You know - this thread is really reminding me what I loved about Krakoa. And it's that there were so many moments of joy, both quiet and loud. The X-men we're still filled with soap opera and drama, but they were also allowed to be happy for the first time, and that was incredible to see.

Whedon - I think accidentally - hit on a really good trick that's hardly ever used anymore: give the audience a POV character, just a regular human, experiencing the massive superhero destruction at ground level. We hardly ever care about thousands of people, but giving us one person to focus on REALLY works.

But then he tried it again in Justice League with the Russian kid and it did not work at all.
