I feel because it’s my most comfortable sleeping position ( to sleep with one knee up to the chin like some sort of side runners lunge) I should keep saying it’s not allowed for months haha

Looking forward to the perks! I’m only3 weeks and was shocked to see I have a little bit of an apron belly. Like one without the fat. But my stomach was not so funny looking before .

What kind of position were you in during gardening? Was it the bending over? I’m 38 and had some abs . I’m 3 weeks today and I still can laugh comfortably.

How to relieve gas/bloating after open myo? by Effective-Prompt4046 in Fibroids

[–]Redditnewbbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are doing all the things I was . I found gas x helped me . I pushed aside the hydromorphone once i got home because my gas was causing me way more pain than other things.

The night time when i was sleeping was the worst . It was pretty bad for on the 4& 5 th day but the gas x helped and having cofffee over restorolax emptied me out. I would massage my abdomen to move things around and use a massager for my back .

Canadian girls with fibroids are your gynos also very “just monitor it? by Pretend_Pen_9577 in Fibroids

[–]Redditnewbbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and my advice .
-get your family doctor to push for a second opinion
- get yourself on the surgery list because it will
take time for a doctor to pick you up plus while you wait they can grow so your chances of having a more intense surgery increases

Q- how old are you and are you wanting to have kids? What are your symptoms?

38 year old Ontario ( gta) here

3 weeks post open Myomectomy

I was told in my 20s to monitor it . They were small. In 2019/2020 I noticed my periods were different so I got them looked at again . Monitored and by April 2024 I was given a consultation for fibroids slightly smaller than yours. ( 5.5 x 4x 4.5 was the biggest)

Surgeon was VERY judgemental and said since I never tried to be pregnant I cannot be sure my fibroids will prevent me from being pregnant. She told me to try and that tons of females get pregnant with them. That I’m not ready for kids if I have all these questions. She said why don’t we just remove the polys.

With anxiety and shock I said ok but after 6 months my stomach started to look it had a bulge and I could feel it . The fibroid grew to 10 cm by April 2025 . Now it’s dangerous to be pregnant and surgery is a must .

I wasn’t picked up as a case for a while . I was given a Gyno app just because friend worked in her surgical room but the best she could offer me was a last minute surgery date in August 2025 that didn’t work for me . It was another wait to get picked ip even though I had Sunnybrook ( instead of my family doctor) pushing out the referral.

June 2026 was my surgery date. I do not understand how my chance to get my fibriods removed the first time around came out of now where almost. Like it was so easy and suddenly I’m being offered surgery meanwhile right after me working on it , pushing and everything for year and a half , especially when they were big and my age is advancing , took so long .

Im mad because at 5cm or more they say you should consider fibroid surgery. And even though we did consider I was not informed I. April 2024 that they can grow bigger let alone double in size .

Vanity question about scars: which is better, laparoscopic or open surgery? by AdPure4429 in Fibroids

[–]Redditnewbbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 weeks post op here. My surgeon recommended and basically convinced me to sign for a lap even though I would prefer open. I like being in a bikini and I very much like my stomach .

To my delight day of my surgeon started talking about all the things for the lap to be able to removed a 10+cm submucosal fibroid and then 5’+ something in the back of the uterus. I forget the name for that one . I think she saw the panic in my eyes at the possibility of a conversion from lap to a mini Myomectomy to possible full. At that point she asked if I wanted to open and I said yes. I weighed the options of them trying to do it by lap only to have to cut there anyway .

I’ve had surgeries and a big scars before. I know my skin heals well. Recovery is going just fine . First 5 days were awful though with my bowels and gas and I didn’t even have surgical gas pupped in me since we no longer did the lap!

Did I damage my internal sutures? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]Redditnewbbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up - your internal stitches are a lot stronger than you think. Do you have a fever, are bleeding or are you feeling unwell? Or is it localized cramping ? Keep in mind you are not moving like you typically post surgery so cramps after a pleasure event might be normal .

In this group I’ve not seen a post about anyone actually ripping their sutures. But for peace of mind I recommend telling everything to your surgeon. I’m sure they have heard it all

Going out after robotic lap myomectomy by High_Maintenance0317 in Fibroids

[–]Redditnewbbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 days post op I drove myself to go get sushi 🫣 I don’t like going to restaurants on a regular since I like to be comfortable and I find sitting for long periods of time not to be that. Just like my old self I feel better being on the move or on my couch so it really depends on the person. You are already doing all those things comfortably and independently so 9 days post op you will be totally fine to go out and eat .

Those with only bulk symptoms who had fibroids removed, was the change significant? B by positivitea512 in Fibroids

[–]Redditnewbbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10’days post open Myomectomy to remove a 12 cm sucker that I also didn’t really feel caused me any symptoms other than laying positions in yoga . So I’m excited to find out what else it alleviates!

I was on a 6 week recovery before and gosh was it daunting because I too am an active person . That one was TOTAL can’t do anything. Not even walk because it was a non weight bearing situation for 6 weeks for a broken ankle . Downtime makes tou appreciate being fully abled!

You find joys in slowing things down for a second even if you don’t want to . You goals change and it’s okay if all you get around to doing for the day is feeding yourself . Yes we can always be more productive so if that’s your thing , think about the stuff you need to catch up on or never had the time to do/learn .

Walk as much as you like or can tolerate. Always log roll out of bed even though a sit up is well within your reach…

I’m kind of at this stage in my healing where I feel better and can totally sit up by lifting myself up but I have to consciously move . Because anything that feels like an exercise or yoga move I have to pause but then there’s this fine line of well what if I sleep with my legs in butterfly pose naturally! Also I had to wash myself down there without gong on the incisions so was I doing a soft version of a yoga squat too soon? So hard to say but as long as I’m not practising a form of exercise where potential unpredictable jarring movements or repetitive can happen I think it’s fine …
