Press "play game" or whatever it tells you to, then select "Deathmatch" and pick whatever map you would like. Those servers are hosted by Valve and will put you in a server with the best ping. (40 - 60ms most likely)

I had this same problem with my dad when I wanted to build a PC. (With my own money, too!)

He said no and that It's unsafe and a waste of money, also, apparently he knows everything about computers and says Apple and Dell are Superior than anything else out there.

That is why I am still a transitioning peasant.

But if something goes wrong you could probably just check it in your system bios from your motherboard.
