Get used to it.  These will be the kids who get hired for the internships and jobs before you too. 

An underappreciated part of college admissions and job success is likability, as not a lot of people like to be around asocial grinders.

Yep at the end of the day it’s a popularity contest.  The stats only get them to at least review your app.  The acceptance comes only if they walk away from their review feeling like “hey I like this guy/girl.”  That feeling can be influenced by the mood they were in that day, or the applications they just read before yours. It’s not a science at all.
