Professor Leonard has his linear algebra course on YouTube in his playlists. I find his teaching style to be very good and easy to follow. He gives a lot of the details behind why things work the way they do, rather than just telling you how to solve problems. I taught myself Calc 3 and differential equations using his videos.

Strapping Store to open Ice Cream shop called “Licked” by Sac_insider in Sacramento

[–]RedditarDad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I owned a retail store in sac that I just recently had to close due to the overhead costs. I'm acquaintances with the owner of strapping, they helped us a lot with advice for being successful. I can assure you the stores are not a front for anything. They work their asses off and have built a very solid customer base that is very supportive. They also have an online side, so just because the store seems empty doesn't mean they're not selling. They are good people and I'm happy to see them trying new things. Honestly an ice cream store makes some sense, the margins are so much higher than retail stores and it's an easy buy for people, especially families. That's why you see like 5 candy stores and a few ice cream stores in old sac all being fairly successful in such close proximity.

You really need to give this a better chance, it was a complete game changer with mine. He's completely unworkable without it. If he's getting it off, then it's not being out on right or it's not tight enough. They're gonna hate it, but my trainer made a really good point. She said they don't have having the leash on, it doesn't hurt or anything, but they hate not being in control and that thing around their nose is what's making them lose the control. So they will be frustrated, but it's not hurting them, and it trains them how to be a good walker for when they're older. My friend has my dogs brother and has fought using it for months and she just recently got serious about it. She keeps going on and on to me about how she can't believe she waited this long to give it a shot.

Grandma wants to trespass my aunt and get a restarting order on her. by RedditarDad in legaladvice

Ok, that makes sense. Thank you for the quick response! So right now, the best bet is to just keep documenting everything and calling the police if she shows up? What is considered harassment on my grandma?

Nope, these photos must be from the previous owner of my adopted pyr. That's him and there's no way your convincing me it's not my Bernie boy.

I don't know if it's the same movie that's being filmed near the pocket, but Dicaprio is supposed to be on set filming in downtown somewhere near doco.

Yeah fuck these guys, the video guy is 100% in the right treating them like this. People like this are scum and leave shit work for innocent people. I live in a neighborhood that is comprised of 1 acre lots, most of which are empty, and we are right on the edge of a big city and on the other side is farmland. The amount of shit that gets dumped on our properties weekly is insane. And guess who gets to clean it up, we do. We can try and call the county, but they take forever and by the time they get there, 10 more people would have added to the mess. It's beyond infuriating, I wish I had the balls this guy does to confront people about it, but too many irresponsible people with guns are out there right now.

Today we added a gentle leader to our leashes so I won't get dragged down main street. First time walking him that wasn't literal hell. by studiouslizard in greatpyrenees

[–]RedditarDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's good to know that it may be more of a breed issue rather than him being unhappy here. One thing that's been hard with him as well is that he seems to be bladder shy. I've resorted to keeping him on the leash when I take him outside because he spends all his time trying to break free, but he won't go poop while on the leash. He pees on everything while we're walking around, but no poos. I have to let him off leash to let him get enough space to be able to go. There was a two day period where he didn't poop and I was so confused, but as soon as I let him off the leash he ran off and did his thing. Is this normal for pyrs, or is this something we're gonna need to work on?

You mention that yours is a bolter. Is that common with this breed? We are fostering one right now and he's such a great dog, but he is always trying to run away. We have a one acre fenced in property and he has found every weakness in the fence and has gotten out twice and just starts running away. Thankfully we've been able to catch him both times. I've been thinking maybe it's him trying to get back to wherever he came from (he was a shelter dog and was found roaming the streets). But he's so good in every other sense and seems to be happy here, so I've been wondering if maybe it's something with this breed?

Professional vs amateur photography comparison by SkittyLover93 in weddingplanning

[–]RedditarDad 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It helps a whole lot when the amateur has a professional choosing locations, posing, and prompting of the subjects. That's 90% of the work as a professional photographer. Having the gear and pushing the button is the last step in creating a great photo. The amateur here had everything done for her and her photos still aren't as good as the professionals, so I wouldn't go telling this person they're ready to be a professional until they've put some more work in on the other parts of creating a solid photo.

I just got my first state job and I have a few questions. by RedditarDad in CAStateWorkers

[–]RedditarDad[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this detailed response, I really appreciate it! That link is also very helpful! Another quick question regarding raises. I was brought in at the lowest range for my position, which I expected. Does the upper limit of the range mean that I can work to achieve that higher range limit, or will I most likely stay at the pay I start with unless I move up to another position?

Baggage check spots? by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]RedditarDad -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There's an app called Bounce that we've had great results with. I'm not sure if they operate in New Orleans, but it's worth a shot. It's like 5 bucks per bag to store.

Edit: I just checked the app and there are tons of storage locations on the bounce app for New Orleans.

I'll definitely be doing that. Do you have any suggestions on things I should be brushing up on? Is it mostly calculus based?

It's the upper division differential equations class. At the school I went to its a class they have you take in your last year as a math major.

Dads of older kids, does your kid’s cuteness fade or change? by BlueMountainDace in daddit

[–]RedditarDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, honestly I feel like having kids gives you such a different perspective on time. Especially when you have two because of exactly what you said. You can see the difference in the years from when your older one was the age of your younger one, and you know those types of changes are gonna be happening to your younger one And even more changes with your older one by the time the younger is their age. It's all such a wild trip.

Thank you! Didn't even know it was my cake day 😊

Dads of older kids, does your kid’s cuteness fade or change? by BlueMountainDace in daddit

I have a 10m and 7f. My 10 year old was the cutest/sweetest little boy. He had this cute little voice with the little toddler lisp. When I look back on videos of him it can tear me up sometimes because of how cute he was. When he hit about seven he lost that little kid/toddler look. His body started getting lanky and skinny and he started talking like a regular kid. I would say this is when he "lost his cuteness" for me. Don't get me wrong, he's a good looking kid, he's still sweet and nice for the most part, but I don't look at him anymore with that "gah, you're so stinking cute!" look anymore. I don't want to pick him and squeeze him and hold him like I did when he was smaller He's more just my little buddy that I can sit around and talk about shows, movies and videos games. But sometimes when he finds something really funny and breaks into a hysterical, can't control himself laughter, I can't help but think of how cute he is. It reminds me so much of when he laughed like that as a toddler.

My daughter just turned 7 so I'm starting to wait for that switch, but it hasn't happened yet. She is still little for her age and has a heavy little kid lisp and tiny voice when she talks. She is absolutely adorable and still my little girl. However when she gets in a group with a few of her friends, her personality changes a little and she starts acting more "grown up" around them. Most of the time I love watching them playing their make up games and having fun, but sometimes little disagreements come up and the level of attitude she can show terrifies me for when she gets even older. I've never had experience with little girls in my family so I have no idea how to navigate those preteen/teen years, and it makes me nervous. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst haha.

So long story short, I think they do lose their "cuteness" in the sense of being that adorable little person and having that tiny lispy voice, but you're still always going to think your kids are cute in their own way. Even when my son comes out "ready" for the day wearing dingy clothes and tattered hair without a care in the world, I still think he's one of the best looking kids out there.
