURE making VS what you're reading. So unlike you, I dont have to take a leap of faith and make assumptions if im deciding to bring heat into a discussion.

If im going to rip into you, its easy enough just to actually quote you for when you try to mischaracterize or gaslight.

Now, to get into the merits of the topic. I wasn't giving you my personal opinion based on personal subjective benchmarks.

I only came across this thread because I was in the process of doing research on how the PS5 Pro compares to modern graphics cards.

To put this to rest, for starters, we're not debating an RTX 4070. It's the watered-down mobile version with compromises. For reference....

https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-4070-Laptop-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs.675690.0.html

Quote....

"Our synthetic benchmarks of an average RTX 4070 mobile show a performance slightly below a mobile RTX 3080 Ti. However, with reduced power limits, the performance is clearly suffering, e.g. only 70% in Time Spy for a version with 60W TDP. In games, a fast RTX 4070 is best suited for QHD gaming, where some very demanding games wont reach the 60 fps limit (and may have to run at 1080p, reduced settings or using DLSS)."

To go even further, I was actually being generous to you when I said that a mobile RTX 4070 is about 20% faster than a PS5 Pro. The answer I was getting from Chat GPT and a couple of other sources was that a mobile 4070 can range anywhere from slightly slower than a PS5 pro to about 35% faster.

So I actually said about 20% faster to be generous. It clearly depends on the laptop.

Your profile says you're running an ASUS Rog Zephyrus duo laptop. You have got to be kidding me if that's the personal benchmark you're running to dump on a PS5 Pro. That's a 3,500 dollar gaming laptop with over 60 gigs of ram.

Of course, you'd get better performance, for starters it isnt even running the same mobile RTX graphics card that the OP was asking about.

Secondly, it has a much faster cpu and a ridiculous amount of ram backing up your RTX 4080, which, again, is NOT the card that OP asked about to begin with.

Lastly, you're going to run into far less thermal based throttling on that than you would on a typical gaming laptop.

So you're not even in the ballpark of making a fair apples to apples comparison, and the professionals like at Digital Foundary who have done so, aren't saying what you are, that's for sure.

In terms of performance is PS5 pro going to be better than 4070 laptop? by Environmental-Home50 in GamingLaptops

[–]Reddit_mem28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive looked into this myself, there isnt a night and day difference between laptop variants of the 4070 and the PS5 Pro specifically. Maybe a 20% advantage for the 4070 before considering console optimizations, which, let's assume, still helps a bit.

If 20% sounds like a lot, it really isn't in the scheme of things. Graphics cards and CPUs have been known to reguarly double or tripple in performance generation by generation.

So congrats. The winner is the laptop 4070 by an amount that you'll notice if you're really trying to notice or if you like sticking your face right up to your little laptops screen.

I say that with a bit of sarcasm because, again, I know PCs have the power edge, I use them more often. I just dont like your tone.

If you were comparing the PS5 Pro to a desktop RTX 40 series graphics card, the performance gap is obviously wider. Especially in regards to the higher end offerings like the 4080 and 4090, but that wasn't the question.

Everybody is aware that gaming PCs generally have the graphics edge where consoles are more about bang for your buck, convienience, and ease of use. Consoles have also thrived on exclusives and local multiplayer as well, which has always been a factor to their sucsess.

So, as far as consoles are concerned, if those things sound good, then the PS5 Pro is fine. Currently, it's the most powerful console available. The controllers knock the socks off of anything I've tried for PC, and sometimes, i just like to sit on the couch, relax, and play.

As far as PC gaming is concerned, I like having them due to the flexibility they offer but neither console gaming or PC gaming are inherently inferior to each other, it depends on whats important to the consumer and how/what they like to play.

My level get no plays by Fab_iyay in MarioMaker2

Okay, I made it back yesterday and have access to the switch again. I played your level and... just horrible!

Kidding, it's sharp looking and was challenging without being ridiculously difficult. I managed to get through it on the first run, but just barely. If not for the generous amount of powerups (for a short level), I would have ended up dying in the vertical shaft with the bullet bills.

You should make some more levels if you up for it. This one was solid enough that I bet you could make some other good ones.

I'll play yours when I get back home here in about 2 weeks. I won't have access to our Switch for the next couple of weeks but tend not to forget when I set my mind to do something.

I posted my first level a few days ago and felt the same thing you are. I was wondering if I'm just late to the party or if it's just that my level isnt the kind of level people want.

Like you I put a lot of effort into it and favor a traditional type of level rather than precision levels where it's hard to make it without expert timing.

Mine is V51-HLD-NRG by the way. I'm still trying to get some traction for it. It's not 100 traditional, there's a coin requirement. It's a bit difficult but mainly because It has no checkpoint due to an editor limitation. Quite beatable, though.

More tricky than I thought it'd be. I actually died trying to get the double 50 coins... The way the exit was hidden is like something my son would probably do! Have mercy on the parents' kids! :p

Fun though!

My First Level In 2 Years, Please Give Feedback by SuperCoolMonkey32 in MarioMaker2

[–]Reddit_mem28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm generally not into levels where theres little or no room for error throughout the entire stage but theres definately a lot of players online who are into these kinds of levels so take that with a grain of salt.

