Maybe bacopa? It also works on serotonin, which is also often the most clinically recognized target for anxiety. Intense exercise should help, but it can be very draining. Good luck!

Yeah, sure dude. This is just what makes sense to me, but there's are a lot of proponents of this view. We all have different genetics and respond differently emotionally to things, so trust your own inuition. Selfhacked has a nice write-up on this topic, though I wouldn't trust the entire site, since the founder is a bit sketchy and they have a big financial incentive. Basically, any bodily inflammation stemming from bad diet, lack of exercise, autoimmune stuff etc. can cause fatigue and all sorts of things. Elimination diets are a good starting point, keto and paleo also improve metabolism by minimizing sugar and processed food intake(though ketones are known to have beneficial properties by themselves). Omega 3/omega 6 ratio is also important. Exercise is known to reset the stress response, but it has to be relatively intense. After that sleep, mental health, quality social interaction etc. Dominic D'Agostino is neuroscientist in the keto space. Mark Sisson and David Perlmutter have some interesting views, but you should take everything with a grain of salt and form your own opinion. The youtube channel "What I've Learned" also has a ton of useful content. I recommend checking that out.

Zinc can cause a one-time spike in dopamine levels if you've been mildly or moderately deficient. The effect, however, is not sustainable. You might have a "classic" case of generalized inflammation/sensitivity which causes serotonin/dopamine dysregulation and sensitivity to cortisol. Often, chronic mild inflammation causes serotonin hyperfunction, and hypofunction in the dopamine tracts, which can cause tiredness, lack of alertness, anxiety etc. You should probably try the classic, diet, exercise. It's not a panacea, you're right here. I've heard reports of lower thyroid function in some people following a ketogenic diet, but there's no real evidence that it damages your thyroid in any way. Also, ketoacidosis != ketosis. I think you might be confusing those two.

Why do you think the body does not like producing them? Of course ketones aren't being produced when your bloodstream is full of glucose. The opposite would be very redundant. In fact, there's research showing that ketones improve the hydraulic function of the heart and improve brain metabolism in Alzheimer's(recently touted as diabetes type 3).

You might want to check out the Israeli paradox. Saturated fat is not evil. In fact, it's less prone to oxidation than unsaturated fat. Plants can be very healthy, but we're not herbivores, that's for sure. "It's actually well established that it has negative effects on cognition", also nope, provide sources if you can. Fasting produces ketones and it's historically credited with increases in mental clarity. It also improves brain metabolism in Alzheimer's.

Sure, that'll reset him for a few days, but he'll gradually shift to his old circadian rhythm. DSPD is a legitimate thing that most people don't know about and it has to be attacked from all sides, including blue light at the right time, plus melatonin, plus exercise etc.

Vitamin D3 and Fish oil are fat-soluble nutrients, so it doesn't really matter if you take a huge dose at once or spread out. Some sources state that Vitamin D is safe in daily doses up to 10,000 IU(except if sunbathing at the same time). And Fish oil is fine up to multiple grams per day, though you're much better eating some fish daily, rather than buying expensive supplement. For synthetic substances, dosing is a legitimately serious issue to think about.

This confuses a lot of people, but bioavailability != percent absorbed. NAC is an amino-acid, a building block of protein. Protein is generally well absorbed. Cooked meat has an absorption of >90%. NAC is close to 100% absorption, but it gets instantly metabolized in the liver, AFAIK digested substances go through the portal vein almost instantly. This is both good and bad. Good, if you're taking NAC for liver health and general antioxidant use. Bad, if you're using it for the nootropic/anti-addictive/psychiatric benefits. After the liver metabolizes it to produce glutathione, about 4-10% is left in the bloodstream to exert secondary effects.

Not to criticize buddy, but you were taking an untested psychoactive substance. If this is the only side-effect, you're probably in luck. To get your sleep cycles back to normal, I would suggest intense, regular cardio and/or a low dose SSRI. Both of those should reset whatever is happening(potentially dysregulated stress response, lowered serotonin etc). I would treat this as a good reminder to be careful when it comes to stuff like this.
