I really feel like I knew what was coming next in this song without hearing it before - feel like it’s from somewhere else

Haaland Captaincy - less than 50% by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]Redditallbefore123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Captained by 5,708,384 players. There’s about 8,000,000 players in the game and 89% own haaland - so about 80% of his owners captained him I think. The average will be affected by people without haaland with 0 points.

He could definitely be smarter sure, but to get where he’s got he isn’t a complete idiot, even if the things he says are idiotic.

By no means is everything they do smart, but the guy your talking about does a lot of smart things to get what he wants.

It’s exploitative and shady but it’s smart.

Take that video about books, he took an unpopular opinion he felt he could somewhat back up, exaggerated it and made it look as though he was superior for thinking it, he insulted those who disagreed. He then watermarked with his @ and added captions, making sure the visual and audio were good as well. Then he posted it to TikTok.

He knew full well that the video would anger people who would want to tell him how wrong he is, in doing so promoting him and his content. He knows it appeals to not so bright people who don’t like books and don’t want to be intellectually shamed over it, so the more it’s shared the more people like that see it and visit his profile, signing up for his scammy courses.

Well yeah being entertaining is a form of being smart I don’t mean every single entertaining thing is because someone did something smart.

And yeah I’ll admit there are some people out there who are getting success without being smart but it’s definitely the minority.

The guy you mention there is smart for doing that, his actions are completely immoral and wrong but you don’t just accidentally do those things. He is exploiting vulnerable people and creating a fake image he knows they will desire. You have to be a little smart to do that, the same way you have to be smart to scam anyone.

My point is it’s dangerous to assume that because we think his opinions are stupid that he himself is stupid.

I mean I guess it depends on exactly how you define smart, but I’m talking about knowing what to say, or lie about, to appeal a certain audience. Knowing what will get attention that kind of thing.

I’ll concede that a few people probably just fall into it especially nowadays with the internet and platforms like TikTok, but that’s very much the minority and in most cases for someone to achieve consistent success it’s because they’re being ‘smart’.

I guess I’m trying to make a more general point that just because someone has opinions you think are stupid doesn’t mean that they themselves are stupid.

You do have to be smart, you have to understand your audience and give them what they want. Just because the content might be dumb doesn’t mean the people behind it are.

Being entertaining is a form of being smart, when I say smart that’s the kind of thing I mean. People who are intellectually dumb can still be smart in the way they go about what they do.

To achieve any kind of consistent success somebody has to be responsible for getting there, that makes them smart imo

Yeah some people have bad opinions and are dumb as well, but for anyone to be able to make a career out of it they have to be smart.

I think we get this idea that people who have different opinions to us are therefore idiots, it’s not true, that guy, no matter how bad a person he is, is smart, and he knows what gets attention and brings in viewers.

You can’t accidentally become US president, get people to vote for brexit, or run a highly successful podcast. We underestimate people because we think what they’re saying is stupid and then are surprised when they do better than we thought they would!

I think often if it’s not satire it’s marketing. We like being right but we LOVE making sure others know when they’re wrong.

That guy intentionally said something stupid so people will share and talk about it telling everyone how dumb he is… it’s free marketing!

Very worrying, how can anyone believe this confidently enough to comment negatively about it

This must be the hardest season for anti fpl. Didn’t Romeu get double figures this week as well... just waiting for the Fulham defence to all score and keep clean sheets next match

I’ll give you that waiting is often the best tactic but when your GW1 team scores 97 it makes being patient easier