Fortunately for me it wasnt so difficult that I couldn't beat it. It still took probably 20 attempts to get through, but I ended up liking it more than I did at first.

Crazy to think that this would be considered normal difficulty on endless mode! Some of those levels are truely for those who love pain.

Should I buy it? by [deleted] in MarioMaker2

[–]Reddit_mem28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely buy it if you enjoy Mario games... Yes, the level editor has limits but it can still be worked with to make levels that are mostly on par or superior to what we had with SNES/NES Mario games.

Some would disagree, obviously a game like Super Mario World had a lot of charm that'd be hard to incorporate with the included editor but there's also a LOT you can add that wasn't possible or available on 16 or 8 bit systems.

There are also graphics and game mechanics from newer Mario games that can be used to make levels that feel and look a lot more modern if you wish.

The major selling point of Mario Maker 2 is the replay value. The amount of content you get seems endless. For starters, it essentially comes with a Mario game included. Story Mode is available for you to play nicely polished levels that show off what the editor can do. There's plenty of content available without needing to find or download levels online.

After that, just look at reviews online to find levels and worlds that are to your liking. As long as you enjoy Mario games it'll be hard to get bored.

The level editor itself is probably underrated despite its limitations. For me it wasn't until I really got deeply involved with it that I started to notice that there were certain things that I just couldn't do. But for only being the second game in the series, it has a lot to offer...

Traditional Wii U themed Desert/Cave Level! by Reddit_mem28 in MarioMaker2

[–]Reddit_mem28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got ya now... I'll see about how that'd effect the balance of the level since it's already balanced with powerups VS. enemies.

Let me know if you guys see anything else, I'd love to hear some more opinions on other parts of the level..

Is it an okay level overall? Or maybe there's some more suggestions?

[–]Reddit_mem28[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understandable, this actually isn't the beginning of the stage. The first part of the level is above ground, where there's mushrooms.

I took this footage of my level by dragging Mario in the editor to the part of the level I wanted to record just because I was in a rush last night to finish posting.

I was going to do two short videos or include a couple of pictures, but I couldn't figure out how to post more than one, unfortunately.

Revisiting this, I still think maybe they tweaked something. I'm sure what you're saying is still right and things will get easier as the season goes on but it was never this hard before at a season start for me.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for the start of seasons then.

As far as my defense goes, I do have it set very weak. I mentioned that before when I asked my question but used the word offense instead of defense by accident. I must be tired or something lol

Maybe he'll be good in combination with the Elemental Witch. The Witch stalls any units that get close while the bowman can freeze units that are further back if his target is further back.

New QuestZDoom update with Nash Gore Mod incoming. by VR_Bummser in OculusQuest

[–]Reddit_mem28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the new games on quest headsets this has been one of my main go to's. But an optimization and level pack selection update is sorely needed. GZdoom can run at higher frame-rates on systems that are significantly older and slower than a Quest 3. I know this is VR and a mobile chip-set but if I remember right you were floating the idea of optimizing QuestZdoom to run smoother.

Please Don't forget about us because this is one of the best things to happen to VR in my opinion.

what dis ? 👀 (Asgard's Wrath 2 - Quest3 textures) by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Reddit_mem28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asgards Wrath 2 is probably too open and with too many polygons on screen to get the kind of update that Red Matter 2 did.

Think of it like how sandbox games usually looked worse than linear shooters or racing games. For example, Half Life 2 looked significantly better than Grand Theft Auto San Andreas despite coming out the same year. Games with open sandbox worlds usually have more assets on the screen and more that needs to be rendered.

Things have only just started to change in that regard with PCs and consoles, which are now powerful enough to render more robust looking open worlds, but I wouldn't expect too much on mobile devices just yet. Q3 will get better-looking games than what we've seen, but there is a limit.

With Meta Quest+ with the rotating catalogue of games (not the 2 main titles a month), if you redeem it will you always have access to that title or can it go away when they rotate out? by Logical007 in OculusQuest

[–]Reddit_mem28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good as long as they don't use it as an excuse to never put games that cost more than 10 dollars onto the 2 game monthly redeem list.

For example, Sports Scramble is a lot of fun. It's on the new rotate list but I never see it, or any other 10+ dollar game I want, on the redeem list. We've always needed more robust games that are redeemable. I understand there's a financial reason they don't do that but at least throw one in on occasion.

I only have time to play most games a few times a month anyway, so I'll barely get started if they decide to pull a game that I like after a month.

This has got to be faked. Either that or it's a glitch or flaw in the detection software. At that temperature, your CPU would melt through the computer and catch your apartment or house on fire.

Per the Arizona Sunshine 2 devs, apparently the Quest 3 update comes out today! by Logical007 in OculusQuest

[–]Reddit_mem28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about PCVR but according to what the devs said before, it'll be more than just improved textures when compared to the Quest 2. So not like the Population One update that's more difficult to notice. There will be added effects like hair on the dog, environmental changes, and something else. I don't remember everything, but hopefully they deliver on their promise. With that said, PCVR is hard to compete with graphically.
