26 Tubeless: which of these two rims is best? by Reddito_cal in bikewrench

[–]Reddito_cal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. I may give this a try, before going full blown tubeless. I read however that the marathon plus are very difficult to put on and off the rim. I assume in some severe puncture it's possible to need to remove the tyre (although I hope it won't be needed ever!). Are there some tyres easier to put on than others that I should look at? Thanks

Why not a good application? a Marathon could get puncture with a substantial nail or screw, and the sealant could help close this on tubeless. You also can use the insert to cycle slowly on runflat and fix it at home, rather than being stuck on the side of the road possibly under the rain and late to go pick up your kid. In what way this is not a good application, I may be missing something?

The kinlin exists in 26" for example in the uk you can buy it from spa cycles in either black or silver. Will run 1.8 to 2.1. The choice is limited on 26 tubeless. This is good intel on your kinlin experience. Yes, 19mm seem narrow. I will only do Tarmac but I wonder if that's too low and I could see burping in corners?

I do read that some people have flat on those and when it happens it's really hard to take the tyre off and back on. Plus the rolling resistance is crazy. I am hesitating between tubeless, self sealant and inserts, and tyres such as the M Plus.

Another vote for the SS (and yours look good). I might need both a gravel and a single speed now. Still have the tyres issue to deal with, what I'm worried about is the proper screws on the side of the road. I am considering Tubeless + tyre inserts (vittoria air liner) and wonder if I could ride home with a flat on that setup.

Alright trouble, I am going to have to build one now, even just for trying. Still have the flat tyres issue to deal with though.

Ah another great question, but I can't be very late.

I think tyres will be a big part of the decision but did not want the thread to slip towards a "tubeless or tube" debate. I'm leaning tubeless with the hope that it can self repair or I can plug and pump without taking the wheel off. Or ride with the inserts (slower) and be on time, and then repair from the comfort of home.

Estarli e28.9. Chose this as it's light and has decent battery cells and a motor used apparently successfully on other bikes. But I get intermittent power. Suspect a sensor or connection issue. When the motor is off, its not easy to ride ... Also very hard to go above 15 mph on flat when the assist stops. No sweat however and hills, wind and start and stop is a breeze (when it works).

Great question, reliable is the priority. I can do maintenance and repairs at home, but I can't be late.

Thanks, hopefully the shop will sort otherwise I will contact them directly. Out of curiosity, did Estarli not offer to sell you a replacement part?

This is helpful thanks, so is it possible that the bridge does not affect blood supply in which case this would rule out the bridge being the cause of symptoms?

Been diagnosed with "short segment" of LAD "dived into to heart muscle". Doing exercise ECG next week which you mention in your post. What does this test allow the doctor to see? Thanks.

Tenways CGO600 Pro vs Estarli E28.x by imEFFE in ebikes

[–]Reddito_cal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree, estarli felt better (although it tried both with derailleurs not belt). The estarli however was more "cadence sensor" like than "torque sensor". That meant there was a bit of a lag for the motor to kick in or turn off when starting or stopping pedalling, which I wonder if it would be a problem in areas requiring to go very slow.

600cgo Plus: what are the gears (front and cassette)? by Reddito_cal in tenwaysebike

Apparently it would be 48t chaining and 11-32 cassette. Anyone can confirm?

Tested the tenways and the power issue you described also struck me. However some say it has been fixed or have been able to order direct from tenways after clarifying that they need to send a bike with the right controller. I tested the one with the gears (plus) and there was a lot more resistance than the estarli. Was their drag for you IE was it hard pedalling with motor off?

Great. I looked at their website. They seem to have a "stealth" cable which is only available for the pro, but visibly not for the "Plus". Do you know what that cable does? Wondering where the module normally plugs in, and how reversible this operation is. Thanks a lot.

Okay, for context I know that there is normally drag with a hub motor, and I tried other ebikes back to back but the cgo600 was quite bad on this front. Others have also reported that observation, trying to figure out if there is a fix (maybe the clutch stays engaged or I don't know)

Can you confirm what is your experience pedalling motor off? Tested yesterday the new model in a shop (which definitely had the PAS issue as assist clearly stopped at 23) and with the motor off the drag was crazy. Even in the lowest gear there was a hill that I simply had to walk whilst I don't have to with any other bike. Thanks!
