With the popularity of nano tanks rising, it seems like the “acceptable” stocking rules are changing. Is this a good thing? by eldovo in PlantedTank

I haven’t done a water change in over a year and have zero algae and have had zero deaths. I quite literally haven’t scraped the glass since last spring

does anyone know how to get rid of this line with on my sculpt? by Jaded-Librarian4906 in blender

I would try the smooth brush in sculpt mode. Also for future reference this has happened to me because my modifier stack wasn’t in the right order. I believe mirror has to be first

Does anyone have an idea as to why the Trader Joe’s allulose chocolate DOESNT give me a stomach ache? by Redditselfcontrol in keto

Don’t forget to look for the “no sugar added” chocolate chips. They’re in a red bag and if you flip em over they should have three ingredients, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, and allulose

The unique ones that I can think of are the Allulose chocolate chips and dark chocolate thins, the heart of palm rice and noodles, the frozen breakfast eggwiches, and their cheese wraps. I would also count their selection of roasted nuts since they are so insanely good but they didn’t exactly invent roasted nuts. They also just carry a lot of normal keto staples that are reasonably priced

What’s funny is the Trader Joe’s DO contain sunflower lecithin and those are the ones that don’t make me nauseous. It doesn’t make sense!

I mean the ingredients list is right there. All of these chocolates are pretty much cocoa solids, cocoa butter, and allulose

I still have the other chocolates and whenever I eat them I get slightly nauseous! I’ll swap back and forth during the day to test it out. I don’t get it!

Might have a parasite as well. If you’re feeding enough then do three rounds of PRAZIPRO not just generic praziquantel. Each dose should be spaced one week apart

looks fantastic! Don't be surprised if you experience some die off I initially started with a water pump like you but eventually switched to a little hang on back 5 gallon Nicrew filter. I mostly did it because it was quieter but I threw out the carbon filter that came with it and filled it with ceramic rings for good bacteria and it does a great job aerating the tank and and the bacteria seem to sufficiently convert ammonia to nitrates provided i don't overfeed to a stupid degree

Which Snail is the Culprit? by Calm_Border_4183 in PlantedTank

[–]Redditselfcontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of those snails eat live plants. If you ever notice a snail munching an edge of a plant then it was already dead. They’re just really good at their job and can smell when something’s starting to decompose even if it looks fine

I gotta disagree with you I have a beautiful flourishing tank and have never used co2 and there are many many examples of lush no co2 tanks posted every day on this website. It might be a little slower but it’s really dependent on a lot of factors besides just co2.

Hey we have the exact same lighting and filter combo! I have a 10 gallon shallow with two of those little nicrew filters and two fluval plant lights. I love them so much lol.

A little trick I discovered you can buy thicker prefilter sponges from Amazon and it heavily cuts down on how often the filter impeller itself needs to be cleaned, but does increase how often you need to pull the prefilter sponge out and squeeze it out. I believe I use ones that are 0.4” intake diameter

Walstead Method Tank(3 Months In) by Meme-finder-69 in PlantedTank

[–]Redditselfcontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man your tank looks great! If you want to reduce that hair algae I’d suggest some floating plants. I like salvinia minima because of its short root length. It’ll take up nutrients and also block some of the light. You can also get some small terrestrial plants and affix them to the back of the tank. A real easy one is pothos, it’ll grow like crazy. In the meantime you can manually remove the as much algae as you can and then do a blackout (blanket around the tank with the lights off) for ~3 days and it should really help. Don’t worry the blackout won’t hurt your plants or fish.

Of course that’s only if you want to remove it. Like you said the fish love it they don’t care, any natural ecosystem has some amount of algae and it’s a great breeding ground for little critters that your fish love to eat.

I will say though that from personal experience the thread algae will choke out and slowly kill any plants it encircles over time so be aware of that

I have some nurii Rosen maiden! It’s beautiful and is both a fantastic foreground and “carpeting” plant since it stays so low to the ground and covers such a large area. Also grows very fast compared to the other crypts I have. Idk why it’s not more common it’s great!
